  • very nice review, if i could buy this set or the bachmann 221, which one would you recomend?

  • @username5515 this one.

  • good video mate

  • btw: can u give product codes / ca. numbers for these reviews... Went hunting Pendo models and 153 models off your reviews, but found multiles and unsure which exact you reviewed. What's the product code of this Pendo train pack, please? Thanks

  • Another great review, and "Yes" I'm going for this one on the back of that (and other researches). It appears to be an excellent entry to DCC as well, which would be an added bonus. One question: you added the 2 additional coaches, but am I right in thinking to make a full 9-car set as per WCML there would need to be a second pantograph carriage? Many thanks

  • I had this then sold it for the Alstom pendolino train set. I love the Alstom branding.

  • Great review

  • I want it:)

  • numbers on the window ? :)

  • my pendolino has numbers on the window yours dont

  • ive got it in 2011 christmas mines not digtel but its realy good

  • i got this in 2008 for christmas its good isnt it but mine doesnt move must of worn out :) but the box is still good :D

  • i got this set but 4 curves were missing :(

  • can u please make a vid to see how fast she can go. im thinking of getting one

  • How much in American dollars?

  • i've noticed that Hornby haven't got the pendolino accurate enough with the first class cuz it says first class above the window but doesn't have a number one in between the windows that are towards the ends on each first class coaches in which the real pendolino does

  • cool. I like how you got extra coaches for it...did you get those out of a second train set or did you buy them seperate from model shops?

  • @STbluefox bought seperately from a model shop.

  • I have a Pendolino and the detail is amazing I love.

  • i have this train

  • How much in £

  • @OfficalBlueMacaw - between £120 and £200

  • How much is it?

  • @psychobob67t between £120 and £200

  • @InterCity82 my one was £204

  • Would have been even cooler if the real train shared bodies between coaches.

  • i usually do not like hornby but they did a really good job on this. were did you get it from?

  • @irishrail42 that is true

  • Nice train - good to see with the extra carriages. How did you make the scoreboard at the end of the video?

  • @huxby - it was made using Adobe After Effects. How, is a little tricky to fit into such a small box lol

  • @InterCity82 i heard from a friend that its rare now to find this digital set of the penddolino because there to expensive and hornby released an anolog version. is this true?

  • @InterCity82 That's enough detail thanks - I wondered if it was After Effects. I keep thinking I should buy it to go with my Premiere Pro!

  • do anyone know if you can get replacement couplings for this loco because the one on my dumy can snaped off

  • @CONCORDE444 - contact Hornby. They have a repair and replace service.

  • where did you get your virgin pendolino from i need to now couse im getting one of them plaese .

  • @josephgorton90 - I got this from Amazon actually!

  • 844 views to making 100,000 views wow :)

  • what is the diffrence between the 221 super voyager and 390 pendolino

  • @sammo2826 - I'm sure they will. Re-tooling is an expensive process, and results in expenesive models. If Hornby alienated its younger buyers it would suffer considerably. The overall market would then shrink, fewer people would enter the hobby and there'd be less money available for Heljan and Bachmann to make special locomotives like the HS 4000 and Blue Pullman. Right now, all 4 big companies compliment each other quite well and the market is booming.

  • @621Kershaw - in all honesty I find there is virtually no difference between the two now. The Hornby Class 60 is easily the best diesel on the market. The Bachmann Class 66 is way better than the Hornby one. The Hornby A4 is perfect. The Bachmann A4 is the wrong shape. The Bachmann GWR 56xx is stunning but the Hornby 0-4-0s are still stupidly fast. Overall, the two are very, very balanced. Heljan and ViTrains are good too but they don't many many models compared to the 'big two'.

  • @InterCity82 thanks

  • Do u need two of the hornby selects if u have a outer loop and a inner loop

  • @HornbyLad2000 - no, you can just make sure both are connected to the same controller. Either by actual wires or points that have the little DCC clips fitted.

  • Sorry to bother u mate just wondering how do u put the dcc chip inside the pendolino because it looks a bigger chip that fits inside please can you show us what the chip is and demonstrate thanks mate.

  • @HevyTH1 - my Pendolino was DCC fitted so I never had to install the chip. All I can tell you is that a chip is needed in both ends, and it has to be an 8 PIN chip like the R8249 from Hornby.

  • is that a speed train because it looks like one

  • Where do you buy your train sets?

  • @M9Guy - from all over really! Online and local shops

  • i no it most likely hasnt becasue its not in the vid but have you had any probelems like you did with the voyager and the problem on the voyager is it rear or pritty common

  • @toffie702 - you mean 'rare' and 'pretty'? I can't really say, but I've heard from other people with the same problem so it definitely wasn't an isolated case. The Pendolino however has been fine but then it's tilting mechanism is different.

  • whilst wandering around at a local train fair someone was selling an old GMT orange pacer for around 40 quid. however this seller happened to dcc the loco but always sticking to analogue i dont know wether it may not work well and taking the chip out for me would be one hell of a headache but should i get the loco and see how it performs, or stick to dcc locos for dcc layouts and dc trains for dc layouts???

  • @TheIntercityhst - if the train is DCC ready then removing the chip will be easy, and then it'll be DC again. But if the train wasn't DCC ready then the person will have soldered wires to wires, making it much more difficult to 'un-DCC'. It's best to leave DCC trains as DCC and just run them on a DCC layout. If you see a train you want that's DCC only and you don't have DCC, then you could always buy it and wait until you have a DCC controller.

  • Does anyone know if you can buy a pendoliono in n gauge/scale

  • @leftmid18 - I'm not sure Check Trident Trains. He has a good range of N-gauge models.

  • what do you perfer out of the pendolino or voyager

  • @toffie702 - definitely the Pendolino.

  • are you going to get 3 more coaches so the Pendolino is a 9 car train not a 6

  • @Whizzer1 - possibly not. That would require a HUGE station and I don't really want a station that long. But who knows :) For now I'm very happy with it being a 6 car set.

  • I mean if I run a DCC (digital) train on a dc track

  • @SmashBangCrash - don't. Do not run a DCC train on a DC layout. Why would you do that? If you have a DCC train then you have a DCC controller so use that. Likewise, if you have a DC train, run it on a DC layout. I don't recommend you mix the two as it plays hell with the motors and can damage them.

  • What happens if I get this without a decoder and chip and run it on a layout which isn't DCC

  • @SmashBangCrash - this set comes in 2 'flavours'. DC and DCC. Run the DC one on DC track and the DCC one on DCC track. Simple.

  • What should get? the pendo, voyager or the javelin?

  • @joetorsneyTrains i have a pendolino ace get one

  • Dose this train come with sound

  • why have you put blutack on the track? doesn't the track stick together without it?

  • @thewhitedinosaur please check his videos, there is a video about the bluetack, look before you comment!

  • Comment removed

  • As roscowhitney thought there was 2 pendolinos I'm sure it's a hornby pendolinos and a dapol voyager. Just for those who don't know.

  • Great video on an iconic train.

Do you know if any model companies have released or will be releasing a class 378, 313, 317, 321 or 365? Thanks

  • what you have TWO pendolinos !!!

  • @roscowhitey - Err no? Just one.

  • @InterCity82 oh right sorry @ 6:43 is that a voyager then ?

  • do u still need the 8 pin chip for the dummy unit?

  • @sammyjammywammy - The DCC-ready version of this train needs a chip in each end. Both chips would need to be 8-pin chips. You can get basic ones that only control lights and not a motor, but in my experience I have found such chips to be more expensive than a fully functioning one. So you might as well just buy 2 basic Hornby ones for about £10 each and the job is done.

  • how much is she? I remember getting the old mk.3 train. She was my first train so I am fond of the virgin trains.

  • @fulf1 - this particular set cost anywhere from £120 to £220 depending on where you buy it.

  • @InterCity82 Thanks, could u please make a video about weathering trains, i want to do it as some of my trains look really naff.

  • She that leans ;)

  • @dilwich123 - yup! Almost like she's had a bit too much to drink.

  • @InterCity82 lol too much too drink

  • the dcc set is out of stock. do u know when it will be back in stock????

  • @MRmilner98 - one is DC and one is DCC - go for whatever you want really :)

  • I have this. It's brilliant.

    Liked. :}

  • What is the most expense train you have?

  • @mrthelionbeast - City of Manchester I think - or the Class 14 by Heljan.

  • How many pendolino's do you have

  • i have this enguine and it is brilliant

  • Hi

I have the DCC Ready set, could you do a video on converting it to DCC , that would be really helpful and I'd be very grateful.

    Thanks

  • How come you have 2 DCC Controllers?

  • @MegaTrainlover - because I have both this set and the Mixed Goods set which are both digital sets.

  • @InterCity82 do u need a digital dicoder to get digital and how much r they

  • @bluerapier1 - to go digital you need DCC equipped trains and a DCC controller. The BEST way to start is to buy a Hornby DIGITAL set - that will give you everything you need to get going.

  • could you tell me what dcc means this will help me understand it more

    thanks

  • @RSgbaker - Digital Command Control, I'll be uploading some vids on it real soon.

  • how much did u pay

  • @Liverpoolfcfever - £120

  • Will a DCC fitted loco work on a traditional layout with traditional controls?

  • @leeham991 - possibly - but I don't recommend it. If you MUST run a DCC loco on a DC layout, remove the chip first, making the loco DC for the time being and re-fit the chip after.

  • @leeham991 all dcc chips have an analogue function so yes

  • well youv'e had your pendolino for a year or two now, but i've had mine for nearly five months and mine has derailed about 125 times, despite being the dcc ready version, too.

  • @Hornby09c - mine hasn't derailed once. Check what's going on when she actually derails - so get in close, really close and watch what happens as it derails and where it derails.

  • gr8 video have you seen the hornby pendolino in alstom livary i am getting it for my birthday and i might make a video on it

  • now if Hornby have done this right, the motor will be behind the cockpit,

    is this the case?

  • @Xantec - it's been a long time since I've had to open this train up actually - but the motor is definitely in one of the ends, either above the lead or trailing bogie.

  • @InterCity82

find the CG of the un powered driving car, then pick up the powered car in the same place, it will then lean one way or the other depending on where the heavy bogie is

  • @Xantec

I'm not sure if Hornby care about that. They put the engine in the tender of steam locos after all.

  • two things.

I have the exact same train (ie from the set) and the nameplate coach one of the two that you said you dont get in the set comes with the train(whcich also meant that you had a random standard coach in between two firsts) , but what to pendolino coaches did you buy, cos im loking to extend mine to six coaches so if you sill have the boxes , what were the hornby catalogue numbers?

  • @FatalMistake465 - R4272A and R4273A

  • i might get this train on my birthday and great vid

  • i have the virgin pendaleeno and it's really good in fact is is fantastic

  • does your pendolino derail a lot?

  • @Hornby09c - it's never derailed

  • i cant find this on the website i fount the same one but not digital can you possibly post a link in reply or tell me where you purchased it

  • @shwanrasoul - you need to check out Amazon and Google Shopping Search.

  • a quick question how do you get your logo on the bottom left of your vids because i want to put my logo on mine to stop anyone nicking my vids and classing it as there own

  • @gtacrusher123 - it's called a 'DOG' or Digital On-screen Graphic and it's basically just a logo, set to 30% transparency and positioned in the bottom right corner of any video I make. The logo was created using Photoshop and the software I use to edit my videos is Adobe Premiere Pro.

  • @InterCity82 so all i need is probably dog , paint.net and windows movie maker or do i need all of them

  • @gtacrusher123 - would you like me to make one for you? :)

  • @InterCity82 yes please

  • @gtacrusher123 - Can you send me a private message so I can reply with an email address for you, as i'll need you to send me the image you use for your new logo.

  • @InterCity82 ok

  • @InterCity82 i have sent you a private message and have you got it

  • @gtacrusher123 - yes, I'll send you an email later from my main PC

  • @InterCity82 ok is there anything els i need to send you with the picture

  • its pretty easy to get on the tracks near my house, there's an un-barriered level crossing!

  • If you get a second hand dummy unit and fit a coupler to the front you can do

the pendolino being dragged by the thunderbird like you see on the north wales coast to holyhead.

  • FatalMistake465= The pantograph coach ha the quiet zone stickers. I know this because i have this model.

  • Hi there, just wondered if any of the coaches had the quiet zone stickers on them???

  • @FatalMistake465 - I'm not sure to be honest, and can't check at the moment as they've been put away for re-decorating. But I'm sure if you do a google image search and zoom in on a photo of one you may be able to see if they do or not.

  • I have this set but I hate my pendolino. It keeps falling off, Great video!

  • @thomasisbest23 mine used to do that until i nailed that tack to a piece of chipboard which ensured it ran on a smooth track making it less likely to fall off. This is the modt common problem if your layou is not permanent

  • I have a pendolino and I really want to move to DCC but I'm afraid of breaking it by trying to chip it ! I NEED HELP!

  • @RCProductionable - just pop the casing off. It won't snap so long as you're careful.

  • Thoroughly enjoyed this video friend. I'm 22 and looking to buy my first set and am very much concidering buying this one. Subscribed!

    - Chris

  • why are you not into dcc sound train because i am 12 and i am

  • @legoboy70 - I do have one DCC sound fitted loco and will be doing a video on her soon but she has been customed chipped. The best way when it comes to realistic sound :)

  • @InterCity82 aww i am getting my class 31 reblown with realy good sounds swd and they are bloody great and i may be getting a pair of class 20's dcc sound swd they are nice hehe

  • @pyronathanpyro - a pair of class 20s - not 20's - there's no need for the apostrophe if you're just pluralising something. I've got a pair of class 20s too! But not with sound - they're the standard Hornby ones.

  • @InterCity82 ahh nice one and thx for the correction lol im good at making things and that but im no good at english lol i am in top set science i meen how did i get there i dont know lol

  • @pyronathanpyro - lol it's ok. Just summat that bugs me. I didn't know until several years ago but I do so much professional writing now that I have to make sure I don't make little mistakes like that you see. But you should see how angry people get when they're corrected!? Almost like being wrong and sloppy wins over putting time and effort into something. MAD.

  • @InterCity82 aha lol i wish youtube would make a chat like a instant messenger on youtube so people can chat over youtbe it would make our comment conversations easier lol

  • @pyronathanpyro - haha yes! true! Maybe they will do something like that in time? I am going to host a live session soon, however. So maybe that can be when people ask me questions live. :)

  • @InterCity82 oh cool whats it on justin tv or ustream or even youtube thx and hows the layout room coming along and what are dimensions of it please

  • @pyronathanpyro - the live broadcast will be on Blog TV I think. As for details of the new layout, a video on that isn't far off now - it's in the queue, along with loads of others :)

  • @InterCity82 ahh Great stuff nice one well good look and what class is the sound train you have please thx

  • @pyronathanpyro - it's a Pannier tank in GWR

  • @InterCity82 ok thx

  • it is amazing detail for a hornby set.

  • i have that set 2 :)

  • Do you have the new pedolino alstom i do it's really good if you don't have it I would seriously recommend it to anyone who wants to get the normal pendolino get the alstom instead it costs the same but you get more track and a better livery on the train itself

  • Will have u seen the new hornby 2011 one in the Alstom livery? Looks smart :-)

  • @Class66Rocks - I have but I'll be in no rush to get it :)

  • This is a very good train. Thank you very much mate for explaining about it seeming i was wanting a virgin train or i might of got the eurostar one. what one do you think i should get? i was wondering about the lights and you have explained it very well. if anyone knows the eurostar has different coupling to the vergin please reply to this. nice work mate. have fun! :D

  • @Tirionblade - the Pendolino is much better, purely because it is newer. The Eurostar is quite old now and showing signs of age.

  • What best sprinter I might get 1 and nice vid

  • Thank you. Could you make a review right now but just show me it you don't have to do a test track or any ratings could you do that for the voyager

  • @Mrlego2011 - I'm afraid not. Not at the moment. But I'm sure if you look for a review by someone else there will be one.

  • Ok thanks. Is there still going to be a review this Friday? And you forrgot to answer my question of is there a first class 142 pacer?

  • @Mrlego2011 - Yes of course there will be. What would make you think there won't be? I have a huge store of videos awaiting upload and I can easily make 'how to' and 'help' ones too, without an actual layout :) As for the Hornby 142 Pacer.. it has been released in the following liveries... Northern Rail, Regional Railways, Arriva Trains Wales, GTR Manchester, Northern Rail Mersey Railways, Northern Spirit, Valley Lines and First Great Western.

  • Will you please do review of the virgin voyager I know you have one I seen it in other videos I just can't make my mind up if I should buy it as I have to buy it this week or I won't have the money so it's a emergency really so if you could help me even if it's a unscheduled review. Thank you intercity82

  • @Mrlego2011 - I'm sorry but right now my railway is in bits (re-decorating) and so I couldn't review it even if I wanted to or had to. The video on the Voyager won't be up for some weeks yet due to how many other videos I've got to get done first. But someone else may have done one?

  • i like train with control

  • i want it

  • My functions are not working its 0 the function please replie

  • @jackontheweb - just press funciton , just funciton and nothing else to control the lights

  • @InterCity82 How come you use blu-tac to glue them down. I mean if you hit the track, it will come loose.

  • @London667568 - The layout is TEMPORARY. It's on the floor of my conservatory floor. I'm not hammering nails into the wooden laminate floor lol

  • My functions are not working its 0 the function

  • I really want to get into DCC, but Only one of my locos is DCC-ready and the other two are A1x terriers, which are tiny locos, the chip is nearly the diameter of the boiler!

  • i got this set 2 xmase's ago

  • Hello Great vid! :) Ive got aa question as you had said that my 18' raidus curves are between 2nd and 3rd it that fine for her to run on? thanks.

  • @tpe18509 - she will run on 2nd radius and above :)
