I have not seen this flick in about 20 years, since when I first rented it on VHS. It is a great Vietnam film, overshadowed by the more big-budget 'Nam flicks at the time, and they were a dime a dozen in the late 80's. This is just as good as those films were & fits right in with the big time if you ask me.
Quentin Tarantino stated that this was one of his favorite 'Nam films, when he interviewed the director Brian Trenchard-Smith for the "Not Quite Hollywood" DVD extras. They discuss it a bit.
I finally saw this movie last week and it was amazing--one of the best war movies I have ever seen. I'm a big fan of R. Lee Ermey and he rocked in this!
This is an A-#1 movie showing it like it was! Hard for me to watch at times.
A salute to my comrades, both living & dead, of the 1st Airmobile who were there at Razorback Ridge, Quang Tri province. We were out-fucking-standing! I miss you all.
This movie is being held up by SONY HOME VIDEO. YOU BASTARDS!!! It's a gut wrenching piece of work, but it's an honest attempt to place war in the context of several points of view. I think the Cong were given a no holds barred depiction here. A good blu-ray transfer with sound remix will show the awesome colors and mood which can be really spooky in some of the tense scenes. A Marine LRRP and Lee Ermey have a hell of fight in this one. Hope Sony gets the chopsticks out of their ass soon.
agreed brother, i remember watching this movie as a little kid. my old man was in veitnam and loved this movie and thought the world of R. Lee Ermy because he was a fellow marine. i would love to see this movie in high definition on dvd, that would be pretty fucking cool!
DVD needed badly! I bought a worn VHS copy which I treasure. This was an obscure Australian release that I discovered at the video store back when. It's a solid A+ "B" movie in my book.
I don`t know why the hell the studios are taking so long to release this... Another good Vietnam War movie Platoon Leader has yet to be released. Meanwhile some movies have been re-released like fours times by now...
I couldn't live with a crappy tape man , I had a vhs copy myself taped off of encore action or something , that's long gone . Seriously man We should start sending in our complaints to the studio everyway we can . Too many shit movies hit the market , why not bring out a classic
I LOVE THIS FUCKEN' MOVIE AND I'M GONNA WRITE TO SONY PICTURES ON AN AMERICAN RELEASE . The director himself wants the release , so does Ermey . Any of you guys want to bug sony about it . I got some contact info . You know if you demand it enough , you'll get the release it's been deserving and sooner .
i agree that this is probly the best nam movie ever, but i havent seeen it in like 10 yrs, just remember seein it all the time on TNT. and it would be nice if it was more popular or whatever so then i could rent it or buy it.
Hey, thats one of my favourite movie when i was a kid... always wanted to be an infantry soldier.. do u have full copy of this movie.. cant find dvd version on the net..

The best scene in this movie is when R. Lee Ermey walks out with a soldier's head in his hand and asks "Who does this belong to?"
