Help can you do a video on speed? like you said in this video frame rate of your eyes but what i was wondering is how fast somthing has to go before you cant see it at all?
1000 fps TVs don't exist. Framerates like that DO NOT cause headaches because your eye doesn't take in the additional information. In fact, 30 frames per second when gaming on a pc DOES cause headaches.
do a video about how we perceive light and colors and how it could very well be different for every person but we do not know because we can not describe it different because its what we've known for our whole life. Please?
One of the most interesting things I learned this video? Vsauce doesn't actually need to research anything; he actually just KNOWS it off the top of his head...
So.. cameras have a better visual then our eyes? Damn.. we seriously better not give birth to AI or we're screwed since machines are better in allot of things xD
no wonder i get annoyed at the tv's at the mall where the picture looks like real life, or almost fast forwarded. and those Geico, "thats amazing" commercials that give me headaches.! OMG THIS EXPLAINS SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I always wondered why HDTV footage seemed off! It seems kind of silly that they're taking the footage at high framerates and then adding motion blur later though. You'd think it would make more sense just to shoot/broadcast at the same lower framerates as before...
I want to see you appear in one of Wheezy's video's. He'll act like you're another clone, and then BAM. The sound of people's minds being blown. Or should I say explosion.
Finally someone who understands. I do get the diffrence of object moving and an sequence on images which create movement but the way our eyes sees those things is same. And also, the higher the framerate, the closer the video is to reality, making the video even more ''object moving in real life''-like and not just a bunch of images.
@FromHalo2halo Why not? Yes, at fast enough shutterspeed tthe tennis ball in high-fps footage is not blurry, but neither is it in real life, your eyes add that motion blur because they can't track it properly, neither can they track a fast movement on a screen archieved with so high framerate that your eyes can't detect single images. Now perhaps you could give your explanation and not just say ''go watch the video, Vsauce is the truth.''
@TigeroL42 No, you're right: there's no technical difference between high fps and life-like motion.
The way CRTs and LCDs display the frames, however, is not like real-life motion, and the resulting shutter effect - even if invisible to the eye - can still produce undesired effects for some people.
So the above video is right about headache, but wrong about what induces it.
@SexyMelon To clarify, the "motion blur" has nothing to do with the brain, but with the amount of light that falls on the eye receptors.
Just like when, if you look at the sun or a light-bulb for a short while then look away, you can still see its after-image - because the eye receptors are still excited because of the amount of light they received - the same mechanism is in play in regards to "motion blur" in the eye and on film.
@SexyMelon So motion blur has nothing to do with the brain, and the technical "framerate" an eye can process without adding "motion blur" mostly depends on how much light individuals cells receive from the moving object and the background.
Brain will usually be unable to keep up with fast events unless you focus and pay attention, but that is not "motion blur" that you see.
@SexyMelon Brain is, however, responsible for breaking down the eye's image into symbols and memory images that we can understand, even on the basic level.
On average, only 10% of what you see comes from direct information from the eyes, with the rest being filled in from memory. This can lead to amusing situations of spending five minutes searching your desk for something that's right in front of you, for example.
@solomonear that might of had to do with the way it was animated. perhaps at the regular 24 fps the animation was still jumpy because it wasn't animated perfectly to provide the illusion of movement. I think he was just trying to get a point across about fps and shizzle :)
Soo... If we see a Video with like 1000 FPS on a TV with no blur, why doesn't the brain add the blur like it does with things we see IRL? I mean, for the brain it shouldn't be a difference since theres no "limitation" of FPS in RL either
@LegendaryOutsider i thought the exact same thing myself. altho i think michael is a little confused because the fastest refresh rate of a tv (that i'm aware of) is 120Hz, which is nowhere near 1000FPS. having a frame rate higher than a refresh rate doesn't really accomplish much. so if you're a pc gamer and you try getting frame rates of 100+ while your monitor is operating at 60hz, you can either increase detail or stop spending so much on powerful video cards.
@schmidtbag 600hz is still 600fps, which is over 10x what the human eye can see. so yes he's still right. and some tv's can go over 600. anything over what our eyes can see will give us a headache. 120fps will still give you a headache, it'll just take longer. derp.
I was cutting the lawn and my dad took over to get into a hard to reach spot a stone was flicked up and it hit me on the neck everything slowed down into slow mow and i saw it coming how is this possible?
I HAVE QUESTON: Why are you remembering reading this coment when wacthing this video. Why are you not playingnout side then and not now? why arnt you walking to work on your 40 th birthday and not at home playing video games at 12? IT DOENST MAKE SENSE
