    Gracias Basie.

    21/08/1904 - 28/07/2011.

  • Shut up about GTAIV you idiots. Stop trying to get thumbs up :L

  • @VirginBurglar hey didnt I hear this in GTA? thumbs up if you heard this in GTA guyzzzzz LAWL

  • thumbs up for GTA4

  • Sonny Payne was a great drummer!

  • the balance of this recording is set off all the way to the left

  • Our middle school jazz band did this for our concert but it was an easy arrangment out of a beginner jazz book. we are nowhere near good enough to play the real thing. :)

  • It's sad that we'll probably never be able to see what this looks like in color

  • Just got our final project assigned today for my school's advanced jazz ensemble--I'm assigned to play this song on alto. I'm worried I won't do it proper justice.

  • @Fireheart228 The important thing is that your jazz ensemble is doing the song and keeping great music alive. Good luck!

  • one more time!

  • i only listen to jnr...jazz nation radio. love gta iv...nothing better than cruising through new york on a cold rainy night with soothing count basie playing all around you as you mow down innocent pedestrians...

  • Too much sax. Not enough of sweet lady trombone.

  • @progtentious I think thats just because of the recording quality, not the band itself

  • Soo smooth, melodious, understated sophisticated . . . virtuosity ! God bless them all.

  • Too bad the trombone solo is barely audible...sad

  • that my dad!!!!!!!!!!!! On the Bari sax

  • Also on "The Board Of Directors" with The Mills Brothers.Brilliant!

  • love jazz <3

  • You guys have school jazz bands? I wish they had them over here in the UK when I was at school.

  • @douglasgorney The trumpeter is Sam Noto

  • I enjoyed the video clip!

    ---------Ellen

  • Two wankers didn't like this. LOL, never fails…

  • @douglasgorney Well said Douglas! ;)

  • Nice little trumpet solo. Anyone know who that is?

  • My favorite part is how its panned all the way to the left

  • Sonny Payne, the drummer, never faiis.

  • Wow.

  • my school's jazz band is playing this! it rules! :D

  • just one more once

  • Just One More Once.

  • this is very cool, im so facinated by the old time stuff, especially the 1950's,i wanna go back to that time and see how everyone's behavior was, and their attitude towards everything, gosh ....

  • Yes, Sonny Payne is the drummer. One of the greatest...

  • @55WFL I knew his dad, Chris Columbo. Also one of the all-time greats.

  • is Sonny Payne the drummer?!

  • i love the trombone solo in the song but you cant hear it in this recording =(

  • my jazz band is playing this song also

we are going to play it at the senior citizen prom tonight

  • it was great to see a mixed crowd there on the dance floor---it was 1964, not bad---but of course in was n chi town

  • Great song, like the jazzed up version in the movie blazing saddles

  • Good Song On Gta4.. :)

  • hey! my jazz band is playing this!

  • Hmm. That was the count Basie band? I like our better. Btw I'm not stupid.

  • my jazz bands playing this! i love it

  • great.. the trombone wasnt loud enough... and the trumpets were a lil weak after the solo. jus sayin. we played this is my jazz band.

  • @FandKProductionz

    you are stupid

you can't dis the actual count basie band and think yours is better.

The reason that the trombone is quiet is because they didn't have mikes.

maybe that is the way count basie wanted it to be, not the way your band plays it.

  • @kidbuu442 IM JUS SAYIN and i aint stupid, ur the retard who insults people for giving their opinion.

  • This is the song my jazz band is playing

  • jazz band

  • we r playing this song in my high school jazz band!! the best part is def. the one more time!

  • we are playing this in my middle school jazz band!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @steelersrawsome sick what do you play? im excited cuz i get to play both my clarinet and alto!

  • i play trumpet

  • same!

  • i love it

  • one more time!

  • great song.... !!!

  • I Heard this tune at GTA IV

    It's gr8 and fantastic

  • Well, it's your mission to be a jazz ambassador and play shows and invite your friends, get them into art blakey, coltrane, herbie hancock, duke and basie and let them fall in love for themselves. What I think is missing is the opportunity to discover "real" jazz, not smooth modern watered down jazz.

So keep playing and keep spreading the word!

  • Sal Nistico on tenor!!!!

  • my school jazz band is doing this song :D

  • you're so lucky

  • @AznEquazian me too!

  • @AznEquazian so is ours

  • @AznEquazian So is mine.

  • @AznEquazian So is mine now!

  • @AznEquazian same it was enjoyable but the sax player who did most of the improv added a sort of different air less of a ballad kinda feel more of walking down an ally of a busy street if you get what i mean

  • @AznEquazian my school jazz band is doing this exact arrangment!!! when I heard this on GTA IV I flippd.

  • @AznEquazian Lincoln?

  • @AznEquazian sames

  • @AznEquazian MINE TOO!!!!!

  • @AznEquazian That's fantastic!

  • PS. to hear more hot jazz and swing recorded from nearly impossible to find 78's, check out users SwingMan1937 and Atticus70, as well as cdbpdx. INCREDIBLE TRACKS!!!! GREAT QUALITY!!! And no need to spend hundreds on mediocre box sets.

  • about the "quality" of today's mainstream music, 99% of it is rehashed from the last 15 years of pop radio. 1% of it is new or innovative in any way, and that's not worth my time. Sure there are indie bands and others (I play prog/black metal) doing their own thing, but none can touch the complexity, expressiveness, and flair of old jazz. myself included... I WANT TO REVIVE THIS MUSIC FOR YOUNG KIDS! They need to learn about "real" US history...through music!

  • @swansong6666 naw it's recycling more of the underground house and techno music than pop.

  • i'm probably the only kid in my grade (9th Grade) who understands real music. Its really sad, i wish more people appreciated stuff like this

  • Comment removed

  • Well there are some forgotten greats as well. Now what you said is viable, but Linkin Park? You might as well have said The Monkeys. LOL! This music is well constructed, and it's rare that you'd hear a garage band with this much complexity. Flea would say the same, in high school he played trumpet.

  • shitty rap nowadays dont even sample they make their own whack synth beats.

and what is wrong about hip hop artists sampling real Hip Hop makes the best out of sampling and Real Hip Hop aint about money and hos and shit its about sending a positive message.

  • Great music. This classic will be around when you and I are dead. Someone somewhere will want to listen to this.

  • Simply the best

  • hahaha i heard this from GTA IV xD

  • Yes i listen this on the game GTA IV too. really coool :D

  • @DjTonino i never thought this would relate to grand theft auto LOL

  • @chris8496 This is my favorite song of all time from the GTA series!! Besides Toto's "Hold the Line" from San Andreas lol

  • @TylerWallake

You certainly have wide-ranging tastes. I myself enjoy Wagner and Loverboy.

  • @pazzacalze Yes haha thanks. I enjoy every single type of music there is. Even Pop and Hip Hop.

  • @DjTonino NO SHIT!? It's on GTA IV? Gay Tony or The Biker's Expansion? :D

  • @40mbe GTA IV

  • @DjTonino lol me too - i found out the name by calling ZiT! XD

  • @DjTonino anche io

  • Awesome trumpet solo! Who is that trumpet player?

  • this is the best song ever

  • nothing can beat this music which created todays music :(

  • Right now in the cycle of music, or chart. we are at the lowest point, where 99% of music is garbage. Eventually the state of music will go back to the 50's -80's era.

  • exactly. Latin is coming back now, after that blues , then jazz...{idky but blues is next then jazz}...

  • Haha. Sad, but kind of funny the way you put it. I would agree that at least 95% of today's music is no good. That's why I keep listening to more and more old stuff like this on Youtube.

  • lol yeah. If my girlfriend caught me listening to this id never hear the end of it.

  • Just great!!!!

  • Classic, just classic. I love it!

  • wonderful!

  • sound quality needs to be reworked obviously the needed a metephone super series

  • Agreed, you can barely here the trombone solo

  • someone should find the version from gta 4 take out radio voiceing and put this song on

  • that's what I was looking for

  • fuck i cant believe no one has done that yet, same i was lookin for it too, great song..... from a time when musicians played instruments instead of dancing like strippers...

  • Exactly!

  • this is a classic man....

  • your tastes are obviously limited.

  • first off...such shitty music, not so shitty music.

secondly, my guess would be that your fav music is rap? well homeboy, the beats you hear in your raps come from classics such as these.

  • does anyone know "i can't stop loving you" on the same recording/video? i found it some time ago on youtube, but it ain't there any more. Which recording is this? from which year? thx

  • Cool thing is that this song is in GTA 4 lol.

  • JNR in GTA 4 actually has a good variety of jazz classics and is far and away the highest quality radio station in the game, although not the funniest.

  • Yeah, I agree. True music, and not the materialistic rap crap of today.

  • JAZZ = LOVE

  • You can really hear Charlie Fowlke's Bari growling!..and Marshall Royal's equally strong lead Alto. Basie lives forever. I wonder if anyone has a clip of the "two Franks" era band playing "Basie Goes Wess". Keep on swinging!

  • i love jazz!

  • I love Jazz too.

    Peace brother man.

  • that durmmer is crazy lol
