@Mercury072: Bruce Weber's mother died about two days prior to that game hence the emotion. I was at that game and have yet to witness such an awesome basketball event. I went to the Final Four in STL and we almost pulled off a similar comeback against UNC. We have a great young team coming up in 2010/11 and we'll be on top again soon.

It never gets old watching this. You could just feel it (the comeback) happening. I'll never forget my whole family watching it together and jumping up and own. We were all literally crying at the end.

i will admit that the wku was a good team but we should have taken care of them. In two years Illinois will hopefully be talked about nationally again. We are projected to have one of the best recruting classes (which includes luther heads little bro) and tisdale, davis, and mcamey will be seniors. Watch out Niggas! and joe blow .....suck it! The second claim is equally as legitimate since "one of the best" is basically a generic term for a team that people will remember.
Given how long college players stay before going to the draft, one season is the ONLY indicator you can use for greatness.

This was the most AMAZING sporting event I have ever attended in my entire life, and I've been to a ridiculous number of sporting events including all 3 times the Bulls clinched the NBA title in Chicago ('92,'96, and '97).
I am an Illini fan and I remember having tears in my eyes with 4 minutes left in the 2nd half.
The 2005 Illini were probably the greatest Illini basketball team ever if not one of the best college basketball teams ever.

Now with the 1997 NCAA Champion Arizona Wildcats, however, you could make a case, given that they knocked off three number one seeds, and nobody else has ever done that. If two all-time great teams happen to meet in the same season, one of them has to lose. That's just the way it is. Illinois didn't "choke" against UNC, just like Arizona didn't choke against Duke in 2001. In both years, two amazing teams met up in the title game, and someone had to lose. I can name two or three dozen national champions that the '05 Illini were better than, and probably the same with '01 Zona.

My dad is from Tucson.. Huge Arizona basketball fan. I told him just what i told him after this game when the Bears played the Cardinals and came back. Theres 5 mins left! I was bartending at work when this game was on and omg the place went nutts. It was a fucking awesome game. Plus I got to throw it in my dads face cause hes in Tucson and im in Illinois haha.
