  • I think classic rock radio should put this back into their playlist...i never hear it...Always loved the chorus and the slide guitar...

  • Heard this on my local radio station - I'd forgotten this interlude between Spirit and Jay's solo career - LOVE IT! Thanks so much for posting, have added it to my faves playlist, just a great song!!!!!

  • This is ssssssooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo blooming great

  • OMEFFIN GEEE!!.I completely 4got about this tune!..

  • HELL YEA !!!!!!!!! love that old school music -

  • L.A guns sent me here :)

  • I use to love this band. Saw them open for "Point Blank & ZZ Top" in Muncie Indiana in 73 or so...

  • Could Joe joe gun be considered as a proto metal band?

  • Great record, remember it so well from school.Always loved the guitar work, especially as I was learning to play. Good to hear it again!

  • a 70's school-disco classic!

  • @dancetech Disco? this is 1971 , not 1978

  • @Freyja1133 - no, you dont get it. school disco, as in "discoteque", the original meanin, thats what they were called - and at such a "school disco" in britain circa early 70's they played this, tamla, trex, sweet, dave & ansell collins, early slade etc, & whatever other hits that suited dancing such as the track Ressurection Shuffle. "Discos" existed long before "disco" the club genre

  • @dancetech Infact , Mark Birley opened the first discotheque in Berkeley Square (Annabels) in 1960.

Then came The Peppermint Lounge in NY in the 1960s....the term took off in the UK around 1969.

But the idea of a get together joint goes way , way back to The Cotton Club.

    Best wishes...

  • @taildragger53 - well yeah, but i was just pointing out the 70's school-disco think, not a general history lesson on clubbing lol

  • Hell yeah....

  • I forgot how much this song ROCKS! Very talented band for sure

  • Guess you gotta' be old to say this tune helped me thru my 'teens'...It did!

  • HIT that fucking spot !!!

  • Reminds me of the days and nights I spent at 'Becky's Pond'!

  • The best straight rocker song in history. I thought so when I heard it in 1972, and my

opinion has never changed. Nothing like it since. One hit wonder? This one hit is a wonder.

  • wow i was 18. wouldnt mind if the commercial charts had this quality now

  • I had forgotten all about Jo Jo Gunne -- saw them once in concert.

  • i glad i clicked on to this song i haven't heard it in years good song man

  • KILLER

  • @rivieralife1 Never saw these guys, but you know talent when you hear it! This band deserved better respect!

  • Saw Jo Jo Gunne open for the Faces at St. John's Arena at Ohio State in April 1973. If that show didn't get you rockin', then I don't what would.

  • Welcome to the party we're all just papers in the wind

  • think you hit nail on head there civitatuccillo

  • I'm not a fan of remakes or rerecordings but there's always an exception. This kicks more ass than the original! Yessss!

  • Last time I heard this song, I had full head of hair, waist was a 30, stayed out till 3 AM 4 nights a week, partied with the boys and had nothing but fun.. now, I am in bed at 10PM.

  • @Civitatuccillo Don't worry mate your not alone there. I was 9 when this track came out and I loved it then and love it now. Set the standard for all the music I listen to now.

  • loved it from the '70's, haven't heard it in 30 years or more so thanks for the gift

  • is the breakdown at the end a part of another song? I love it

  • Love it , Thank you so Much :) QC

  • Love the song. But being a big Gunne fan, there's nothing on utube from my favorite Gunne album! Where's Jumpin The Gunne? "I Wanna Love You" High School Drool" ? I have it my i tunes library. Listened to that 8 track all the way back to Mo.from N.M. in 76! In my 64 Forf Stepside pick up!~

  • Whoot!!! Love this song:) Having so much fun checking out your channel tonight!! Bravo!!! *****

  • lovin me some Jo Jo Gunne.....

  • This is a different version than on the album... sounds almost live and a lot more raw -- where did you get it? Love it and thanks for posting...

  • This is a very cool song -- love that slide guitar work... GO GO JO JO!

  • I used to have an 8x10 glossy signed by Ferguson when he was in Jo Jo Gunne

  • muy buena informacion sobre el grupo GRACIAS STLBLAIR POR SUBIR ESTO

  • This is truly Food of the Gods for my music ears. When I listen to this I can feel the rush of the wind in my hair as I blast down the road on my old Honda 750.

  • Toppermost!

  • WHAT A CLASSIC ! ! ! ! !

  • Saw them at an outdoor concert in Missouri with Brownsville Station , James Gang and Black Oak Arkansaw around 72 or 73..

  • @1unsafe1 So did I, tho I have trouble placing exactly when & where, altered consciousness being common back then, and considering the number of concerts we went to then (umm, 2-3 a WEEK!). This was Jay's best work between Spirit & his solo stuff ("You boys want some sex?"), and they rocked so hard that I seem to remember them out-performing one of the headliners (probably BOA?). Aclimade's right; this 1's their best. Goatbeach, don't forget dodging the Fuzz; I remember some frantic fanning, lol

  • lllsaw them hollywood paladium with bo diddley & savoy brown

  • Very people heard of them but I know what you all are saying Jo Jo Gunne rocked..when all music couldn't get the moment slapped in the 8track they livened up everybody!

  • ...same as foghat

  • GAAAAK!....70's pop

  • @aubreyaardvark

Put more baby powder on your rash.

  • Get that baby powder, Stat! Your rash is waiting.

  • They only had one good album - this one. Would you post Barstow Blues Eyes if you have it?

  • A great song - why didnt they make it?

  • @garylongden Good question. They were a fine live act. Ferguson was a great front man.

  • I loved goin down a loggin road sideways at 80mph wif a doobie in one hand and a rainier beer in duh udder; stoned and bulletproof

  • it was Don maclean versus this lot when I was younger.......sorry, Don scraped it fellas

  • @NowMyPoundsHaveRunOu: You're joking?

  • WOW! Serious flashback of happier, more laid back times (for me). Discovering weed, women and a whole wide world of cool shit.

  • mark andes went on to be ANN WILSON'S boyfriend while in HEART !

  • shit man; one hit wonders from early 70's. I was 11. GREAT JAM. Im 50 now. I remember going ape shit when WCFL (AM) played it and back then i thought I was S COOL putting a microphone next to speaker (no rdio/casette recorders yet)

    JAMS!

  • Met them in an airport in 72, and got to play pool and get a signed photo. Ferguson was fascinating to look at too.

  • you tube kneels and sucks SONY...and etc etc....

  • LOVE this song!!!

  • 懐かしいですね。

    JO JO GUNNE! 私が中学生の頃ちょっと流行った?バンドです。

  • Love this! Been looking for awhile, thank you for posting

  • This is what happens when a strong melody gets mediocre lyrics.

One is left wondering if this could have been an all time top 100 rock hit.

  • COOL ASS SONG THOUGH LOVE IT REMINDS ME OF T REX SORT OF

  • 2 Nimrods didnt like it , what nubs

  • great group, run, run, run The Who is a great video the best live group ever no even close all genius level. Keith died to soon John should have known he was next. Daltry best worst singer in the world and pete townshend had jimmy page help me learn and guitar both on who's 1st. biggie in USA "Can't explain" Pete could get the lead solo right Page stepped in aid you almost here the switch in the overdubbing, found that in Mac garage band sampler great way to rock--- Rock Lives JS

  • I can picture Foreigner doing this song while recording their first two albums (which I thought was their best)

  • Great song, this song should be a staple on the oldies/classic rock stations, not falling into obscurity, I actually heard this song a couple weeks ago on the 70s channel from Music Choice

  • @Doobie1975 I consider myself a music historian but did not know this one till I heard it late at night on a bumper for coast to coast am about a month ago... what a great catchy tune then last night my wife was watching an old wonder years episode and this song was on at a dance in the background. It should be on classic rock stations but I have never heard it..

  • I did it! (;

  • Slide on

  • A 'popular beat combo' should cover this today. McFly would be perfect.

  • dont remember only 39 yrs old sorry

  • @RUBIDOUXTIM missed it

  • I was doing 95m.p.h. in a 25 m.p.h. neighborhood one night listening to this song!

  • I love it !!!!,it gives you such a lift !!!!,it's this sorta stuff that inspired me to play guitar !!!!

  • Remember when I saw them as the front band for the J. Geils Band. What a great concert! And Jay Ferguson was beautiful!

  • one of my favorite moments in rock-state college.delhi ,new .york.in a moment of abandon, jay ferguson spun the microphone stand [when stands had those heavy steel bases] striking curley smith's rack toms with a direct hit.so spontaneous and so perfect.

  • I wish someone would post more songs from the jumpin the gun album. :) Please?

  • Highly underrated band. Miss them like air. Blasted them on 8-track out of the Ford Econoline as we drove around, reeking of 'Pulco Gold, trying to solve the puzzles on the caps of our Lucky Lagers, gaping at the Hippie chicks in halter tops & tie-dye. Good Days.

  • @GoatBeach Blast them is the correct term. You can't blast on cd..it distorts..I hate digital!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @GoatBeach Cool

  • @GoatBeach The best comment ever! I still miss Hippie chicks to this day. Rock on man!

  • met marc hitt from rat race choir his other band GATE'S PASS played this at the reservation on nassau blvd!! GREAT GUY!! judy from elmont..

  • set the way back machine to good times!!!

  • I like the original version better, never heard this one until introduced to the internet.

  • Wow, this kicks ass.

  • I was in Vietnam when this was popular. How appropriate.

  • My first concert, in Philly, Slade, Brownsville Station and JoJo Gunn.

  • @mhs513

    Man that's a Rockin' bill !

  • @mhs513 Slade+?

  • @lukemanify

Brownsville Station did the original version of 'Smokin' In The Boys Room'. JoJoGunn was a one hit wonder, in the U.S., Brit band with 'Run. Run, Run'.

  • That must have been a great show. I could see why these three groups would be billed together. How was Slade on that show? I love Slade.

  • @siuberto1

Philly was known as a rowdy place for bands to play. Some bands wouldn't. Slade was awesome! The seats were on fire and people were dancing in a bon fire on the floor. When Slade stated playing, in platform shoes and top hats, people were throwing firecrackers and rolls of toilet paper onto the stage. Noddy stopped the show until they stopped, and they did stop. Then he carried on with a great show!

  • I saw them in the day they Were Backup Band for Humble pie I was 14 and groovin haha

  • yeah I was about 12 when this came out, one of my earliest memories of proper rock music.

  • @larjanus Same age. Same sentiment. We are too cool.
