  • Powerful insights. But there's also another side to the story: the technologies of the information age is transforming our social interactions at a fundamental level. Other examples of such development in human society that induces paradigm shifts in our social dynamics include: the elimination of racism and social classes, direct confrontation of the society and people of different cultures, emergence of corporate structures, etc.

  • This is to all stanford gards :-

i need to ask you guys a question .....

can i get into stanford university if i got bad grades in my 10th and 9th and really good grades in my 11th and 12th

  • I could watch this guy articulate and gesticulate forever. ::) I'm actually having trouble concentrating on the message here... Oh, wait.

  • Mr Nass makes a good point! Where I come from, people (specially the young) walk around in public sending SMSs on their mobile phones...even when crossing the street! People here who are overly addicted to the boob tube, PC and electronic gadgets are like zombies who are not mindful of their surroundings including other people.

Hence, very poor interpersonal skills. Many second guess the other person.

This my child do not and will never do. She's nicely mindful even if exposed to the PC.

  • In face-to-face chats, you can touch, smell and share stuff such as showing the other a verse or literature or a book.

In the youtube, the tube doesn't talk back when you wish to ask.

Maybe mattyisagod wanna be brawly? Ehem...

  • Not only did I 'like' this video but, fav'ed it too! :)

  • it took me 7 minutes to notice the black rectangle to the viewer's right.

  • This guy actually has a good point!

  • what about watching faces on youtube videos? does it need to be real life face to face contact to get the benefits?

  • Great message.

My dad always taught me to make eye contact, so I would always try to look people in the eye when we were talking. In middle school, my friends began to tell me that they always felt claustrophobic around me because I'd always be leaning in to look them in the eye! So, in high school, I gradually made less and less eye contact, and now, I have to force myself to give proper attention to others...

  • @milkncookies32, your Dad did really splendid in raising you to become a mindful child.

If others feel claustrophobic with your ways, maybe they get defensive and/or wanna hide something from you.
