  • The good news is...The dogs stopped chasing us while trying to launch after that.

  • I filmed this in Mexico in 2007. Two problems... #1 I am filming from my hotel balcony and there were one story buildings lined up to the right of me. #2 the wind was slightly offshore, which is why the pilot was launching in the direction he was. --- Those two conditions caused the pilot to pull too much left brake to avoid running into the buildings and with the motor torque caused the wing to stall.

A new prop and straightening of the titanium cage and he was flying again a few hours later.

  • Simply caused by asymetric blade thrust from having the unit sat too far back. This caused right side of machine to produce far more than left which caused the twist. High hang points didn't help. The only pilot error was having the machine set up wrong and being over powered. Been teaching ppg since 1994 and seen this more times than i can remember. It is also the cause of oscillations that are so often blamed on the wing. An excellent instructional video. Thanks and hope you didnt get hurt.

  • torque +applied the wrong brake

  • i like the dog at the end :)

  • Love that dog!

Maybe he wants to have a go with that wing!

    Glad you didn't get hurt.

  • at first time watching all this crashing videos, it made me scared to learn for it. but after a few , my perception totally changed ! it makes me even eager to learn for it and have a strong will that not to be on the recording for crashed..

rules of the air " every take off is an optional , but every landing is a must " :)

  • It looks like it was torque steering left and towards the wind which should have been his intended direction of turn. In any case all low time pilots should take-off straight into wind and build up to cross wind take-offs and landings.

  • Hello, I am a paramotor-magazine writer in Japan. I am interested in this video. A friend of mine was died by similar situation. May I pick up this video as a reference for the next article please?

  • don't fly in heavy winds..

you have to be an expert to do that

  • OMG he crashed a MAC glider... Totally unnacceptable!!!!!!

  • He did EVERYTHING wrong:

    -incomplete canopy raise

    -too much throttle

    -crosswind

-applied the wrong brake on trouble (right side)

I'm glad for him he had the chance to crash on a soft beach from 3 M height. He would have crashed anyway that day...

  • Poor dog...

  • The pilot put brakes before inicial take off (high angle of attack ), don´t leave the wing take uper position and apply full trottle, bad combination... hope he´s Ok

  • Guess it is cross wind launch. The left side of the canopy goes higher making the pilot rotate to the left. Hope he is OK.

  • @climb1028 READ MOST OF YOUR EXPERIENCED VIEWS.I ONLY FOUND ONE THAT MATCHED MY OWN THOUGHT AND THAT PERSON WAS ....bmradux.TO CUT THE WORDING DOWN. PILOT ERROR....NONE OF US ARE PERFECT AND IF WE WAS PERFECT WHATS THE USE OF LIVING ANYWAY.SOMETIMES THE MISTAKES WE MAKE WE CAN LEARN BY.HAVE YOU EVER HEARD THE SAYING "EITHER LEARN THE HARD WAY OR THE EASY WAY" BUT SOME DONT GET TO LEARN THE EASY WAY.BUT I SAY .....FLY SAFE TO ALL :0) LIVE AND LEARN AND DONT DIE

  • The very first reaction in a situation like this is to partially release power. i think it is important thoug to not fully release power, as the wings high angle of attack and slow speed would cause the pilot to hit the ground quiet uncontrolled. I am not a ppg expert, so please correct me if i am wrong. I hope the pilot is ok?

  • @lenn888

    yes, good analysis

    paramotoren.eu

  • It's a dog's life!

  • He's also taken off cross wind, look at the windsock direction?

  • ouch! was he ok?

  • Too much brakes on take off

  • look at the right hand side of the wing, his hands are nearly up but there seems to be brake on

  • canopy straps ? What do you mean by this.

  • i agree with mochamon. plus there are ways to counter the torque.e.g adjustment of canopy straps.etc.plus you cant get any easyer taking off by the seaside.less power as long as you gain height.all down to the pilot.i fly with high hang point and also have a powerfull engine smn 130 castelluccio for tandem use also

  • it's not just the high hang point, it's poor piloting.

  • It was very poor piloting indeed. He nearly had a prop strike as he was leaving the ground. No technique at all, not good.
