shame about the extra kip. I always like NK's bars. Although they're always somewhat sloppy, they have a really nice rhythm and flow in their routines.
The extra kip might not be a deduction. She went all the way to handstand and then kipped again. I think gymnasts can do as many kip, cast, handstands, as they want in a routine, pretty much.
An extra swing is a deduction. Sometimes gymnasts do a kip, cast after they do an extra swing but it's the extra swing that's getting deducted not the kip because a kip is a coded skill. I think the judges actually can take off for the hand shifting she did on the cast.
"2007 bar routine was deducted for each extra giant throughout. " There's a rule that says more than two giants before the dismount is a deduction but I think that's the only time. On YT sometimes there is wrong information about the code because people think the rules from their own country's modified code count in the FIG. Or they could just be wrong. The popular MBs are better places to ask. There is also a yahoo group called Ask the RTC where you can ask a Brevet judge questions.

I guess code-wise it's not deductable, but the judges definitely would know that it's a mistake, and they would most probably deduct it as a break.
And is the extra kip really not deductable? I think I've heard that it is a deduction for doing an unnecessary kip.

I see. So that makes sense now. The judges definitely take tenths off for that, that's for sure.
However, I remember someone said that Ivana Hong's 2007 bar routine was deducted for each extra giant throughout. Is that true?
