I just changed my 156watts light to 192 watts today, I think 192watts its high light. My BABY TEARS DWARF HC need high like to grow, half of my BABY TEARS DWARF HC its dead by aquarium salt when i put the salt in to my tank to protection my guppys friend.
I saw good result when i put 12 algae eater in my 40gallons tank. they ate all algae that's grow all over leafs and made all leafs so clean now. Right now im worry about the algae growing on ground.
If the algae eaters help on the leaves. They should be able to help on the ground too with the assumption that it's the same type of algae that the algae eaters will eat. Certain type of algae will not be eaten by certain algae eaters.
My tank is about 40gallons and i have 156watts of light. I keep the light on for 8-10 hours/day but i don't make the water change weekly because when i make the water change about %50 so i have to lose alot of my guppy friend. I just bought 12 algae eater from local store, they cost me about $40 for them. I put 12 algae eater in my tank and after a week i saw good result. The algae eater that i bought they're very small and they can grow up to less than 2inch. They're good for small tanks
oh ic, how to keep your tank so clean and without algae. My tank have too many algae growing in my tank and i don't know why its happen like that. maybe i have too many fish and make the water cloud to make algae easy to grow? Please help. thanks
It's not possible to have an algae free tank. What we can do is to reduce them. Weekly or even daily maintenance will definitely help. The maintenance frequency depends on what plants you're having. Some are high maintenance - moss and riccia are in this category. You need to find out the way to balance CO2, fertiliser and amount of light (I have to do trial & error to see the result). The way to fight algae is different for different type of algae.
Nowadays, I use about 30-36 watt of light for 15 gallon tank (estimate for 2 watt per gallon). The Kelvin of the light also plays a role (google for the correct value coz I cannot remember it). I keep the light on for 8 hours (4 hours on, 2 hours off, 4 hours off and remaining of the day the light is off). CO2 is estimated at about 3 bubbles per second. Weekly partial water changes (about 50% for me. More if required).
I use Seachem Potassium & Seachem Phosphorus on weekly basis (amount is following the instruction on the bottles). I only inject Seachem Excel with a syringe directly into the BBA if it strikes my tanks.
Hi, when i take the water change i have to add the aquarium salt for protected my guppys friend. The aquarium salt could make damage to the live plants? Thanks
Yes, the salt may cause some problem to some plants - depending on the sensitivity of the type of plants. Some will die. Some will not do well. Some will be fine (Elodea is fine based on my experience). I don't use salt anymore now.
1. Use proper filter such as Hang On The Back filter or canister filter (depend on the size of your tank). There are other filters but these are the best based on my personal opinion.
2. I change 10-50% of the water once a week. Occasionally I do it once in 2 weeks
Where did you get your mosses?

my 156watts of light, its medium or high?
d2jsp911 2 years ago
3.9 watt per gallon. I think it's medium but I am not 100% sure. So far all my tanks have not reached 3 watt per gallon.

in about to set a planted tank, i understand lighting, i understand co2, water conditions but im not sure about the substrate and fertilizing.
What substrate are u using and what do u use to fertilize?
DonnnixD 3 years ago
I'm using Holland sand with Seachem root tab. I also add Seachem Potassium, Flourish and Nitrogen on weekly basis

can u fit 2 archer fishes and a mono inside a 2 ft tank like yours?
yacobacs 3 years ago
I think archer fish is too big for this tank. You should get a bigger tank. 3 feet perhaps? I am not an archer fish expert though.

thats really cool
you should consider carpeting the bottom in some kind of moss or grass or tears.
eastoff2 3 years ago
It has been rescape. I threw all the riccia and vallisneria. Added Marsilea as the carpet. The video is available here as well.

In reality, it's not light colour. It is Holland sand :)
