His appearance (the costume and makeup) are different here, and he's less intense in his actions and in his dialogue post-Goblet of Fire.

I have to admit, being a Voldemort ‘fan’ I was disappointed with this portrayal. In the book he is much less brazen, more calm and controlled (except for moments of extreme anger). He moved around slowly and with a powerful air, not running around! He also had very pale skin (it looks almost green here), red eyes, a high voice and was very tall (I'm being picky lol). I think the best portrayal of Voldemort was in the first film, this Voldemort is not the same one portrayed in the first film.

I love Ralph's portrayal of Voldemort. I guess some fans just want him to be a generic, "scary" villain, but I love how Ralph's interpretation makes it seem like he's having the time of his life in this new body. I think a villain who visibly shows pleasure in your pain is far creepier.

You know, most of this movie was garbage but Ralph Fiennes' delivery, at least as far as speech is concerned, was impressive. Particularly when his voice abruptly changes to calm and mocking when he says "the boy who lived", before switching back to his role's regular hoarse voice. I do agree, though, that his body movements gave the impression that he was flailing about like a cartoon character. A bit over-dramatic for the character who is later seen in the dullest opening chapter in book seven

I thought the graveyard scene in goblet of fire really ruined the character. He looked really weird and when he was 'torturing' harry, Voldemort yelling was just really weird and didn't make him seem nearly as 'evil' as he should of been :(

In the first film, Voldemort tried to use the killing curse on Harry back when he was a baby but the curse bounced off of Harry and hit Voldemort which destroyed his body in the process. At the film's conclusion, Voldy was pasted on the back of Quirrel's head and when Harry touched him, Quirrel's body was incinerated into ashes.

Voldemort had to inject some of Harry's blood into his body in order to cancel out Lily's protection spell.
