I dont agree with you, I free think you are a SNob. A snob takes one element of a person and bases its oppinion on that one thing. You take one thing, be it correct or not correct, and run with it. Snobbery is not free tthinking. I dont like emotionel blackmail and your looking in the wrong place, goodbye.
Not only are you free to disagree - as pointed out by Cimbolic - but you're also free to shit all over the English language, and throw its grammatical rules out the proverbial window. After all, who the Hell needs apostrophes and all that spelling stuff anyway? Words with two letters side-by-side are far more interesting to look at than words without them. I persoNally love to throw in an upper case letter or tWo when I write, as well. Good for you(¡) o_O
I condemn them both, Dawa overeacted and needs to grow up a little. Thunderfoot as the older, more educated more popular poster, went WAY overboard compared the muslim people (all of them, not the extremists) to ants and called us gods. then advocated genocide. I unsubscribed because that was not in tone with rationalism. Two young men in need of wisdom. One much more educated man who needed some humility and "enlightenment" (something he claimed to have more of).

If we begin to question whether or not our thought is free, we must eventually arrive at the fact that we are confined to thinking within the languages we know.
Our language is the material used to formulate our thoughts and therefore confines us as well. It allows or prohibits the expression of concepts.
I contend that we cannot fully appreciate the limits of our thought because of this barrier, unless we learn new languages.
@AlexanderEddy language is the medium in which we express thoughts. Culture is what largely what determines them. Learning a new language is irrelevant without engaging in the discourse community that uses it - be a part of the genre. It's no mistake Westerners prefer individualism and assertions of viewpoints, while Eastern cultures value interdependence, silence and listening. Language itself will not erase indoctrination of culture, but keeping an active mind can open possibilities.
You have a good point that he cannot be held responsible for the actions of his subs.
But he could make a statement encouraging them not to make prejudicial comments and harass others. He could use his influence with them. They are, after all, HIS subs.
@Cimbolic i didnt realize that when people choose to subscribe to you that you unwittingly inherit some form of parental responsibility to police them and ensure that they do not express their own views, especially if they can be attributed to you simply because they subscribed to you... O.o
Implying that all of his subscribers are children that need to be monitored works to your detriment, as it makes you look like the one making assumptions while claiming righteousness.
If you know they are prejudiced and hateful and you focus their attention on what you know will become a target of that hate and prejudice, it is your moral responsibility to discourage their expression of hate.
@Cimbolic - Moral Responsibility?? So your attempting to say that inaction is culpable? Can I say that your inaction in freeing Tibet makes you morally responsible for China's occupation? Do you thus hate Tibetans? Seriously, there is no moral responsibility to manipulate other people into doing what YOU consider the right thing. Morality cannot be policed, to do so is immoral. Hate is not thought, but policing hate is a passive aggressive form of hate. Irony much?
@Cimbolic - His action? Posting videos? DId he say in his videos "I want you to go to Cimbolic's videos and post really mean spiteful prejudiced comments!"? If he did not, then he has no right to admonish people for expressing their own freedoms simply because they coincidently agree with him. It would be different if he commanded his subscribers to go out and spread hate and bigotry, but he never did. Free will is still free, and it seems your own hate is showing.
Exactly, you hit the nail on the head. People must have freedom of thought, they must have freedom of religion, otherwise, how could they possibly have free speech? When we treat muslims like criminals for being criminals, we abridge their freedom of thought, and when we demand they make political statements we provide for them, without even listening when they say what we want, we're abridging their freedom of speech too.

@Cimbolic That's a great idea. Thunderfoot needs to be exposed as a hate monger, not a "guardian of freedom". I find it quite illuminating how people are unable to comprehend that he threatened the muslims of the world. If a muslim said such things, they'd easily recognize it as the insane over the top threat which it is, but if you say that to a muslim it doesn't count, because their lives don't count.
You covered the positives now lets look at the downside of being a free thinker so that potential "would be" free thinkers know what they are getting into:
1. Sometimes you have to go against the majority, friends, family, and personal heroes
2. Your free thoughts could cause you a lot of pain especially if you are vocal
3. Free thought requires you to consider a myriad of different of options which is a lot of work
you remind me of Dr. Rendal Mabye he was a philosopher, a "hilbilly" from West Virginia. man i could hang with Chomsky all day and not get enough. it is strange how mainstream media ignors the likes of Chomsky and focus on Shaun Hannidy
Prejudice is something we're all born with it seems. Same goes with the sheep mentality. Both serve a purpose. The purpose is that we make sense of the world quickly... so we don't get paralysed and start doubting all that we do. But of course, there is a point where these traits will be our fall. We should not blame people just for having prejudice for this reason. We should encourage them still to loose them. Struggling with these default traits is a virtuous life worth pursuing.
@Censeo Very very well put. Again, I will let the Muslims speak for their own faith, but to me, what you just described in the last sentence is the real jihad. I call it virtue (my 'hero' was always Socrates), but whatever name you call it, that struggle is something in and of itself.
@Anekantavad thanks Anekantavad. It has to start somewhere and that is within yourself. Most people just think prejudice is something only bad people have. This is a hinder to even begin the struggle, because you try any mental gymnastic to not label yourself a bad person. If you realize good people have these traits, you might just be more inclined to find your own.
@Censeo I do not agree that we are born with prejudice. We learn prejudice from people around us and the struggle is to let go of what others tell us is true and find the truth ourselves.
Giving up prejudice is easy if you are willing to try,
for free thoughts to bear fruits it needs a gun,a big one these days,so becarfull muslims and keep ur arms up.
