You should use the term Climate change. Your idea isn't that bad, but it won't solve anything. Green roofs isn't the way to go, the concentration of concrete absorbing heat and the skyscraper obstructing the flow of air is what make the temp in the big cities higher. It is a waste of time trying to prevent climate change, we can avoid small things like flooding, but we can't avoid hurricanes, earthquake, excessive heat or cold, however we can adapt or improve the way we are creating societies.

Grown forests are neutral and do not draw CO2 in net amounts once they are established. Trees only capture Co2 while they grow, and in very little amounts anyway compared to the amounts industry releases. Also, most of the Co2 release/capture action happens in the oceans. Also, the surface of all cities is minuscule compared to the cleared land used for farming. Start by turning farms into forests, not cities, and then come back to us. Only real way is for 95% of us to die, including me.

present mass extinctions is a myth. With the exception of frogs which the cause of the BD fungus is unknown.

Humans had a mass termination a few times in our history we didn't contribute it to over population even though it was a result soiled living conditions (black plague and small pox.) 75K years ago we almost became extinct with less then 10K left on the planet again not a result of over population of the species.
