@cobone1 Well from all info I can get the largest change in the language is in the prounonciation and that cannot be as easly seen by looking at the written language that has changed less. So I think you would understand less of the Classical language unless you know it's prounonciation as well.

However the guy who makes this video distorts the truth because unlike Greeks, The whole of Turkey is not ethnically closely related and once you get into the center of Turkey, the genetic similarities disappear, yet these people are by Turkish too.

Turks also have 100 F35 planes on order and are debating whether to buy 40 euro fighter. Yeah, i agree that there are a lot of similarities between Greeks and Anatolian Turks, mainly because the main characteristic to distinguish a Turk and a Greek came to be religion. We lived with each other for plenty of years, and a lot of Greeks became muslims in Anatolia even by force (which is well documented). Religion is what separate us mostly i believe nowdays. @cobone1 Well from all info I can get the largest change in the language is in the prounonciation and that cannot be as easly seen by looking at the written language that has changed less. So I think you would understand less of the Classical language unless you know it's prounonciation as well.

Accept that the they spoke a dialects of classical greek that hade many diffrence to the modern greek that decends from it.
And they hade Hellenic religion that seemed to have been a mix of various belifes including Indo-European and and pre-Indo-European element.
But genetics show that the Anatolians became Turkish trough cultural and language shift and not so much of a population replacment.

The Ottoman empire had many Greeks, Slavs and other peoples who made up it's administration, particularly in western parts of Turkey. During the occupation Greeks who converted to Islam became known as Turks, and a good portion of this remained until the war, where all muslims, be they of Greek or of Turkic origin were expelled. These later settled in what is today western Turkey.

The war is over but the injustice continues. Anyway the problem is the Turkish state not the Turkish people. There are still unresolved issues though. Do you know that Greeks (the ones that are still in Istanbul) cannot inherit the property of their fathers? The Turkish justice forbids that... It is confiscated by the Turkish state.

Turkey had expelled all Greeks living in Istanbul, Imvros and Tenedos by intimidation, murders, confiscation of their property and phisical expaltions, whereas Greece has respected their muslim minority. That muslim minoriy is still in their homes, they still have their property, they have their school learning their language. The Greeks though were forced to abandon Turkey. Do you understand why we hate them?
