I find it difficult to understand phonetics.. Anyway, thank you for made it available! Now I try to learn it because I need it for school and my studies.
n this lesson we look at the phonetic alphabet. Some people think that this is a helpful tool for improving spoken English, while others feel that phonetics slows down the process of learning English and makes it dull and boring!
Mr. Duncan. I really appreciate what you do for us. I got a question for you. Which is what's the best way to memorize vocabulary? It's the hardest part for me to learning English now. Could you send your answer by email. My email is " xmin.lalu@gmail.com" thanks for everything.
Hi there. This is a great introduction to phonetics and IPA Thanks. I have also made a video about the IPA symbols. It is an interactive phonetic chart. You can click the symbols on the screen and you will hear the sound.

Hello I really admire the way you conduct different lessons. I have used these with my students who aimed at improving their spoken English. They were also delighted to have such helpful sessions. Hopefully you would continue to make learning English language easy for non native speakers.Bundle of thanks from Pakistan
Phonetics is an area that most of learning English speakers feel afraid and frustrated. But Phonetics is necessary for people who wanna speak English more fluently, and I don't indicate to people who only want repairing Phonetics for passing TOEFL's speaking test. Phonetics is related to Pronunciation, learning Phonetics and improving your Pronunciation are best ways to make yourself understood by English speakers.
@tentolanam , Excuse my, i dont'speak well, but I wished alone, to do a witty remark, Mr Duncan is a excellent teacher, and resemble wandery at Elton John.
the phonetics are so important to learn cuz it learns us how to pronounce the words correctly and the codes are not so difficult to remember , i have learnt them in a book which is called phonetics , really useful book and help people who has problems with pronounciation in general or in a specific letters like th :)
hello mrduncan your videos are great. I would appreciatte if you teach me how to pronounce the words that start with "th" like THIRTY for example. I heard that some people pronounce with the "f" and others with the "t". some say teri and other say it feri. thanks
Maybe the process is dull and boring, but with the help of these alphabets, you would be able to pronounce any unfamiliar words in Dictionaries. As a result, you will learn volcabularies faster and you will be more active to read English.....the outcome then, is obvious.

I think your videos are great! I really like the way you teach. However, I have been looking for more phonetics, more differences between sounds as sh - ch, g - j. Can you make some videos base on these sounds, please?
wow..Thank You So Very Much Sir..Thanks a BuNdLe..as usual you are doing an excellent Job...i never ever learn Phonetics..today first time i learn it from you...you are so very special and VIP l for your students because you are doing special hard work for us..i would like to say you a very special ThAnK YoU..Thanks for special Hello to us...from Pakistan..
I found your video very interesting. Since you started the topic on Phonetics, are you thinking of teaching about stress and intonation too? That would be lovely!
what i can say to your video is "WOW".. this is what i looking for..you have a great idea to make people enjoy with english..keep it up the good job...
I *love* your videos, but I have a feeling this one was a bit rushed. Don't you think it would be better to go into more depth? For example, many languages don't have the sounds "th", people don't even know how to pronounce them - do you think it would be helpful if they knew that these are dental fricatives, and what it means? I know that e.g. the vowel map was helpful for me. And how about the rhythm and melody?
Awesome! keep up the good work. A bunch of thanks for your great effort Mr. duncan. I am watching all your video lessons non-stop. Your unique way of teaching doesn't make me feel tired :D
THANK YOU!!!! i'm used to hear american english and it sounds so different from British english, and because I'm going to work in the UK I have to get my ear used to your pornunciation which i think is much more beautiful! Kisses from Spain!!
Yes another great lesson and the topic of phonetics is tied to pronunciation and is one of the things I consider most interesting about learning english. Thanks once more!
This is a very short but quite good introduction into phonetics. However, I doubt if one can learn phonetics over the internet. I think you must have a skilled tutor, who would correct your misporunciations and guide you how to use your organs of speech properly.
Hello! This is your friend from Canaries, Spain. Thanks a lot for your video.English was my 'A' subject until I met Phonetics.I've been told I pronounce perfectly, but with 'Mr.Gimson' and others in University it's became a hell. What about American pronunciation? You do it much better! It's like the English I've always studied.Don't worry;I'll find a teacher of Phonetics sonner or later. Thanks anyway! Bye and good luck!
Hi! It is a great way to learn phonetics! It is more fun than having my phonetics teacher teaching me that! I was wondering if you have some lesson about tonegroups or British intonation?
I will appreciate that, because I'm studying them at college and they are not easy to learn!
I don't like it lol! I used to work as a class room assistant in the UK, and I swear those teachers did not know this alphabet! Great bunch of clips you've made here, Duncan, I'm sending some to my friends around the world!
My name is metaliphuong. I come from Viet Nam. I found you clips on Youtube 3 months ago. Since then, I have downloaded most of your clips into my Ipods and listened to it every day. I must admit i has become one of your big fans. I must write and thank you for all your videos and contributions. I wish you a good health and a happy life.
thanks for you, Misterduncan. i think some video materials are very useful for my students, so i want to download them , but i don't know how to do so. would you like to tell me how? Thanks a lot.

I *love* your videos, but I have a feeling this one was a bit rushed. Don't you think it would be better to go into more depth? For example, many languages don't have the sounds "th", people don't even know how to pronounce them - do you think it would be helpful if they knew that these are dental fricatives, and what it means?
