I liked this movie, I thought the reviews were right about it but no. It´s actually a highly entertaining movie. Best I´ve seen of this genre, not pretentious at all, just entertaining and suspensful enough.
about half way through I kinda figured that the main character was Alice. But not enough story-line here... it's too much suspense and not enough story.

Piracy is good for everyone, but only if we go buy a movie we liked. That way only good movie directors will earn money and not bad movie directors, The talented ones get rich, and the boring ones get poor, I dont think buying a movie to see if its good or bad is right, because that way every movie, good or bad, wins money they don't deserve.

the graphics and editing is bad but the story of this film is realistic because when some people goes through traumatic experiences like rape sometimes they lose their minds.
E.g. One flew over the cuckoos nest = excellent movie. This is the standard that directors should aim for, to achieve a third of this standard in todays terms would be greatly welcomed and all will be well: the viewers will be better in tune as regards what IS actually good as opposed to what they perceive to be good, the producers will still reap their rich dividends but of course the director and crew would have to work much harder, but people seem content with mediocrity so it goes on...
So one needs to pay to be allowed to criticize mediocrity or worse and beggars shouldn't be choosers? Granted, it is no doubt an arduous task to make a good movie but I don't think such rubbish should be exempt from due criticism the same way a good movie should be lauded. I believe more frequently better movies would be made if peoples standards weren't conditioned so low.
Yes I have watch this movie and it's my opinion that it's clichéd crap, borrowing from Shutter Island, Cuckoos nest, T2. Whatever about lobotomies, which were carried out at some stage, you can bet people were indeed raped by male orderlies when in such a defenceless position and yes there certainly was and are decent orderlies but there are some awful brutes too, to be sure.
I know of one place in my city which was renowned for cruelty which to this day is said to be haunted.
it's so hard to make movies this days, with the piracy and all. the fact that producers still tries to make it, viewers should just appreciate! i see comments here that this is a crappy horror film but did you actually pay to watch or just downloaded it? if you just downloaded it shut the fuck up! you dont have the right to complain because you got it for free
@TheJasrich When I have a method of getting a piece of media that allows me to watch it on my computer when I want then I pay for it. Every time there is a barrier to me watching it the way I want to it reduces the odds of me buying it. Basically if torrenting is easier than paying for it I will probably torrent it. When a band I like puts theri music up for sale in .mp3 on their website, I buy it. When a movie is available for paid download that works on linux I pay for it.

2) If anything, movie profits have skyrocketed with the coming of the internet. This is a fact. Piracy may be harmful for music (debatable) or software (most likely) but movies and series are profiting from the constant and increased exposure of the whole world to their products. If it wasn't for piracy most people wouldn't give a damn.
3) This is a good flick, Carpenter, although formulaic now, delivers.

Holy fucking shit, this was a good movie. The ending was great... If you've seen this and want something alike, I HIGHLY recommend Shutter Island... The plot is great and the ending is fantastic.

Got to say this film is a ridiculous advert for care homes. I mean seriously, every girl is well groomed and HAWWTTT!!! Dunno what was more horrible - the pointless zombie who was everything but scary or the annoying soundefects that did nothing but startled me. The ending? Predictable. I already turned the sound lower. The idea of the story was interesting, but all the bad stuff smothered it. In brief - this movie was a waste of time for me.
This was a great movie. You have to watch it ALL the way through to understand what is going on. (why the girls have makeup, are dressed well, etc.) I thought it had a great plot and I did not see the end coming. I am a huge John Carpenter fan and I give him a standing ovation for coming and and creating this awesome suspense movie with and epic twist.
Gave 20 minutes of my time to watch this movie, that was more then enough. Horrible acting, the plot is used up, all the "crazy" girls there obliviously knew very well how to put make up on and fix their hair with little personal items in their bedrooms, and it all just made me sit and wait for a sleazy porn music to start playing in the back.
god damn it, after watching 14 seconds of this clip i found the movie and watched it......... it took me several minutes to predict the ending, and actually watching the whole movie assuming the ending (which i was right about) at least i was able to enjoy seeing that all the dialogue properly lined up, but it totally takes the enjoyment of thepay off out of it when you know the ending.

in this movie... the killer is a girl named alice hudson,and apparently this "Kristen" girl suffers from multi personality disorder. in the movie, "Kristen" finds out that she is alice hudson, the killer. the mental insitution squashes the psycho out of her and she becomes a normal girl and lives happily ever after with her parents

As a serious John Carpenter fan who hasn't seen this film I can't say if it's any good or not. But I will say whoever cut the trailer looks like a recent film school grad who's never watched a JC movie in his life.
The problem with movies like this is that they all end the same. This movie could have been great. It was chock-full of suspense and Amber Heard didn't do too bad as the lead. Unfortunately, the cheap/generic ending brings this one down COMPLETELY.

Watched it on sky movies,
on the whole its not amazing, hence the low reviews and to be fair the whole split personality thing is a hard concept to get right,
but in hindsight after watching it there are a lot of things that do actually tie in with the story that you don't notice the first time viewing,
but it should have had more hints about the ending, it was a bit of a sudden realisation

Why don't the American people go marching in protest against the s''' that Hollywood continues to dish out (this garbage included) instead of paying for their mansions, yachts etc. Carpenter has seriously undone his legacy.
Why not make a TRUE horror story regarding mental institutions rather than painting this pretty picture of polite and considerate orderlies etc., inclusive of torture and rape, herding of people into cells like livestock, Est, lobotomies etc. etc.

Holy fucking shit, this was a good movie. The ending was great... If you've seen this and want something alike, I HIGHLY recommend Shutter Island... The plot is great and the ending is fantastic.

Got to say this film is a ridiculous advert for care homes. I mean seriously, every girl is well groomed and HAWWTTT!!! If it was Meatballs there would be a bunch of guys steaming up the windows trying to get in. Pretty sure teenagers that see this film will get ideas about raiding the looney bin for talent. Good ending, definitely worth a watch

Dunno what was more horrible - the pointless zombie who was everything but scary or the annoying soundefects that did nothing but startled me. The ending? Predictable. I already turned the sound lower. The idea of the story was interesting, but all the bad stuff smothered it. In brief - this movie was a waste of time for me.

This was a great movie. You have to watch it ALL the way through to understand what is going on. (why the girls have makeup, are dressed well, etc.) I thought it had a great plot and I did not see the end coming. I am a huge John Carpenter fan and I give him a standing ovation for coming and and creating this awesome suspense movie with and epic twist.

Gave 20 minutes of my time to watch this movie, that was more then enough. Horrible acting, the plot is used up, all the "crazy" girls there obliviously knew very well how to put make up on and fix their hair with little personal items in their bedrooms, and it all just made me sit and wait for a sleazy porn music to start playing in the back.

god damn it, after watching 14 seconds of this clip i found the movie and watched it......... it took me several minutes to predict the ending, and actually watching the whole movie assuming the ending (which i was right about) at least i was able to enjoy seeing that all the dialogue properly lined up, but it totally takes the enjoyment of thepay off out of it when you know the ending.
and i always do...... damn this ridiculous brain of mine and its cognitive powers

@portftwmuchXD it went over your head? i knew the ending from the first few minutes of the movie........ it was all the same chick and they telegraphed it right at the beginning and repeatedly gave you proof of it all the time "like the scene when kristen holds knife to the girl's throat and the nurse says "you're only hurting yourself"

in this movie... the killer is a girl named alice hudson,and apparently this "Kristen" girl suffers from multi personality disorder. in the movie, "Kristen" finds out that she is alice hudson, the killer. the mental insitution squashes the psycho out of her and she becomes a normal girl and lives happily ever after with her parents

The problem with movies like this is that they all end the same. This movie could have been great. It was chock-full of suspense and Amber Heard didn't do too bad as the lead. Unfortunately, the cheap/generic ending brings this one down COMPLETELY.
