  • i never had the pleasure of playing castlevania games, because i didnt get much word of them... i played mario, legend of zelda, mortal kombat, megaman X, and many other games, but never castlevania.

my first true castlevania game was symphony of the night which i bought on PSN... after experiencing that masterpiece, the rest of the series is gonna seem very odd to me.

  • I might be getting this for PSP, and I'd like to ask a question: Can you dash?

    Because he's moving pretty slow....

  • Is this game fun? Thinkin of playin it on psxoid

  • yeah castlevania 4 music

  • that music...

  • Beating Dracula with only 1 HP left... you are great!

  • so do you need a playstation controller with a usb exstension or can you use the keyboard?

  • Castlevania games like this are the hardest. The movement is stiff, and timing has to be perfect or you get hit.

  • Once again it's PS1 (or as they say on psn "PSone") it is not called PSX. "PS-X (PlayStation Experimental) was an internal code name for the PlayStation during development"

  • @brutalhits as I remember, everyone called the Playstation PSX before the release of the smaller PSone model and PS2 in 2000. It wasn't a Playstation 1 until there was a Playstation 2, it was PSX. That's what all the magazines and shops abreviated it as.

  • @durananrananrananran Yeah I also heard it was the working title for the console before it was out. Just like the Sony NGP (next gen portable) now has an actual name (PS Vita)

  • @durananrananrananran But you're saying before the smaller model? Hm that's not right. I don't remember anyone or any shop calling it PSX ever at all. I've only seen people online call it PSX.

  • @durananrananrananran The PS (or PS1) is unofficially referred to unofficially as PSX, wiki does state that. but it simply is not the same of the console. It was the working title and it's a "Sony digital video recorder with fully integrated PlayStation and PlayStation 2 video game consoles" (only released in japan)

  • @durananrananrananran Anyway so unofficially still means its wrong :P

  • @brutalhits unofficial yes, but it's what people called it, I remember it. Let's not argue about semantics, let's just enjoy the games//

  • I LOVED THIS GAME!! Awesome graphics and little nods to CV history scattered about! My fave levels where the one with the HUGE statue that cries blood and the one with the little toys that come to life!

  • @rang3r34 does it go in a linear style where you just get to the end of the level or is it like symphony of the night where its like metroid where there are save spots and subweapons

  • @trashman654 It is linear just like the old CV games and has the old-school sub weapons, but it is VERY worth tracking down and playing! The levels have to be seen to be believed!

  • @rang3r34 oh thanks also in dracula x chronicles for the psp is symphony of the night that is unlockable the same as the PS1 version or are differences to be considered

  • @rang3r34 how many levels are there in castlevania chronicles

  • thats one of the worst walking animations ive ever seen

  • @GamerEly

You're just mad because you can't walk like that.

  • @GamerEly its a well known fact that only belmonts can do the awkward strut

  • Wow, this game is awesome! I just beat it! Great music, great graphics! Amazing detail in the dungeons with bodies hanging and lying around...good stuff! Way better than the original nintendo castlevania. This seems to be more of a remake with 32 bit upgrades. Simon looks girlish but still a great game! I highly recommend it if you want to go back to the non-metroidvania style of play.

  • Simon is looking too feminine! You gotta be kidding me!

  • W T F??????????? With 1 Life Bar O.O

  • Comment removed

  • 3:55 why would you kill the innocent maid?

  • @silvk1000

Perhaps they're not as innocent as you might think.

  • Cool this looks like the Castlevania Chronicles dracula x from the psp.

The new castlevania HOD on xbox 360 arcade is amazing.

  • Think ill pick this up

  • 3 peoples in the world r twilight vampires

  • i played many castlevania games and i luv those but this one makes me bored..

    whats with arrange and original..?

  • You call that a Dracula fight? He looks way too simple.

  • I was going to buy this on psn after beating Sotn but holy shit that looks like a painfully slow game.

  • @advocatefish despite simon walks a bit slow in this game, it is surely worth to be played/bought. the time this game was made, they had that conception of: "program absolutely everything to KILL the player". that's nostalgic :D

  • @joyfer600 yea just remade and remastered

  • Nice play through, and Ninja Maids. X-D

  • @Mr01110110 those are Persephone right....i faced it in other castlevania games and she's cool...

  • @wakoko173

Hmmm, I don't know. Good question.

  • the game music from that level is the same from Super Castlevania IV???

  • why do all CV chars have a weird way of walking?

  • Simon Belmont FTW!

  • Anyone notice Sakuya-esque Meido? ....Touhou

  • shit compared to SOTN

  • @stevelatinner dont even compare the holyness of the old castlevania style with that shit SOTN A.K.A "metroidvania"

  • @CloudStrifeZX actually, the older ones were called metroidvanias

  • You ´r wrong, Metroidvania is a nickname given to the series since SOTN (Symphony of the Night) because it was the same gameplay and style, from there all games except Castlevania 64 and Legacy of darkness have been named like that

  • @CloudStrifeZX To better sum that up, if it's 2D and comes after SotN, it's a Metroidvania.

  • @AegisOrnus um, no.

  • @psycholink44 I'm sorry, no? Shall we go down the list? Circle of Moon, Harmony of Dissonance, Aria of Sorrow, Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, Order of Ecclesia, all 2D, came out after the first "Metroidvania", Symphony of the Night, and are all "Metroidvania"s. Since SotN, 2D Castlevania games have always followed the Metroidvania formula. Go get your feedings somewhere else troll. Otherwise, post stuff that actually supports your argument.

  • @AegisOrnus is this anything like SOTN? hell, its not even in the same time region. and what about the adventure rebirth? it is a wii-ware game, but its still not like SOTN...

  • @psycholink44 You do know they're remakes of the older games, right? As in, they're based on games that came before SotN. Castlevania Chronicles, Dracula X Chronicles, The Adventure Rebirth, all remakes of the older games. I don't count them because they're not legitimately new entries into the series, which I think is fair enough. There is Legends but that came out in the same year as SotN so I'd be hesitant about including it as "after SotN". But if you want to count the remakes, I can dig it.

  • @LordDolor1989 no it started with sotn

  • @xXxSeTTriPxXx whatever,i must leave,excuse me

  • this game was good ..but it could have been so much better if the controls were like that of super castlevania IV ...or richter belmonts controls in the opening scene from symphony of the night

  • Epic music, it's Simon's theme, isn't it ??

    also, nosferatu ninja maids

  • dracula ghost looks very funny LOL

  • its is Nindento :P CD Drive are made by Sony

  • This game is not easy... but I definitely found the Dracula battle much easier than the original Castlevania. Of course I think much of that has to do with the controls.

  • you are retarded.

  • I have two complainants:

    1. Why does Simon walks so strange?

    2. WTF happend to Draculas laughter?

The music on the other hand, sounds good and the graphics look promising for a sidescrooler

  • 1- he doesnt walk ...he does the belmont´s pimp stride

    2 - dont know

  • Simon needs a new hack and slash game like Curse of Darkness

  • God, why did they make this crappy remake? 4 was already the perfect remake

  • total and complete awesomeness

  • Simon looks and walks retarded in this game.

  • He looks ok in the original X68000 version.

  • damn i hated those ninja maids

  • what systemis this for? this is tight as hell.

  • says in the title,ps1

  • which castlevania is this a remake of?

  • It's a remake of the first Castlevania ever on the NES. This is the second remake to that one being that they made super Castlevania IV which was also a remake to the first. After this game you're gonna have to go back to NES and play Simons quest, which is the second game that continues Simon's story.

  • Looks to me that this is quite faithful to super castlevania 4. I loved that game and every CV game since just doesnt feel right to me. I like dracula x chronicals on psp tho. Does this game feature the 8 directional whip?

  • I would play this game and love it if the character didn't move so slow. Sorry, just bugs me that much.

  • I really need to get this out and maybe actually finish it. Excellent music.

  • Is this basicall y the same as 'Dracula X' on SNes?

  • Dracula's just like: "What's your favorite beer?"

    Simon: "Heineken"

Dracula: "Heineken, FUCK THAT SHIT, PABST BLUE RIBBON!!!"

  • @JBHutto

And God sit's on his throne looking with some mishay to the bad taste of the world as he pops a Hertog Jan!

  • the music.........is SOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOOOD

  • so umm were u got this game i wanna put in my psp lol were go found the link

  • Hey chinoxdark. You can get this off the US PSN store for psp and ps3. not sure if you have either but just letting you know.

  • how much?

  • Castlevania Chronicals is $5.99. Castlevania Symphony ot the Night is $9.99. I Live in the UK and our store has not got them yet. I made a US account but it wont accept my card details because my address is not in the US. FAIL!!!!!!! I hope Ive helped you out.

  • I hate the arrange look for simon "he" looks way too...pretty.

  • 4:11 wow, ninja maids.

  • that is so hot lol

  • does anybody know the characters name?

  • it says so in my name, exept for the 281 part.

  • oh cool

  • I really love the theme that play for most of the level there. I remember it made me wish I could charge triumphantly across the screen, rather than traverse it with a vigorous plod.

  • if u suck thats not the games fault

  • It's not that I have much trouble getting through the game, it's just that the song is so uplifting and dramatic that it makes me want to do something energetic, which I can't because the protagonist is a slovenly unmanoeuvrable one.

Which I guess is what he gets for wearing such a tight mini-skirt.

  • it makes the game more challenging if u move that slow. and the levels arent that big so if he went faster the game would be over to quick.

  • nice

  • Awesome work indeed. Love thy Cross in any Castlevania. 5/5

  • Awesome skill there mate. 5 stars.

  • Is that Super Castlevania IV? The music says it all :D

  • Castlevania Chronicles for the PlayStation. It's a remake of the original Castlevania for NES.

  • Actually, it's not a remake, but rather a port. Of the MSX-6800 version, which was already far superior to the "first" Castlevania for the NES.

  • Not MSX, the Sharp X68000.

  • rofl

  • I really wish I could rate your comments up, but alas, I am forbidden.

  • Nice vid ^^,,

  • impressive you beat dracula with one bar

  • umm u beat it with 1 bar. WOW

  • hes so sexii with red hair ;D

  • nope it's just Final Level of it xD

  • beautiful, best run i have seen

  • shi that's a good one man!!!!!! :)

  • La saga de Castlevania es la mejor del mundo.

  • n00b

  • That was impressive

  • Brave, brave Simon!

  • u are a castlevania god

  • the game is with levels or what?

  • yes levels

  • the final stage all i did i jus walk though it it was hard

  • I don't know why people think the music from the Arrange version sucks.

    I think it's fucking amazing....

  • I agree, especially the music for this final stage

  • Yep, that song (Simon Belmont's theme), Vampire Killer, Wiched Child, Bloody Tears, Thrashard in the Caverns and Etude to the Killer...... Amazing remixes, courtesy of the Arrange Mode.

And I'am automatically going to buy The Dracula X Chronicles OST because I know it'll kick ass just like the Castlevania Chronicles OST.

  • agreed

  • : )

  • This guy makes the jumps look so easy. If he took one more step, he would've fallen off every platform. These old Castlevania games and remakes were so insanely difficult =\

    Bravo to you.

  • thats amazing you didnt get hit once while fighting dracula. Good game :P

  • are you mad or something, first Castlevania's we're like that Remake, it's Remake of First Castlevania, from Castlevania to Dracula X(or Super Castlevania 4 i don't know what CV were the Stage Version) we're only like this, Level Upping Castlevanias we're from SotN to Know(except new Dracula X Chronicles)

  • lol castlevania noob = mestrecabclo

  • LOL!!! I have played almost evry castlevania game to the end, so don't call me like that because you don't even know how to play the most castlevania games.

  • Maravillosa jugada, pero hubiera sido mejor si hubieras publicado el final tambien.

  • Nice gameplay but you should had including the ending also

  • Hermoso Hermoso Hermoso

  • coolie i like it
