The problem is that tea candle wicks are really narrow, which is why the flame isn't very big - which is of course why regular tea candles don't work for putt putts.
So for the intended purpose it would kind of defeat the purpose.
If you just want an oil candle though, that would work.
save the wax it has endless uses

why not take the wick out of the bottom of the tea candle?
