  • wheres the talk box br?

  • HAHAHSHAHAHAHAHAHAH DUDE, OMFG U LOOK LIKE A CHEAP COPY OF ELVIS

  • Good job Vinni. One of my favourite soloes too. Frampton underrated as a guitar player. Bluesy, melodic. Was going to see him play Frampton Comes Alive complete in Regina, Sask, in September, but he cancelled show two days beforehand for undisclosed reasons. Was so stoked, then so bummed. But hey - money refunded, and now I'll always have my Frampton Comes Alive concert tickets to look at!

  • Hey, Elvis is in the building! Thanks for the short lesson.

  • You are a great player, but really need to work on your understanding of theory. Don't make statements like "whole tone scale" to explain your black box. That is NOT what is going on here. The whole song is about D Maj tone v. D min. tone. That is why you see D Dorian, D min Pentatonic with Blues Note, and even some D Major. Even the chords demonstrate that with D maj to F with the F# then F. Yeah, Frampton was really good at writing too! Maybe he didn't even know what he did, LOL.

  • As far as the Key of this song, it is a mixture of D Dorian (C Major) and D minor pentatonic blues.

  • Nice Job but... Can you please teach me the intro to this song and with tabs?

  • pls, for the love of god. tell us what key it's in, so we don't have to figure it out. thanks

  • Oh, Sorry. It's the key of D

    Vinni

  • @nancylanesmith seems he shifted from d up to E many times during the solos/ penatonic stuff.

  • ebony fingerboard helps get closer to his tone but you need an LP Custom through a great EL34 amp to get THE tone

  • So true!

    V

  • mayne you go hard in the paint

  • any tips on how to get the fat sound u get

  • PRS Guitar, Ernie Ball Strings and V-Picks Guitar Picks. That is how I do it.

  • Just curious... what effects r u using on this??

  • I am only using the delay setting built into the Roland Cube amp.

  • Gay haircut nice playing!

  • Nice work. How are you getting that excellent Frampton tone?

  • Thanks! Just using a bit of distortion and some echo. Also some muting with my right hand.

  • Agree, one of the all time great rock solos. Love love love it, and I have benefitted from your lessons on the solo. Many thanks! Jonny O

  • the most epic solo ever

  • Awesome job!! I love the picking!

  • nice little elvis dude!

  • Nice job playing it, but the how to can be greatly improved upon. trying to follow is extremely difficult, and hard to see what is going on. You are showing your talent but not showing us what you are doing. Thanks for trying, but how about teaching it.

  • My favorite solo as well Vinni...............you seem to have nailed it!

What is the chance of getting this tabbed out? you play it a bit fast for me to follow all the pieces.

again great job Peter would be proud.

  • Sorry, I don't do tab

  • is that ur real hair

  • LOL. That's great!

    Yep- That's my real hair.

  • Should've gone to Specsavers!

  • LOL. That's great!

  • @nancylanesmith This is one of my favourite Frampton songs...I've always been a fan since I first saw him with Humble Pie and then with Frampton's Camel. Now I've got tickets to see him again early next year and can't wait. PF seems such a nice guy too!

  • Chops !!!!

  • Thanks

  • Nice, Vinny. You nailed it!

  • Thanks Bro

  • Holy Cow! Awesome!!!

  • Thank you Bro.

  • Vinni...left you a message but figured I should try this way to communicate. I play now like Greg Howe meets Ty Tabor meets Brad Paisley meets Albert King...Different right? Anyway, what pick would you recommend I buy? I currently use medium Dunlops and feel I'm missing something.

  • Medium Rounded 2.75mm and the Medium Pointed 2.75mm should work for you well.

  • What V-Pick should I try first? Please answer!!!!

  • The medium rounded and the tradition Ultra lite

  • Teh side burns are hawt.

  • WOW DUDE GREAT SIDE BURNS. I SEE THEIR VERY COOL BUT ONE THING. THEY'RE FAKE

  • They are? LOL

  • Nice playing, and i love your picks, Only picks that wont slip out of my hands when playing live

  • @Guitarman777

    Thanks Bro....

    V

  • hey elvis... didnt know you could play like that.... P.S.-- Everyone thinks youre dead!!

  • WOW....great rendition.....sooo fine !

  • @Buckhead1959

    Thanks for listening...

    Vinni

  • I have to agree with you on this one, this solo is by far one of my favorites, and I like it more than the ending solo.

I'm having a little difficulty figuring out exactly what you're doing at 1:56, goes a little to fast to hear all the notes for me, otherwise this helped me quite a bit, and you've done a great job! Thanks.

Btw, anyone know of any good software to slow down tracks/videos?

  • Hey Vinnie:

You look like you might drive a truck....or sell trucks for that matter....but you play REAL GOOD. Great touch and a truly gifted player. Thanks for the lessons!!

  • like your ovation and killer job

  • Thanks Bro.....

  • Great job. Peter Frampton is so underrated. He is one bluesy, fluid, emotive and inspired guitarists. I believe the Rolling Stones wanted him to replace Mick Taylor at one point.

  • That's right.

He grew up down the street from Wyman.

  • @tikidevil do you mean mick jagger?

  • love it, good job, and thank you!

  • also one of my favorite rock and roll solos and u nailed it.

  • wow!!! That is frikken tasty!!!!!! You have got that Frampton feel!!! I have been playing this song onstage for ever and never nailed that lick the way u do!!

  • Thanks Bro.....

    Vinni

  • sweet green meanie

  • are you kidding? buckethead lacks any emotion whatsoever. its sweeps, killswitches, and tremolo picking. over and over and over again. yes, he's faster. but speed is extremely overrated.

  • actually when bucket head slows it down, hes actually really good, listen to wishing well

  • great job man

    im speechless

and buckethead sucks compared to framptons flow

  • you're comparing two completely different genres there man,

  • alright true,

i am comparing two completely different genres, but im just making an opinion, i like the feel of blues, not a bunch of distorted noise shredding, and im not the only one comparing there...man

  • Vinny, you're awesome, man. Completely friggin awesome. Great video. I love it! =)

  • Nice - thanks for posting this. It's my all-time favorite solo too. I don't play but I love to listen and having you slow it down makes me appreciate it even more. I'd like to hear you play it with a recording of the bass line in the background

  • nice work like the sound, do you know what effects peter used in the solo, sounds like a phase shifter and or super shifter. later.

  • He used some echo and a Leslie. A great big full size organ Leslie....

  • Sweetness....U rock

  • dude! is that a PRS?

  • Yes, it is a '92 custom 24 PRS

  • Thanks Vinni, you help me on this song man!!

  • Looks like Elvis and plays guitar like Frampton.... Hmmm... can you say 'Super Human! '

  • My fav is Frampton on Humble Pie

    STONE COLD FEVER.

    Some of the same licks-

Time for me to practice :)

  • It's Elvis!!!

  • CANT BE PLAYED BETTER THAN THAT

  • Cept by Frampton himself

  • Vinni, great chops, my man! Kudos!!!

  • You truely are an amazing guitarist best of luck to you in alll you do

  • Nice playing Vinnie!! But.... uhmmm.... Did Elvis and Elton John have a Baby????Lol..

  • lol

  • ; ^ )

  • nice PRS you got there

  • anybody's got the tab for this, thanks

  • great job awsome track sends shivers down my spine every time i hear it.

  • oh yeah and i almost forgot to say nice playing, very good

  • best guitar solo is silent night bodom night and the solo in "the world" by nightmare is in no way the best but better than most, including this

  • Sorry best guitar solo ever is Pink Floyd Comfortably Numb.

  • I would have to say the end solo of Do You feel is one of the best solos ever. What this guy is playing is simply the first of 3 in the song.

  • I was going strait into a Kustom 30 watt amp. That's it. no pedals.

It does have a Scumback speaker in it and the WCR Pickups on the guitar help a lot too.

    Thanks for the kind comments!

  • Vinni, What amp and pedal are you using to get Petes solo tone? Sounds great! Thanks for playing.....

  • EXCELLENT!!!

I finally found someone else who is/was as amazed as I have been over the years with THAT particular solo!!!

Vinni, I agree with you 100%, man. Pete crafted a gem with that first solo in DYFLWD.

So melodic, haunting, fluid, jazzy, bluesy.... Really, what elements were NOT in that solo?

Nice job playing it too. You've got it down cold.

  • Comment removed

  • absolutely amazing! is there a place where i can get the tab for how you just played the solo? i love exactly how you did it and would love to learn it that way.

  • Damn, you just blew me away, man! My big sister has been dragging me to Frampton shows for 30 freakin' years, and the guy is an amazing player. It's great to see someone showing him some love on here. You did this solo some serious justice, too, Vinni. Bravo!

  • You are right. That is a good solo.

  • unreal solo !!!! and you got it down my friend

  • He is indeed very musical. I really like his solo on "I Wanna Go To The Sun" as well.

  • have you got the tabs for this magnificent solo?

  • Have been playin for 30years and also agree about the beauty of this solo. Peter is a master at creating solos that are extremely MUSICAL (not like some boring shredder).

Too bad peter does not do instruction video's.

he definitely don't need the money, but still...

  • i absolutely agree with you about the beauty of this solo, (and the whole song) one of the greatest pieces of rock music ever composed, performed etc...beauty p.r.s. also by the way

  • I share your love of this solo my friend. Its my fav as well. But as much as i like playing this part i LOOVE playing the end solo even more where he just explodes with the advancing slide chords. That portion just TOTALLY kicks ass.

Nice job though. I learned some stuff.

  • Nice...I'm a percussianist but the rest of the guys in the family are guitar players. My brother has been playing for 30 years and he finally agreed to go to a Frampton show with me. He was in shock at how good Pete was.
