  • This song is the reason I married a woman from South Of The Border.....

  • A Top 5 hit for Jay and The Americans in the fall of 1964.

  • It's funny, I listen to this song when I was younger everyday, now I see someone named Jose, that's life for ya. still love the song..................

  • im 20 years old and this is my favorite song ever haha

  • Listen to that static in the beginning, love it!

  • I thought the line was "She belonged to bad man, Jose"

  • One of my favorite all time songs. I was very lucky to have spent my years from 9-19 living on a lake. I got to hear every great song from 1959 till 1968 from the great beach across the lake. All the great old beach resorts seem to be gone and music has taken a turn for the worse also. I thank everyone that posts this great music on Youtube. Thank you, Thank you.

  • @ZSOSER69- you're very welcome!

  • im 20 years old and i gotta say the music in the 60s was SOO much better than the crap today

  • @lomeloft" I totally agree! Love it!

  • @FromRussiaWithLove007 .......Hey Red , if you don't understand what she is saying !!!

    ...It's you who need lesson's .

    ...English and sex education .

  • I loved this song when I was a little girl!!!!!

  • i thought it was marty robbins

  • he sounds a lot like roy orbison.

  • That woman needs English lessons.

  • It took me 40 some years to have that song suddenly come to mind. I am so glad I found it. Brings me back to when I was young and my grandmother would play the radio rock and roll channel in El Paso, Texas, Does anyone remember Steve Crosno?

  • south of the border,, better have protection,,

  • Great Tunes! I just remember hearing this on the "Wonder Years". This and more. Always makes me smile!

  • This is not Jack Black, surely!

  • love this song...shit

  • Not tryin to be a typical guy here.... but look at 1:22 to 1:30.. that girl has an ASS WOWW.. also, love this song. always have, brings back wonderful memories.

  • luv it yeah yeah yeah

  • a silly, millimeter longer, 101

  • It's funny how los lobos ripped off this song (La Bamba)

  • Great song--I don' know if anybody noticed, but the tune is reminiscent of another one of my all-time favorites, the old folk song "La Bamba" (the best -known version,of course, recorded by Richie Valens)

  • @elektrykalbanana I definitely see where you're coming from. This song was stuck in my head all day and I actually thought it was La Bamba! To be honest, I really like the mix that was playing in my head...

  • bit of a rip-off of La Bamba

  • Reminds me of my heydey in highschool!..what a great time, what great music!

    CAE

  • Jay Black would kick Jose's ASS....

  • @jadegizmo

Esto no es hablar de combate mano a mano ... pero tiroteos.

  • i hadn't heard this song in years. kinda forgot about it. but then, the funniest thing happened to me; i put a handful of chocolate-covered raisins in my mouth, and this song started playing in my head. LOUD.

    lmaowtf...

  • funniest thing i saw this perfomed with a puppet and a squeaky voice for the girl. hilarious.

  • Fab - makes you want to Cha Cha Cha!

  • Heard this song first when I was 13. It still catches me.

  • catchy lyrics a?

  • SHHHHOTTSSS

  • Screw bad man Jose! Must be a wife-beater.

  • Always fun to hear!

  • what, they're not singing 'she belonged to batman all day' ?! :O

  • Come a Little Bit Closer...

  • Been looking for this song for awhile! Thanks for uploading it! This is one of my favorite songs and my dad raised me on these songs and they are a lot better than the music today.

  • @Gamers772 - you are very welcome! Ron

  • Jay is still belting it out on Public Television. He still brings it! Hope I live so long, much less be a great singer.

  • @Gamers772 me too, where i used to work at we had a jukebox full of old music and this became one of my favorites!

  • I was really only a toddler when this was a hit, but comeon it's just

so good, when there were real "hit" records, and you had to be excellent to be the lead singer of just about every group that got a lot of radio airplay. There were exceptions, but not many.

  • Jay Black no longer sings with the band and has been replaced with J Reinke from Chicago. Reinke is the former lead singer of the Chicago band The Meteors and has a great voice and can sing all the Jay Black parts perfectly.

  • @airshotsphotoco I have heard the new guy and he has a very good voice... but.. The original guy has one of the great voices of all time!!!

  • ....its odd, I'm 23 and I'm into the oldies. :/

I've always loved this song, it always makes me laugh!

  • @masanobuandolover

    You do yourself a disservice.

It's not odd, it's just that you know quality and class when you see and hear it.

Too many so called 'critics' do not.

  • @masanobuandolover... to add to what twinstu50 said... Being "into" something that has musical structure and is performed by people that actually have talent is anything but odd.

  • Great music never goes out of style, it just get less airtime. Jay and the Americans were a real class act in their day. Jay Black had a gift that is still holding up ok. In his prime he could realy belt out the songs. I am 46 and started listening to them in the late 80's. What a great band, one of the best in my opinion. thanks for posting!

  • @U81NOTME-you are very welcome! Ron

  • yay and es americanos

  • one of my favorite songs and I'm 24.

  • @bad74maverick- you have great taste in music! Ron

  • @rwells47 thank you i was raised on this kind of music, by my dad. My favorite band is the beach boys and my favorite songs are this one, drift away by dobie gray, I get around by the Beach boys, Everybody plays the fool by marvin gay, and long cool woman by the hollies.

  • @bad74maverick- thanks for stopping by! Ron

  • Johnny Duncan and Janie Frickie did an awesome remake of this song.

  • One of the best from the 60's. I racked my brain to remember the song title.

  • todays lesson.......dont flirt wit lil mexican gurls..theres ALWAYS a JOSE nearby...ole!

  • We can all laugh at what great lovers we think we are..!!!!!!This could be any bar.

  • don't know why, but i was really in the mood to hear this song. good times!

  • Love this song.

  • Definately the greatest song ever done by Jay and The Americans.

  • @mungojerry311

It is a good one. Cara Mia was also a great hit!

  • Oldies. Love them! .. COME A LITTLE BIT CLOSER, YOU'RE MY KIND OF MAN. SO BIG AND SO STRONG....

  • @fals3ad - the one guy who disliked this was none other than...Bad Man Jose!

  • @fals3ad Why thank you very much....
