  • Take me to the Club that plays these tunes...

  • chitalian22, you're right. I was there and I did live it. And you are missing the point. At that time, house music was not a defined genre. Anything that the dj's mixed was deemed house music. Ran Jam's Black Betty wasn't house music it was southern rock, but when it was seamlessly mixed into the the wonderful stew that is house music than it became so. The same could be said for New Order etc...

  • Real house started in N.Y underground , chicago dj's like myself we made it main stream in the 80's...EXAMPLE : let no man put us under;;; old old ny tune.....

  • @RDG23HVY it didn't really explode until the UK rave scene exploded in 87 though did it...

  • @RDG23HVY it's called "let no man put asunder," it's a quotation from the Bible.

  • @Badboriboy: The best house comes from Europe. The real birthplace of housemusic. Try Kraftwerk . They startet 10 years before there American counterparts.

  • @marijnc Kraftwerk isn't house. It's electronic / electropop. Though early house was really just underground disco tracks.

  • @marijnc House music was/is a LOT more popular in Europe than in the US. I think there's just more house in Europe. The best old stuff comes from NY and Chicago, though.

  • @marijnc Kraftwerk wasn't house music. They were just considered electronic.

  • @chitalian22. I am from Chicago and grew up on house music. Kraftwerk, Giorgio Miroder, Millie Jackson, Diana Ross, Yellow, Lawanda Paige,(that's right, aunt ester from Sanford and Son), Dr Buzzards Original Savannah Band, New Order and everything in between. We did not discriminate, as long as it blended and was good to dance to, we called it House.

  • @natgirrl lol I don't think it has anything to do with discriminating against Kraftwerk. They're electronic, not house. And btw just because you lived it and called it house doesn't mean you're right. If you study music you would know that Kraftwerk is not house. Kinda like how American's say soccer but the rest of the world says Futbol, Kind of.(Key phrase)

  • ♥when I'm with you, I believe, that your love is true...

when we love, you turn me out, you know what to do...

visions really blow my mind, fantasizing all the time...♫

♥when your body's next to me, I begin to sway...

when we touch I lose control, now you know what's next...

fantasizing all the time, move your body next to mine...♫

  • @sunnyxol gotta love how he rhymes "sway" with "next"

  • è straordinario questo brano!!!

  • i love this track!!!!!!

  • emotional .... classic .... incredible.

  • This track i feel in love with 20 years ago,and the reason why i promoted clubs for 12 years,an all time CLASSIC.

    Listen,Love and ENjoy!!!!

  • LEGEND

  • @TheAdvancepro

try europe for the birth of house!

But i will not argue that some of the best house def comes out of Chicago and ohhhhh do i love my Detriot acid from the very early 90s

  • @ryanmoulds : The best house comes from NY. Everyone knows that. Chez Damier is amazing, but I wouldn't compare him to Mike Delgado, Kenny Dope, Victor Simonelli, Vega, & the god of all house gods (TODD TERRY). Not to mention, India is by far the best house vocalist. To say Detroit has an edge over NY is pretty closed minded IMO.

  • Who IS Jamie Principle?

  • @johnnycheck99 : The creator of a genre of music known as HOUSE.

  • @BadBoriBoy

not true.... there were plenty before, but no doubt he is one of the more well known.

  • @johnnycheck99 you MUST be like 20years old or younger, maybe @ the most 25 with NO older siblings if you dont know who Jamie Principle is! He is by far the GREATEST house artist alive! LEGEND! It has to be a crime not to know who he is! What has happened to music is a shame when legends are not known. Not a knock on you but its what society has come to.

  • @mimric It is a shame what's happened!

  • I love this song<3 Great electronic music!

  • You ve got the love candi staton

  • Been an interesting thing to revisit the memories that this music brings. My house was mere blocks from Mendel HS where this stuff was available on a weekly basis and truly appreciate the front row seat for a whole new genre of music. I was pretty shy in these days and didn't have a whole lot of experience on the dance floor but this music MADE you move. All I can say is thanks.

  • i like both frankie knuckles and jamie principle versions, both are AWESOME

  • My Girls.

  • in a barn somewhere in suffolk circa 1989 - when i heard this first :)

  • man..this tune is worlds apart.so deep.your love.beautiful.my first time hearing this version.amazing.and im old skool.i knew jamie was the vocalist but never knew this was the original lick.

  • This Version was not the Original but a remix done by Persona Records.

Mark "Hot Rod" Trollan was commission by Persona Records 2 do the remix.

The Original Version was the 1 produced by Frankie Knuckles.

  • @lilgirlpro .....WRONG !!!

  • All Instruments were performed by Jamie Principle.

  • Comment removed

  • I never understead one thing, the instrumental part of this 1986 version was performed by Frankie Knuckles?!? although he is not credited ?!?

  • @LucoLuchi ..no Frankie done a remix and took all the credit ... Jamies tune !!

  • @OldSkoolGazza thanks for info as i said i like both tunes, i give both of them acknowledgment, i think the tune causes so much anger, and disagreement in music circles, but i like both versions

  • Jamie seems so humble in interviews. Does he realize how his music transfixed a whole generation of people? The music on this track is ridiculous, even without his wonderful voice, the track itself stands on its own.

  • @Kiri527 - I couldn`t agree more :)

  • AWESOME

  • do you remember the first time you heard this track? it's happening to me, right now :)

  • yeay great tune so much feeling.......

  • @zvnteq7 if you listen to the melody it is disco house from chicago

  • Does anybody know if there is a recent remixed version of this track? I listened to it on Sat. nite in a club, and it was simply beautiful!!

  • @madfede Green Velvet Presents Jamie Principle - The Choice

  • Thank you for uploading this onto Youtube

  • i luv playing this LOUD and dancing around the loungeroom

  • beautiful, very beautiful melody, 5 stars, 1980's chicago disco house

  • beautiful! absolutely awesome 1980's chicago disco house, truly amazing melody, 5 stars

  • Probally going to get flamed for this but for me this is far more 'house' than 'On & On' ever was, I really do think, this is almost certainly the very first ever 'house' record.

  • It all seemed so innocent back then...because it freakin' well was lol

  • floats like a dream

  • Full respect to the early days, great song, poetry n house in motion!!

  • I CAN'T GET ENOUGH!!!!!!

  • wow...seriously didnt know these facts..nice one

  • This is the original! Yes! Thank you for uploading. I've been looking for ages! All I need now is for you to tell me how the hell I can get this song! Itunes sucks for not having this version. Amazon claims to have this version, it even says Jamie Principal, but it is definitely NOT this version of the song. :(

  • I just realised I spelled Principle's last name wrong, but you feel me.

  • I just realized I spelled Principle's last name wrong, but you feel me.

  • I got turned on to this tune via Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. It touched a nerve to say the least. Little did I know that I was listening to one of the cornerstones of house music.

  • All I can say is....WOWWW!!!!! This brings back soooo many memories! If you're not from Chicago, you couldn't...and wouldn't understand at all! Growing up in the Chi was the best..ever! From the parties,to the pizzas,to the Dipped italian beefs, the beaches.,the house parties..the ladies...and the snowed in nights! Chicago represent..no doubt!!!!

  • the bomb! i love love love it!!!!

  • CHICAGO ALL ITS DIVERSE NEIGHBORHOODS BLACKS ON ONE SIDE WHITES ON THE OTHER SIDE GAYS ON THE NORTH SIDE. ITALIAN MOB IRISH MOB BLACK PANTHER BLACK STONES EL RUKIN BLACK GANGSTA DISCIPLE .CHINA TOWN. WE STILL CREATE THE MUSIC THAT RULES THE WORLD

  • aww man what a tune . Thanks for the uplaod and Jamie lots of love from kansas. A million stars to one hell of a house musician.

  • The Original

  • i remember when Jamie performed this at "Sauers" back in 86... I rode my motorcycle all the way from Ft. Campbell Kentucky to see his concert and of course get a polish and some Harolds....... I am an original househead

  • Quality tune, PLEASE GOD TKE US AL BACK TO THE 80s, good times, good vibes, no guns, no knives, no madness, apart from the madnesson the dance floor!!!!

  • @amylondongirl the 80s music historically is best music and still is, that is why all the tunes from 80s are gold dust, in a goldmine. The 80s produced so many original, unique tunes and thus creation of early genres of music

  • @amylondongirl

You can say that again. This was pure dance music with no violence and obscenities. I still can identify with such smooth and quality music. This was during my high school days and house was the deal. One love...by the way I am from Zimbabwe.

  • @samnjambi fellow zimbo what it do brah

  • @amylondongirl Take me with u..The most enjoyable and fulfilling years of my life. Friends, parties, vibrations, energy, peace

  • bought the first ever copy ever made £420

  • wow, did this guy release anything that isn't a classic??

  • Always preferred this version to Frankie's. It has a rawer sound. Frankie's is more polished.

  • this is the original i got the love candi staton did the newer version AND A LOT OF PEOPLE OUT THERE DIDNT KNOW THAT i love both frankie knuckles candi staton jamie principle BIG RESPECT TO ALL

  • is this the version that was only available on reel to reel at first, or is there yet another version that was never released? because I heard that the version that was originally played in the clubs was never released and was only available on tape. and that too was better than the frankie knuckles version...

Tune is Face It by Master C & J

  • Thank You RJay!!! You are the man!

    Peace,

    Jen

  • it's been over 24 years when we were blessed by jamie with this song. there is nothing like it. that was a great time to be young. dance like no one is watching...

  • true house music .....old skool

  • this record came out in 1986 one of the first from Chicago to be tagged house music

  • there was a few other records that came out in 1985 quest - mind games , fingers inc - mystery's of love that can be considered house music

  • @167bnx Their were other records released in 84 that one could also could consider House.

  • its in the name 88-89 summer of love ..

hot summers great drugs great people ...once in a lifetime ..... oldskool beware ..

  • I don't know when this epic track was released but it changed everything. That mewling beat never fails to spineshiver me and countless others - the birth of house music sounds angelic. Peace!!!

  • First House record ever, unless you count On and On by Jesse Saunders. I love that this was produced on a portastudio.. So brilliant. You really can hear how heavily influenced the Chicago guys were by 80's UK New Romanticism.

  • @joseop Really i can give you a few from 84 not mentioned that could also be in the running.

  • It blows my mind - each time - such an awesome tune!

  • The original and the best. I would do ANYTHING to be back in the 80's

  • buffy,

i remeber when jamie principal used to party and perform at the power plant in chicago dj frankie knucles those were the days.

  • @felicia5337 The plant was the spot! Frankie on after 1, dancing 'til 5:30, coming out and seeing the sunrise...all the while knowing you're going to hear it when you roll back to the crib

  • OOh the memories! Such a fun time....

  • pure quality

  • SUPER !!!!

  • best house tune ever nuff said .

  • God, this piece was, is and stays the slammer.

  • absolute classic! i love this track, it's deep! and it give's me a special feeling also when you listen closeley tot the lyrics ;)

  • made me laugh that everybody totally believed candy staton and the source was the original so fuking weak m inded to chart garbage long live 88.3

  • lol... nice one. When that came out i instantly said "hmmm a bloke done this track waaaayy back" but couldn't remember who or when.

  • I still have mint condition double copies, both still shrinkwrapped. AWESOME JAM!

  • Fucking awesome from 1986. THE ORIGINAL HOUSE-killer

  • lool, sounds like Animal Collective sampled this.

  • lol i JUST made a comment on the my girls video saying this...

  • True dat.

  • the point is tomedian is that this isnt a cover...its the Original!...Jamie Principal gave it to Frankie Knuckles to gain airwaves or something along those lines...please do a little research into these things before sounding off

  • well said zafer!

  • @ZaferUltrAslan Thats not what Jamie told me back in '86. We ran into each other while we were working as messengers in downtown Chicago. He wasn't happy when I told him that I bought a copy from my neighborhood record store. He said that the master was stolen from him and Your Love was released without his permission, he and Frankie weren't on speaking terms at the time.

  • @29lowell This is the story as I've heard it goin' all the way back to '87

  • Comment removed

  • This isn't a cover, it's the original..! fuck, haha.

  • Yes you got me :( I was hoping no one would spot my comment as I relaised my faux pas shortly after, at the time I did not realise the heritage of the Frankie 'version'... sorry Jamie, am I forgiven..I promise to jack tonight.

  • Aw you're sweet, you're forgiven. My comment was a bit smug looking back.

  • No issues here, we are all here to learn from each other..House music all night long..

  • hehe sometimes words fail me......

  • ...but not on this occassion... :)

  • Epic...Breathtaking...just a couple of phrases that came to mind when i heard this...i remember when this was first played in the club...it blew everybodies mind...God Bless you Jamie Principle and not to forget Mr Frankie Knuckles

  • Jamie/Knucles the best! Candi... was ok....

  • amazing track, great upload and i think it's even better than the Frankie Knuckles version too. 12'' must be worth a few bob?

  • Cheers,its worth £30-40 now.

  • i bought it 4 £3 in the 2nd hand record shop in pristine condition. Absolute quality tune

  • @muzikjunkeez WOW GREAT STEAL!

  • @turloydstew

love this collection brings back so many memories

  • @muzikjunkeez Three Pounds!!?!!!! It should be worth more!!!!! But still it's a great song!!!

  • @muzikjunkeez u buyed it on vinyl for 3 pounds ?

  • Yes mate £3...i almost missed it as i had flicking thru so many records. I love 2nd hand record shops. so many classic that people just dont want anymore or they dont know the value of the track.

  • get a grip people, its all the same, frankie knuckles, jamie principle, Lys and GIGI Italian remix, they are all variations on a theme, something that has been done in reggae and dub for years, I think you will find that the all the versions need to credit Jamie and Frankie for the ispiration.

  • Can anybody help me here? The baseline and synth riff are almost exactly the same as The Source Ft Candi Staton version of You Got the Love. I guess that was taken from this was it?

  • Jamie Principle wrote the track, got it in frankie knuckles hands and he made it big. The source just used the bass line and parts. hope that helps.

  • no shit

  • Frankie Knuckles!

  • I have the exact same song form 1987 by Franky Knuckles on TRAX recording.

Baby wants to ride...on the other side.

    who is it then?

  • Baby wants to ride is jamie principal aswell.. I don't know why frankie stole them!

  • I heard part of this song in a concert of SOULWAX.Really awesome song.

  • im 35 my kid is 15 and he's just getting into the 90s techno-now he's diggin da crates and listning to my cuts. aaahh-the bass lives on., Great memories thank god for the internet-im finding all my old jams. this sound is incredible! crack for your ears.

  • Just Done today "where house came from" at college and this tune was on the video sick as i love that bass ... wooooooo

  • The sickest house track ever! Like a power ballard with the snare and the vocals and the strong house presence with the four on the floor beat and the bassline riff is just sickest! And last not least the arpeggio with the retro synth! EPIC!!!
