It makes me smile when I see videos featuring knives I own, I don't know why. I own both the Gerber Gator, I've had it for years, the first knife I've ever been given as a gift. I also have the SOG Pentagon. Both are pretty good, reliable knives. I've been opening and closing the Gator one handed for a long time, it's a lot easier with good maintenance, the rubberized handle makes the deploy difficult.

no, Vg-1 is a little too brittle to baton or split with, the lade is not long enough (look for a blade length of 6+ inches) and its just too small.

It would be fine for skinning and whittling

Actualy, Spyderco HAVE made fixed blades. They're just not as main stream as some of thier folders. Almost all of which have the Spyderco Opening Hole, yep, even on a fixed blade.

As far as shaking goes, it can't be helped sometimes if you're shipping a folder in a box. Sometimes the knife will shake a bit in the box, but the box itself doesn't move.

Also, brown paper + USPS flat rate box = you can ship using whoever you'd like.
