I didn't realize until later that Ms. Clark was a married lady with 3 children. This video is so very powerful. So very sexy. One can tell that she felt the music. Cheers.
What I think is so great about this video is that I think Ms. Clark was really in love with somebody when she performed this song. I could be wrong, That's ok too. She is so beautiful and talented. I feel blessed for YouTube for the music videos that I get to see. If it weren't for YT I wouldn't know about the wonderful female singers during the Sixties. Cheers!
@ItsMrPumpkinhead2U she was married to Claude Wolff, the man who made her famous in France and in Europe and introduced her to Tony Hatch, who she collaborated with in many of her greatest hits, including "Downtown" - They're still married!
@mykelinkc The title is "In Love." I'm not sure that there's a download available currently. Much of her vast catalog is still available only on vinyl or CD, and often out of print. You may need to hunt down the CD of the 1965 "Downtown" LP. The song also appears on the three-disc anthology "Songs of My Life: The Essential Petula Clark, released in 2005 on the Sanctuary label. Highly recommended.
I was but a wee lad when this came out. Her hit song 'Downtown' I remember hearing but nothing else. All I can say is thank you You-Tube, Thank you poster. I'm a new fan.
Wow. It's amazing how watching this beautiful and sexy woman sing this song how much more it appeals to me now. I never particularly cared much for the song on the Downtown album... until now. Thanks for positing.
Pet was born in England, and remembers the bombing in England during WWII. Yes from France, Petula is married to a Frenchman, and has recorded in French as well.
Very nice...Love it...
