If you were to look across all sciences, evolution would assume to fit. I think where I disagree is upon observing that even within Christianity there are EXTREMELY VARIED ways of interpreting and understanding Scripture; notions of God, Hell, Salvation, etc. Everyone thinks their understanding is the only correct one. Some Christians, for example, believe that Christ redeamed ALL of mankind on the Cross, and that even unbelievers would be forgiven. Some don't believe in a literal Hell.
Problems arise once people start regarding their own views as absolute truth.
VenomFangX, for example, is among the brand of Christian who is very keen on declaring which faith doctrines are correct, and makes default moral judgements against EVERYONE who deviates from them. This brand is also keen on declaring what Hell is, and who precisely is going to go there... namely, people of differing beliefs.

GC(2): I would regard as suspect any "ministry" that focuses its primary efforts on pointing out the alleged moral flaws of others. In the case of VFX, he condemns vast categories of his fellow human beings, without knowing their conduct, without knowing them at all, making default judgments simply on the threshold question of whether or not they share his particular faith doctrines.
Christian judgment should be fair and not petty; not a selfish mode of tearing down people you don't like.

I do have a problem with anyone who summarily declares that all people who do not subscribe to their particular faith doctrines are necessarily evil or inferior by default. Who exactly do YOU think this verse is addressing? I've heard others try to say that it doesn't apply to Christians at all, but that only non-Christians aren't allowed to judge. I think it's for outspoken people who go around loudly condemning everyone who thinks differently than themselves, based on bigoted assumptions and false correlations. I got news for you; EVERYONE, no matter how much of a crapbag they are, thinks their opinions and values are right.

I think where I disagree is upon observing that even within Christianity there are EXTREMELY VARIED ways of interpreting and understanding Scripture; notions of God, Hell, Salvation, etc. Everyone thinks their understanding is the only correct one. Some Christians, for example, believe that Christ redeamed ALL of mankind on the Cross, and that even unbelievers would be forgiven. Some don't believe in a literal Hell.
Problems arise once people start regarding their own views as absolute truth.

VenomFangX, for example, is among the brand of Christian who is very keen on declaring which faith doctrines are correct, and makes default moral judgements against EVERYONE who deviates from them. This brand is also keen on declaring what Hell is, and who precisely is going to go there... namely, people of differing beliefs.
I don't equate faith with absolute certainty, and because the core assumptions could be wrong, I believe it IS hypocritical to condemn others on such a basis.

Why does The Bible state that God hates gays? That's one that I always thought was rude and unfair. And I truly believe gays are born gay.

I think it is most likely that, even if the Bible was inspired by God, because it was written and assembled by men, it should be subject to the same scrutiny as any other of mankinds achievements, regardless of their sincerity.
Many people interpret their own personal moral compasses as "the Word of God written on our hearts." If one feels strongly that something is immoral, one tends to conclude that God feels the same way. Is it possible the founders of Judao-Christianity did this as well?

Neo, That is true. But, God wasn't easy on heterosexual persons, either. "Fornication" and "Adulterers"------boyfriend/girlfriend sex and cheating on spouses. Perhaps, God was strict in having the Bible written because he is so holy and he wanted everyone to recognize their faults? Indicating that, we in fact, DO need Him.
How old do you think the Holy Scriptures that the Bible is from? You don't find it fascinating concerning pre-life and after-death?

As for using Scripture to make a point, it IS one of the cultural foundations for Western civilization.
It is generally agreed, for example, that the Illiad and Odyssey are not literally, word-for-word true (even if the events are grounded in certain historical events that probably ARE true; i.e., war at Troy), so if we don't believe that Hermes lept oceans in a single bound or that giant cyclopses capture people on desert isles, must we cast away the works of Homer as worthless?

This was not actually VenomFangX's video, but rather a compilation of clips demonstrating how he uses his religion to insult and villify people who disagree with him. The intention is to show how some people exploit God, transforming Him into a vehicle for their own pettiness and intolerance.

That is what needs to be done in this evil, wicked world we are living in presently. I do agree with his videos. I don't always act as bluntly when I'm talking, I try to speak from my heart in hopes that whom I'm speaking to will see the love of God inside me, and therefore maybe they would choose to believe.
