  • what kind of fuking idiot disliked joy division? hey subspecies, go kill yourself.

  • I just want to dance like a spaz right now...........I`m spazzing right now.

  • Damn due this is one super-rare JD vid that will live on in infamy...rock, fucking BALLS!!!

  • -CaptinCrawky It's interesting how a very sensitive and solitude-loving person like Ian seeks for a comfort by having a little word with a total stranger. Not too many people would get approached by a great but shy genius like him.

  • Favorite Joy division song - really brings you inside Curtis head in some moments, DAY IN DAY DAY IN DAY OUT DAY IN OUT DAY IN OUT, DAY IN DAY OUT NOWWWW

  • for the five people who disliked, peter hook will come off the stage and punch u in the face!

  • awsome

  • felling close in air

  • My favorito joy division tuno. Never got new order though.

  • 5 miserable idiots. this song is so great

  • Fantastic video, more sought after than anything else. Anything from them seems such history, History that shall never be forgotten, or fade away. RIP Ian.

  • the best of the best

  • Este registro es arte en si mismo

  • the anniversary of his death is tomorrow. it'll be 30 years since he killed himself. RIP Ian

  • @telitubie70 31 yrs

  • Hey look I have a new favorite song

  • anyone know where about this was performed?

  • @03wychaidar I think this was in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

  • Please someone tell me if there is another band with the influence JD had forwards in only 4 years. Ah, it's ok, there's no other band.

  • Day In Day out was also XTC!

  • i love this colors.

  • the bass guitarist nails it on this

  • you twat!!! why did you have to commit suicide..without doubt the best group from manchester..rip..ian cutis..rip tony wilson..rip rob gretton.. very important all of the to the manchester music scene..rock on joy division fans you have very good taste in music..

  • @bookai69 Don't forget Martin Hannett

  • best stage dance ever.....LOng live Ian, Long live JOY DIVISION!!

  • How i love these live recordings of Joy Division! And of course i love Ian,our sweet immortal soul:)

  • why can't i go back in time to see this live!

  • fuk yea this was music bak in the day lol

  • Growing up in the late 90's/early 2000's in the Bronx, NY, and primarily listening to Hip-Hop throughout my entire youth, I had never heard of a band called Joy Division.

It wasn't until recently, by chance, (staying up late and watching a movie entitled "Control') that I had discovered the band, and was completely blown away!

Thanks to that film my life has been changed forever ;)

  • @scarface82us Mate, That film was shite, I saw Joy division when I was a teenager. , new years eve 1979, i was just a kid but remember it well, I spoke to Ian Curtis at the bar after the gig, He would've hated that film. I gave him my lighter, he asked for a light and I gave him My lighter. In those days most people just had matches, but i gave him my lighter, he probably just lost it anyway but it sticks in my mind.. Happy days!

  • @CaptinCrawky did he have a black eye at the bar ? he had a fight that evening and according to debbie he woke up with a big black eye.

  • @CaptinCrawky

Who cares? It brings a new gen of fans to such a fantastic band.

You're ALSO probably full of shite yourself. Even so, how would you personally know if HE liked it or not? Considering his wife wrote the book the movie was based on, and Anton (their photographer and close friend) made the movie.

Though of course, you lent him your lighter. Apologies.

  • @RockaBanner I didnt lend him it, I gave him it ya fuckin nob head, anyway how can you possibly have an opinion on anythin to do with Joy Division? you are an Ausie. Stick to Rolf Harris mate.

  • @CaptinCrawky

Rolf Harris came to my school once, and i could tell he was thirsty - and i had a juice box, so i gave him my juice box. I don't know if he wanted my juice box, but i gave him..... my juice box.

He probably threw it away, but it sticks in my mind. Happy days.

  • @RockaBanner What the fuck is a juice box?????? Weird cunt.

  • @CaptinCrawky Took my breath * - *

  • @CaptinCrawky mate, you gave Ian Curtis your lighter after a gig that happened 32 years ago, that's it. you didn't KNOW him, whereas Anton Corbijn did and therefore actually has an idea of what Ian's opinion on Control could have been.

  • @CaptinCrawky wow. im jealous. ur a lucky one my friend

  • @scarface82us amen

  • hope my sons will understand how great you were, Ian

  • Oh what could've been. Great song.

  • No one could top Ian in dancing! :)

I love this song. I think it sounds better live.

There`s something great about this performance!

And look at his right eye at 0:27!

  • I know a lot of focus and attention is given to Ian Curtis when people talk about Joy Division, but damn when he sings the "Day In Day Out Day In Day Out" part it's imense, it really is electric. Thank you to Ian Curtis, Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook and Stephen Morris for their songs and performances, no-one can even compare them.

  • love

  • holy mother of fuck i love joy division

  • manchester has so many legends :)

  • Joy Division es lo maximo!! Gracias por su musica!! Son eternos... Ian Curtis es eterno

  • Woops. My bad. Hahahah I meant its too bad he took his life.

  • isnt this the last song and performance that ian did?

  • not this version

  • LEGENDS!!!!

  • hardbannockmusic - Urmm, thats careless.

  • It is the 29th anniversary of Ian Curtis's death today...R.I.P Ian, great live band.

  • didn't take his life? but he did

  • ya but he chose to die... he wasnt shot or anything like john lennon only 7 mths later

  • yes me to =(

  • Ian, you'll never fade away!

(sorry, I know that's cheesy, but, I love Joy Division.)

  • @BBeNN1011 miss him every dat

  • @BBeNN1011 you're right, though. There's no way that a light that burned so brightly could ever truly fade.

  • @BBeNN1011 nowhere near cheesy.

    IAN, YOU'LL NEVER FADE AWAY!!

DAY IN, DAY OUT, DAY IN, DAY OUT!

  • @BBeNN1011 It's all good man. =)

  • @BBeNN1011 nothing cheesy about that mate ;) he's a ledge.

  • This song gives me shivers. Especially the live version on Still. Cause it's the last song Ian ever played live.

  • this is the last song ian ever played live.

  • how do you now that?

  • It says it on wikipedia

  • lol

  • fucking brilliant song, it sounds excellent live and check my vids i have the audio version of this song and others

  • my all time favourite of joy division-love em.....R.I.P Ian Curtis-ull always be a legend!!

  • Incredible, this just blows today's garbage away

  • absolutely fucking incredible

  • I fucking love this song

  • If anyone watching this video has not already seen Control, then see it now.

  • Control was great, but I thought the documentary was a better depiction of what Joy Division was about and gave more insight as to what Ian was going through. I think Control captured the essence of Joy Division's music and the scene that they came from, but I think that the documentary is less affected and more accurate.

  • This is true. I just saw the doc yesterday and it definitely gave me more of an insight as to what Ian was really going through. See them both!

  • It's real actually. This footage was used in Joy Division, the documentary by Grant Gee.

  • Who cares if it's fake? Well done, I say

  • Why did he hung himself!?!? WHY?!?!?!?

  • 'Control' explains it all....

  • I wouldn't say that at all! It's not as simple as that!

  • I don't think that's what I would do if those happened in the movie happened to me.

  • Mental illness, that's why.

  • It's sad to think of all the great music that would have come from this man if he had lived longer. As big a loss as Cobain, probably greater.

  • IMO its greater not to be disrespectful in anyway

  • It happened, and all that "what if" bullshit is pointless. His death should not be viewed as a loss, but rather a change in course of events. Ian's death greatly impacted the formation of the Madchester scene (New Order funded the Hacienda). I'm not saying that his death was bad or good, but it forced the Manchester music scene to change and evolve. Also, I don't think that anyone can equate the loss of one human life to another. There's no way to judge something like that.

  • from "Alicia Curtis" ?!

Is a joke or what ?

  • My fav joy division song!!!!

  • this was the last song he performed on stage before he hung himself.

  • Yes, though that final performance (which is the B-side of "Still") took place nearly four months after this show.

  • thanks so much for sharing.

  • Not like Ian wasn't taking more than a few prescritions meds at the time. He is still a genius though.

  • Love It

  • Epic Song

  • One of my favorite Joy Division tracks. Such a great song.

The wonders of technology. I used to listen to this through a battered and overused cassette of "Substance" back in the days before the internet and the facelessness of the group further heightened the effect the songs had in me.

  • FUCKING GREAT!

  • qué canción más buena loco

  • Day in, day out,

    Day in, day out (8)

  • zielBDG are you joking??? nothing to say about Curtis, but...Cobain and Morrison did drugs too as they were writing their most brilliant songs...nothing about a lack of inspiration...in these cases ok? that's just bad examples.

  • i love that music!!!! thanks

  • this live version is better than the studio one in "Substance" CD(in my opinion).

  • @grazianeddu Their live recordings are the only tracks I listen to. Such awesome energy live.

  • The voice of Ian Curtis is unique and original, so powerful in live versions, there is no comparison, epecially in this performance. One of the best of the eighties.

  • i dont understand how that merited a -7 and a spam rating?

    i feel your pain rabidvitamins

  • the most amazing bass i have ever heard combined with the genius of ian curtis. every time i watch him just can't take my eyes of him.Definately up there with morrison and cobain.

  • good comment

  • hes in a different league fella.

  • damn right

  • morrison and cobain died partly because drugs and alcohole, and you know when artists stars to take drugs? when they dont have many ideas left. Curtis was a pure poet, and propably, up there, he is hanging out with Lennon or Rimbaud

  • i thinks ians vocals reaaaaaaally go well with JD the mood of the guitar and the rythem of the drums goes perfectly

ians gotta be one of my absolute faovourit lead singers

  • que buen tema...es una lastima lo de curtis.. escucha new order, es lo opuesto a joy division pero es la raja...hay un en vivo en la bbc de joy division q viene con un en vivo de new order...

  • Shame know one listened to what he was saying

  • All you Goths, Emos, Punks infact anyone You remember IAN CURTIS! He started it all. Plus I seen in't chippy last week.

  • jd the only thing that gets me through the day

  • I'm with you.

  • Suuuuch a good song.
