When we were in primary school in China back in 70'. The state one day suddenly called for all Chinese people to critisise his documentary about China saying it's insutant movie to Chinese people and it distorted our country's image. But none of people from what I knew had seen that movie that time. Now I finally see it - it's so natual and the author was just friendly to tell the world a true China then! Ask a mainland Chinese who are over 45, who'd still remember the funny and sad old days.

我也嚮往民主，可是，民主在十幾億人民面前是不能短時間完全實現­的。全面民主就會力量分散，完全民主不是什麽體制都有利的。

作為海外的一名普通留學生，我表達著自己不激憤的言辭，我愛台灣­，我愛大陸。一起讓我們的泱泱大國再現世界中心的偉岸。

When I was in primary school I heard "安东尼奥尼". Why? because all meadia and even our teachers talked about his movie about China - we called an anti-China movie by 安东尼奥尼. But none of us had ever seen it. There was a pilotical campaign to criticise this anit- China movie saying it portrayed many buildings or streets aslant deliberately.

Sigh! that's that old era - crazy, ignorant and stupid.

after been to many parts of china, i can assure you that china is one big fucking sucks country!! poor infrastruture, poor people, out of control pollution and poor hygine. the vast rural poverty in china is one of the worst poverty i have ever seen similar to africa. revisited the sichuan where was run down by earthquake last year, a year later of today, that place is still in rubbles, nothing has been rebuilt! million of poeple still living in shalters or shacks!

where can I get the whole film? As a Chinese who was born in 80s, I am very curious about the world where my father generation grew up. In my mind, it should be a simple, pure, enthusiastic and revolutionary world I have ever seen.

Well, it may be pure and simple but I guess it will never be a world you want to live for a long time. You can tell from the film that people live a poor life and I am surprised to find that the air pollution problem for Beijing existed even in the 1970s. Personally, I would like to appreciate the effort of Deng xiaoping. He made China a better place.

I agree with your point. Of course it wont be the world I want to live for even one second. My grandfather died from the culture revolution. I'm just curious about it. Yes, as you said, Deng is a great person. No matter what he did in 1989, without him I couldnt sit here, a famous university in UK, and use internet to reply to your comment. He's died for 10 years but what he has done is still influencing my life and maybe my children's in the future. Have a nice day!
