  • i always wonted to learn piano but its to expensive... :( i love the piece

  • @xxjen04xx Teach yourself, that's what I have done =) and now Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence is my favorite piece to play. You can learn with time and patience, but most of all persistence and discipline!

  • @xxjen04xx It's never too late! It is easier for a child to grow up with the instrument, but persistence at any age will open the instrument up for you. My sister had the luck of an inherited piano - a relic incapabel of being tuned. Perhaps older, tunable pianos can be found. A keyboard is a very affordable alternative. No pedals, and dynamics only on some, but even still one can learn a lot well in the years it takes to exceed a weaker instrument. Go for it! Avoid regret.

  • @ocarrollcian A kayboard can also use pedals =]

  • @darkenzeru I never knew. Is it only certain (expensive?) types or something common? I've seen electric pianos which are beautiful but also very expensive.

  • @ocarrollcian I didn't buy mine myself so I'm not sure about the price, but I don't think they're that expensive =]

Nah, I think it depends on the keyboard what kind of cable you need (I've got a Roland E96), and at the back you can see a few places where you can plug in the cable. The pedal you can attach to the cable on the other side.

Let's see... If you just search for 'keyboard pedal' on google, you'll find them. Also, you can see examples if you search for images =]

  • @ocarrollcian Oh, and I guess this also depends on the keyboard but it's probably possible on all of them: you can also use the pedal to do different things, other than just use it as a pedal for the piano.

  • 雪降らせると似合うね。

  • それは貴女でしょう?

  • this guy is truly handsome according to his music

  • @nijnun If you seen him in "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence" when he was a lot younger. He's a pretty good looking guy.

  • @zitzerman I was in Paris at Cité de la Musique for the first concert. Incroyable !!

All concerts are shown live on Ustream

  • @zitzerman Yes, what a phenomenal evening. It was an absolute privilege to witness - it was the second time I've seen him in concert and he never ceases to amaze. To my mind, he is the greatest musician alive today, a real treasure. His music is too beautiful for words, and he seems like such an unassuming and humble man too! We need more Sakamotos in the world...

  • un lujo para los sentidos, arigato maravillosa para oidos, quedan muy pocos con tanta sensibilidad

  • amazing!!!

  • I'm noticing that the front part of the piano is missing and part of the action is visible.

  • He is indeed playing a Yamaha. You can just make out the name on the piano at around 2:49. It shouldn't really matter what he's playing, but I was nonetheless curious to find out, which is the reason I watched this video today. :)

  • sensational music

  • :*)

  • oirla es como sentir un amor imposible

  • the weakest track, "Joe Hisaishi" is the best, "Sakamoto"

joe hisaishi is the best compositor ever

  • @vpirate65

Ruyichi has had a lot more success than Hisashi.

  • @vpirate65 compositer? your argument is invalid just for saying that.

  • stop arguing and just listen to this musical genius of a god.

  • He looks like hes form an anime!!!

Some of the best composers come from Asia dont we love Japan, upgrading our Iphone software every 2 months. Not being able to jailbreak it *sighs*

  • The highest rated comments are irrelevant to the actual video.

  • @derek4ur Not all music has to be intensely stimulating and thought-stirring.

  • @derek4ur

2deep4u maybe? sometimes less is more, and more is less.

not that you'd know, you're too busy making boring derivative vaguely world music sounding compesitions that hide simple chord progressions behind moving basslines and enough effects to make the edge puke

plus i have to say your synth tones are pretty shitty and sound like you just took some midi files and dicked with them a bit

overall i'd say boring, derivative effect wankery. a notch below musak

  • @Robertthewren Your comment is clever--you kind of beat me, and left myself open, in our little verbal joust...

However: a "moving" bassline--as opposed to which sort, brain-dead?--

frankly, no, I used hardly any effects--just reverb--

i am fine with you not liking the synth tones--taste is personal--

I'm proud of only one of my tunes, "Song for Yvette"--

I'm fond of the one i wrote for my niece--

i may well improve, ya don't know--

I go now to check out YOUR original music--

  • @Robertthewren Guess what, kid--you haven't posted any original tunes!!

Look--I have come to respect Sakamoto, too--when I posted here, I hadn't heard the stuff he did for "The Last Emporer"--I like some of that--

I am creating and have stuff posted. Eventually, I'll do great stuff--and it may well be crap as far as fans of New Age Classical are concerned--

    But: You aren't creating anything...hobbyist.

  • @Robertthewren I want to correct myself: i used chorus, as well as reverb--that is it, though. If you hear flange or phase, you are really hearing character native to the synth sounds.

  • @Robertthewren i am sorry i called you names--you didn't do that to me...

i like "Song for Yvette" better than this, though--i just listened to it--to each his own...

  • @Robertthewren I am leaving my comments for your benefit--but I feel stupid for taking the bait--I'll tell you: I have serious reservations about this New Age Classical stuff--I think some of it is blank, emotionally--even some of Sakamoto's stuff--he's terrific technically, but I don't like all his music and you don't like any of mine. You were nasty to me, so I was mean back--if you are a composer, post you stuff--or else, you are open to my criticism... I am outta here... Goodbye.

  • I've totally fallen in love with Ryuichi Sakamoto ^__^!! Does anyone know where I could find some piano notes of his? The melodies are quite catchable but it's hard for me to find the lines of the left hand..:'(

  • 俺に金とチャンスがあったらなー ここにメルヘンチックなドラムとギターの音色を

    のせてあげられます^w^ ジミーペイジさんのような音色だお^^

  • I attended this concert in Japan.

    It was splendid!

I like "Energy FLow" and I can play this music.

    Everyone inspired by his performance.

  • sencillamente maravillosa para los sentidos, oirla es estar en otro plano

  • so beautiful it hurts

  • @Chroogomphus Not for me.

  • This song single handedly got me back into piano a few years ago. I've always been a Sakamoto fan after listening to Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence but this song is up there next to it.

  • is this in any films? miyazaki's to be precise? can some let me know

  • @skaterboi8000 Miyazaki's the one who directs Ghibli films right? If that's who your thinking of, the composer for all those songs are Joe Hisaishi.

  • 42people don't know the music

Ryuichi Sakamoto is one of the best musician in the whole world!

  • very beautiful sound...love it!

  • Linda canción m(*O*)m

  • I CAN FINALLY PLAY THIS WHOLE DAM SONG

took so long to master it

  • @xxrayziozxx that's fantastic! way to go!

  • So much emotion in this piece, I can feel it...this is music.

  • This is such a beautiful song!!!! A fiend of mine sent me the link and wow....it's so peaceful, so melancholic....it sent me far away to a perfect world! A world where people stuck on the material things do not exist...

  • Oh My Gosh. This is certainly a piece that needs to be appreciated. SO many emotions could be felt just from listening to this...

  • something like this piece expresses so much emotion.

  • @marmot...so sorry about your loss..

  • My Dad just died and I found this beautiful music and it heals my pain...

  • I'll try and put as much in as I can here!Ryuichi Sakamoto- one of the world's most underrated talents- not only in his sublime musical prowess, but also acting ability- 'MERRY CHRISTMAS, MR LAWRENCE' [1982- starring a magnificent performance by the inimitable David Bowie [coming 'off the back' of a near fatal heroin addiction] is one of the most underrated war depictions ever made! It should have garnered an 'Oscar' for Bowie, original score and cinematography- a hauntingly beautiful movie!

  • 40 people are missclicked the like button

  • Disliking this is like peeing against the wind.

  • @lavb13 Some people might do it, but it doesn't mean they should?

  • RELIGION has nothing to do with it. You brainwashed puppets.

  • omg this really goes well with this /watch?v=AYw7eJYadco

  • ESPRIME TUTTO QUELLO CHE HO DENTRO...SENZA PAROLE....

  • e ogni volta mi commuovo

  • you know what: i noticed that i like every video wich has anything to do with sakamoto, my maestro... creepy

  • Beautiful.

  • Jeez can't all of your just stfu and appreciate the song? I'm so sick of so much debate going on about whether or not we should pray for Japan, I mean dammit no matter where you're from, no matter which country, race or religion, we're all human. And every single person deserves help when they're in need of it, be it in prayer or donation. No act of goodwill should be considered worthless or futile. You all disgust me to no end.

  • @kendoboy97 very well said when does the hate stop.

  • @kendoboy97 Hey u know monkey see monkey do right.

I know your trying to proof a point here but see this its not stopping them to debate so why

    even bother right?

  • @kendoboy97

Wow !!! A Since, Good Person !!! Thumbs Up !!!

    PEACE

  • @kendoboy97 well said! Those douchebags certainly need to shut the hell up.

  • @kendoboy97 Well said.~

  • fantastic!

  • @Invesigator they do believe in some God, but it's different from "God, Dios, Déu, Dieu, Dio, Allah..." or whatever names He has depending on the country. and the fact that they don't believe in the same God as you doesn't mean that they're not worth praying for, because deep inside we are all connected by mother nature; we're all brothers who must help each other. It's rude for you to say such a thing, since there are thousands of people who lost their families and still haven't gotten over it.

  • @tattivalenti90 How many Westerners prayed for Pakistan when that country suffered massive floods last year?

  • @Invesigator it's true that many westerners have a bad image on arabs/muslims because of israeli propaganda, but that doesn't give you the right to generalize everybody and say that someone is not worth praying or feeling sorry for. that's like saying that pakistanis are not worth praying for because they didn't pray for japan. we are all human, we shouldn't hate each other and argue over who did what first. so stop bringing topics on politics and religion and just listen tot the song.

  • let's stop talking god when listening to such a contemporary masterpeace, and religion is so not contemporary.

  • Beautiful!

  • Very nice piece

  • oh ye of little faith

  • 39 people , just cursole carefully at the Like button and click it with sincerity . Then you would never make the same mistake again . I guarantee .

  • Prayer shows that you care and if you truly mean it, your prayer will be heard. Sometimes those with the best of intentions cannot act for whatever reason. God moves in mysterious ways and we have to trust in Him. It's extremely difficult sometimes, well most of the time really but that's what faith is all about. Our thoughts and prayers should be with those less fortunate than ourselves wherever they may be. God bless rAwb0t for reminding us.

  • @jrowlando god's fabricated though

  • It would seem to me that prayer is a way for us to be grateful for what we have in life or another way we think about others who may be going through hard times and a way for us to remember those important to us/less fortunate than us. Collective consciousness is built through prayer. It is not always in everyone's power or best interest to go directly to Japan and throwing money somewhere doesn't always help either, in the end it is the thought that counts and there's nothing idiotic about it

  • @rAwb0t Enough people believing/thinking about something tends to create something too, whether that be through individuals taking action or just the thought in this case about people surviving a natural disaster can be a humbling reminder to all the things we enjoy in our lives. I am not saying giving money or going to Japan and directly doing relief work are bad ideas because doing all 3 would be very admirable

  • I want to be able to do that.

  • are the 37 dislikes insane? this piece is stunning.

  • This song just simply took my heart away,

  • I love watching his hands, sooo good.

  • stunning.

  • @MasonGaming22 They arent frickin idiots

give respect man. If they dont like it then they dont

dont force them something that they cant love

i respect them for what ever they like whether its just rap or justin bieber

but dont rip on them man

    respect

  • @scarydead well i like this music but im mainly a fan of trance techno. So people dont have to listen always to the same music, and i think we are right when we respect who loves different genres. Our tastes in music depend on a lot of things, and sometimes we want to discover other songs or styles. For example i hate rap, but when my friends try to force me into it i like doing new experiences.

  • @JugglingGuido Sweet man :)

im really into some chill trance music as well

  • people like justin biber rather than ryuichi sakamoto lol

  • So good!

  • every peace that sakamoto compose is a gift... i have no words for his music... maybe it sounds ridiculous, but his music changed my live...
