@xxjen04xx Teach yourself, that's what I have done =) and now Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence is my favorite piece to play. You can learn with time and patience, but most of all persistence and discipline!
@xxjen04xx It's never too late! It is easier for a child to grow up with the instrument, but persistence at any age will open the instrument up for you. My sister had the luck of an inherited piano - a relic incapabel of being tuned. Perhaps older, tunable pianos can be found. A keyboard is a very affordable alternative. No pedals, and dynamics only on some, but even still one can learn a lot well in the years it takes to exceed a weaker instrument. Go for it! Avoid regret.
@darkenzeru I never knew. Is it only certain (expensive?) types or something common? I've seen electric pianos which are beautiful but also very expensive.
@ocarrollcian I didn't buy mine myself so I'm not sure about the price, but I don't think they're that expensive =]
Nah, I think it depends on the keyboard what kind of cable you need (I've got a Roland E96), and at the back you can see a few places where you can plug in the cable. The pedal you can attach to the cable on the other side.
Let's see... If you just search for 'keyboard pedal' on google, you'll find them. Also, you can see examples if you search for images =]
@ocarrollcian Oh, and I guess this also depends on the keyboard but it's probably possible on all of them: you can also use the pedal to do different things, other than just use it as a pedal for the piano.
@6Dahlia6 check out from Google search engine. there's a many kinds of his including several social discussions besides music. those music lives started in the midnight to morning here, had to get some sleep to go to work.
I saw him last April with Alva Noto at the Roundhouse and again last week at the Royal Festival Hall with his Trio... mesmerising as always, I can listen to him forever!
An adult mature member of the modern society, of a darkened skin pigmentation with ancestory reaching back to pre-historic neolithic roots, appears to have escaped from within my easy reach without verbal or written consent, within possession of a two-wheeled manually ridden vehicle named the 'bicycle' that originally belonged to me, and said gentlemen shows no intent to return my vehicle; and forthwith the actions commited by the darkly pigmented gentlemen - I strongly show disapproval for.
@zitzerman Yes, what a phenomenal evening. It was an absolute privilege to witness - it was the second time I've seen him in concert and he never ceases to amaze. To my mind, he is the greatest musician alive today, a real treasure. His music is too beautiful for words, and he seems like such an unassuming and humble man too! We need more Sakamotos in the world...
we believe in Shinto and buddihism. NOT musulim. none can force others of their owns. tsunami is a punishment ?Don't pray ?! god will serve that muslin guy right.
He is indeed playing a Yamaha. You can just make out the name on the piano at around 2:49. It shouldn't really matter what he's playing, but I was nonetheless curious to find out, which is the reason I watched this video today. :)
2deep4u maybe? sometimes less is more, and more is less.
not that you'd know, you're too busy making boring derivative vaguely world music sounding compesitions that hide simple chord progressions behind moving basslines and enough effects to make the edge puke
plus i have to say your synth tones are pretty shitty and sound like you just took some midi files and dicked with them a bit
overall i'd say boring, derivative effect wankery. a notch below musak
@Robertthewren I want to correct myself: i used chorus, as well as reverb--that is it, though. If you hear flange or phase, you are really hearing character native to the synth sounds.
@Robertthewren I am leaving my comments for your benefit--but I feel stupid for taking the bait--I'll tell you: I have serious reservations about this New Age Classical stuff--I think some of it is blank, emotionally--even some of Sakamoto's stuff--he's terrific technically, but I don't like all his music and you don't like any of mine. You were nasty to me, so I was mean back--if you are a composer, post you stuff--or else, you are open to my criticism... I am outta here... Goodbye.
I've totally fallen in love with Ryuichi Sakamoto ^__^!! Does anyone know where I could find some piano notes of his? The melodies are quite catchable but it's hard for me to find the lines of the left hand..:'(
This song single handedly got me back into piano a few years ago. I've always been a Sakamoto fan after listening to Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence but this song is up there next to it.
This is such a beautiful song!!!! A fiend of mine sent me the link and wow....it's so peaceful, so melancholic....it sent me far away to a perfect world! A world where people stuck on the material things do not exist...
I'll try and put as much in as I can here!Ryuichi Sakamoto- one of the world's most underrated talents- not only in his sublime musical prowess, but also acting ability- 'MERRY CHRISTMAS, MR LAWRENCE' [1982- starring a magnificent performance by the inimitable David Bowie [coming 'off the back' of a near fatal heroin addiction] is one of the most underrated war depictions ever made! It should have garnered an 'Oscar' for Bowie, original score and cinematography- a hauntingly beautiful movie!
Jeez can't all of your just stfu and appreciate the song? I'm so sick of so much debate going on about whether or not we should pray for Japan, I mean dammit no matter where you're from, no matter which country, race or religion, we're all human. And every single person deserves help when they're in need of it, be it in prayer or donation. No act of goodwill should be considered worthless or futile. You all disgust me to no end.
Don't pray for Japan, pray for the poor and those who are religious and believe in God. The Japanese were punished with a Tsunami and radiation because they never gave enough support to Muslims. In stead they happily went along with western culture.
The Jews like the Japanese because the latter are also good with music. Unfortunately, the Jews are the ones who are totally responsible for 9/11 and framing Muslims for it so that the latter suffer a catastrophical military backlash.
@Invesigator they do believe in some God, but it's different from "God, Dios, Déu, Dieu, Dio, Allah..." or whatever names He has depending on the country. and the fact that they don't believe in the same God as you doesn't mean that they're not worth praying for, because deep inside we are all connected by mother nature; we're all brothers who must help each other. It's rude for you to say such a thing, since there are thousands of people who lost their families and still haven't gotten over it.
@Invesigator it's true that many westerners have a bad image on arabs/muslims because of israeli propaganda, but that doesn't give you the right to generalize everybody and say that someone is not worth praying or feeling sorry for. that's like saying that pakistanis are not worth praying for because they didn't pray for japan. we are all human, we shouldn't hate each other and argue over who did what first. so stop bringing topics on politics and religion and just listen tot the song.
Prayer shows that you care and if you truly mean it, your prayer will be heard. Sometimes those with the best of intentions cannot act for whatever reason. God moves in mysterious ways and we have to trust in Him. It's extremely difficult sometimes, well most of the time really but that's what faith is all about. Our thoughts and prayers should be with those less fortunate than ourselves wherever they may be. God bless rAwb0t for reminding us.
It would seem to me that prayer is a way for us to be grateful for what we have in life or another way we think about others who may be going through hard times and a way for us to remember those important to us/less fortunate than us. Collective consciousness is built through prayer. It is not always in everyone's power or best interest to go directly to Japan and throwing money somewhere doesn't always help either, in the end it is the thought that counts and there's nothing idiotic about it
@rAwb0t Enough people believing/thinking about something tends to create something too, whether that be through individuals taking action or just the thought in this case about people surviving a natural disaster can be a humbling reminder to all the things we enjoy in our lives. I am not saying giving money or going to Japan and directly doing relief work are bad ideas because doing all 3 would be very admirable
@scarydead well i like this music but im mainly a fan of trance techno. So people dont have to listen always to the same music, and i think we are right when we respect who loves different genres. Our tastes in music depend on a lot of things, and sometimes we want to discover other songs or styles. For example i hate rap, but when my friends try to force me into it i like doing new experiences.

@tattivalenti90 How many Westerners prayed for Pakistan when that country suffered massive floods last year?
Invesigator 7 months ago
@Invesigator it's true that many westerners have a bad image on arabs/muslims because of israeli propaganda, but that doesn't give you the right to generalize everybody and say that someone is not worth praying or feeling sorry for. that's like saying that pakistanis are not worth praying for because they didn't pray for japan. we are all human, we shouldn't hate each other and argue over who did what first. so stop bringing topics on politics and religion and just listen tot the song.

let's stop talking god when listening to such a contemporary masterpeace, and religion is so not contemporary.
