I googled this poem after a guy on YT told me hes related to the writer of FLANDERS FIELDS.....its a sad poem and amazing that Poppy Day basically came about after ppl saw this poem.
John McCrea must have seen some terrible things and thought of all the wasted lives. Its sad he died fairly young also.
Wow! , Thank you very much. "...out of the mouth's of babes.." I'm so glad that You like it, I'm honored Katie, and very pleased to meet You. I have a song version of his Great Poem, it's the very first video I uploaded onto YouTube. I too have a dash of the McCrae Clan in me. Best Regards to You and Your Family. ~ Love and Peace Be With You. ~ scott
@KayyKayy9513 That's right, he is buried at the coastal town of Wimereux (wimer-ooh) France, at a hillside cemetary overlooking the English Channel, where on a clear day you can see Englands white cliffs of Dover. He was at Ypres, ( "eeps")Belgium, where he wrote his famous poem. Then was at Boulogue France on the coast, at NO. 3 Canadian Hospital, where later he fell ill, and was taken to NO.14 at Wimereux where he died of pnemonia. Jan. 28, 1918 ~ scott
J'ai été voir là où à été écrit 'in Flanders Fileds". terrible endroit pour vivre et surtout pour mourir... Allez donc vous revueillir un moment à "Essex Farm" ces gens ont connu l'enfer! In Flanders Fields!
