  • my old 84 300zx na was one of my best winter cars. did good in snow with winter wheels and still started up and had decent heat even at -45F

any car that can survive a Alaska winter is a good car to me

    ლ(◕_◕ლ)

  • okay when i first bought my 84 300zx everything worked but i decided to put a cd player in it and the wires that plug into the lighter and ashtray and i plugged them back in and the lights in the car wont turn on and the head lights work but they do not come up, any suggestions???

  • EVERY 300ZX does that

  • well how do you fix it then

  • i forget...ill ask around though...

  • @IStayFlyiii unplug the lighter and ashtray.. my friends z32 tt does that but with his hicus switch he jus unplugged it

  • Yeah guys, just got a Z and this was super helpful. First thing I am going to do is change the timing belt. How much does something like that run?

  • well the belt is around 20 or 30$,pump 70$,pulley not sure and labor is probably 350$-400$...but it sure is worth it...please share this vid,thanks...

  • Yeah...just got a quote from a trusted mechanic here in Washington state and it is looking like it will be around $800 for everything. Not ideal, but I trust the guy and he is doing some shopping for some cheaper parts. Anyway...thanks a bunch for the video and I will be sharing it with other people who have Z31s!

  • wow...i gotta admit thats a little pricey..but at least you trust him...at least you only have to change it every 60k...i wish i could help out a little more...

  • another problem with these is the heads can get a bit corroded if the cooling system isnt kept upto scratch.. and it is a massive pain in the ass to change the heads on one of these even worse on the z32

  • true thanx 4 the info..

  • I had an 85. A great car it was. The Z31 considered by most techs to be the mechanical nightmares !!! They are still considered to be daily drivers to this day. Some of them fetch good bucks on e-bay like the 300Zx 50th anniversary edition and the other rare 1988 Shiro Special .

  • my car has about 73,300 on it, 87' 300zx N/A, pretty much exact same car.

no timing belt change yet, or as i know.

should i get one? and how much woudl it cost..

  • CHANGE IT IMMEDIETLY!!!

  • and TRY not to drive it!

  • how much would that cost..i just spent 290 replacing the starter motor!

  • you might spend around 350 dollars...but it MUST be done! timing belts are supposed to be changed EVERY 60,000 miles...if you dont and it breaks...TRUST ME youre engine WILL be DESTROYED!

  • sorry to be the 1 to tell you..but im sure youll thank me for it later...look up "interference engine"

  • I've never had any issues with windows on any of my Z31s.

As for the previous comment, Z31s arent heavy at all, not by todays standards. 2800-3100lbs.

  • i thought they were 3200?? ...and TRUST ME on the windows!! lol

  • The 2+2s are 3200-3300...

I don't know man, I've been a part of the Z31 community for about 4 years now and haven't heard anything about that, nor have any of our Z31s done it (we have 4).

  • im surprized...youre very lucky, cuz its happened to us all the time...actually my friend in his 280zx had his windows halfway up and drove over RR tracks or a speed bump and they both broke off and shattered in the doors...lol

  • Definitely suspenssion and shocks. This cars being so heavy they like to bounce like a low rider when the suspenssion is gone.

A good radiator flush or upgrade with an aluminum radiator and syntetic oil are a good upgrade for Z31s too.
