  • Hehehe...Butch Patrick from The Munsters (Eddie Munster) as Mark.

  • ahhhh the use of hallucinogens mind you...

  • That Sid and Marty Croft stuff was so nasty, cheesy and fake. I hated it when I was 10, and 40 years later, well, it still lacks that cool retro feel that so much of the 70's stuff had. You might even call it one of the 70's "skeletons in the closet"; the stuff people who put down the 70's are talking about.

  • I used to love all those Sid & Marty shows of that time, without understanding the more adult subtexts to them. Is anyone else creeped out at the thought of Charles Nelson Reilly kidnapping a teenage boy into his own alternate universe?

  • Good gods, I used to love this show.

  • My God. I haven't seen this in 41 years. I remember it every Saturday morning when I was 6 in Atlanta. Who can forget Charles Nelson Reilly?

  • Like it! They sure don' t make cartoons like they use to. Boy, we were lucky!

  • At the 0:17 mark what in the hell is wrong with that guy in the green shirt???

  • This was my favorite saturday morning show...

  • The commentary for Family Guy's "Family Goy" episode brought me here... Anyone else actually listen to those things?

  • Ahh yes, back when Six Flags still flew ALL SIX FLAGS, representing the six flags that have flown over Texas (where Six Flags originated): Spain, France, Mexico, Texas Republic, USA, and Confederate. The Confederate flag is clearly visible at 0.04 in the intro (on the left). You NEVER see that anymore - except maybe a KKK rally or something.

  • Hr 'puffin' stuff' is tha shit

  • Lidsville, who was on drugs? Us 12 year olds or the Creators? Don't think it matters, just...that it was.

  • the drugs in the 70's were just the best.

  • Yep, this is great stuff to watch when you're properly "medicated"! God bless you, Charles Nelson Reilly, you were the REAL star of this show!

  • A male "Alice" - SMIRK!!!

BUTCH PATRICK was damn cute as Eddie!

  • Wow, freaky nostalgia action. Thanks for posting this.

  • what the fuck is that weird puppet prop thing at 1:10

  • man I was born in 68 and i remember watching this like a ritual, this and Land of the Lost and H R Puff and Stuff and now i think, I was only like, 3 or 4?? This was such a freak out at the time! Thanks for posting, brings back good memories when all life was about the next episode...sigh

  • Ahh...back in the days when kids show writers realsed that there would probably be just as many potheads watching as small children so they may as well cater for them (although I'm sure one or both of the Krofft brothers must have been into marleys special blend). It can be denied by the creators these days all they want but come on 'anyone who goes to lidsville really flips his lid?' Definite drugs ref. Shame there was no more of this stable when I was growing up.

  • I'm absolutely tripping balls.

  • I LOVE ALL OF SID AND MARTY KROFFT SHOWS AND STILL DO!!!!!!!!!! I WOULD WATCH ALL OF THEM AND IF THEY WERE STILL ON THE AIR NOW, EVEN THOUGH I'M 50 YEARS OLD< I:D STILL WATCH ALL OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!

  • @starladodge4 You and I need to hook up!! Lol , Ill bring the Bong....

  • HR "PUFFNSTUFF" "LIDSVILLE" Think about it....a little more. Ok yea Sid and Marty Kroft like smoking weed....LOL

  • Wasn't it obvious from the horrible attempt to make a movie from Land of the Lost to leave these old classics alone? A movie of this will be awful.

Actually the evil hats look pretty scary when you're a kid.

  • Hanna Barbara made the Banana Splits.

  • Heh, we were ahead of the Japanese in terms of weird and wild media. This came out a full fifteen years before Donky-Kong and Mario Bros.

  • This shit is the shit!!!

  • Lidsville: My vaforitte Show in the 70's!

  • I think it's no coincidence that 'lid' is also slang for an ounce of bud.

  • dude lets drop a tab duuuude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • BTW, the kid playing Mark was also Eddie Munster.

  • @chubbycubnc Wow, it's butch Patrick! Boy, that was a real dive for him after the Munsters!

  • Not the third Krofft series... Bugaloos, Banana Splits, and HR Pufnstuf were all before this one.

  • As much as I loved S&MK, these discs went into storage when I made a temporary move. I just didn't want the nightmares following me.

  • Ok, the first time I heard the Britney Spears' song "Womanizer," I instantly thought of this theme song. Has anyone else noticed the similarities?

  • @maddogslade

I had to go listen to Womanizer and you are absolutely right! The basic foundation of both songs are the same --- that is hilarious. Good ear Maddogslade...very good ear.

  • @maddogslade It kind of reminded me of "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite", by the Beatles.

  • What drugs were Sid & Marty Krofft taking when they came up with this and HR Puff-n-Stuff, and Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, and can you get them over the counter in Canada?

  • People who don't get this can go suck their CGI !

  • fuckin jews will do anything for a buck

  • I watched this when I was 6. Never cared much for the show, but the beggining was awesome. "Falling, falling, into the hat he fell...Down...Down..." Trippy.

  • If are younger than 45, you will never get this vibe. Like we used to say, "you had to be there."

  • I'll be honest: this looks like a very very bad acid trip.

  • I learned about Lidsville from reading Kevin L Donihe's "House of Houses".

Nothing will ever be the same again.

  • @logician360 you mean things will never be as lame again.

  • gayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I can't belive dream works animation is making a movie out of this....

  • O_O

I think I just transcended a dimension after watching this

  • Great post ! Like you, I know our Saturday's were best. Thanks !!

  • All I have to say is: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Why do I feel like I just smoked a fat joint?

  • What the hell did I just watch.

  • I know.

  • Eddie Munster & Witchiepoo from HR PufnStuff in the same show.

  • Now on ch.28 LA California. Saturday and Sunday mornings.9:30am

  • @MyEdgar70

One of the good things about KCET dumping PBS.

  • Now on on ch.28 LA California. Saturday and Sunday mornings.9:30am

  • Lidsville now can be seen on KCET Ch. 28 Los Angeles.Saturday &Sundays mornings,Check for time.

  • @MyEdgar70 it is? pufnstuf comes on at the same time and channel here

  • @chevyss67222

Also known as Eddie Munster. I like the Munsters as well.

  • CRACKWOOD is right around the corner from Lidsville. look it up. CRACKWOOD!!!!

  • I just discovered at wal-mart that this show along with others by sid and marty is now on a nice dvd collection disc. All for just a simple 10 bucks. I'm gonna get my copy soon.

Sid and marty krofft return--to dvd that is.

  • so basically, we know the entire plot of the show from watching the intro...

  • I didnt realize that was Eddie Munster

  • @HollywoodJoe13 I thought he looked familiar, thanx for pointin' that out.

  • @HollywoodJoe13 a 19 year old Eddie Munster

  • They had to be high to write this stuff !!!

  • Gah I am 23 and love this show. I have the complete dvd season set of this. Pufnstuf and this is just the bees knees.

  • Was this filmed at Six Flags Over Texas?

  • Why does no one I know know this show?

  • a ho ho ho ho ho hows that for topper uh ho ho

  • Did Mark ever escape from Lidsville?

  • Hey, that was one groovy acid dream. I wonder how long it took between the time he came back from the trip to the time he wrote this story lol.

  • Can I score a trey bag in Lidsville?

  • so that green guy was the voice i heard in marilyn manson's song "dope hat"

  • 0:56

Nothing special really, just a light that turns yellow and purple.

  • I enjoyed marty and crofts shows, I'm 40 now, and they were lost to me for a long time.

I've been searching for marty and sid crofts shows forever ! thank goodness for internet, my search is over. 2 years ago i found hr puff n stuff, but it took me forver to find the villan magician in a top hat! I just found it today, i came across your youtube, thank you. I'm adding this vid to my vlog, and favorites.

  • @cashier870 Hey, sigman the seamonster was a pot production if ever there was one. They were lazy, sat around watching tv and played on the beach. Doctor shrinker was cocaine and lidsville was acid. They used real sugar in cereal back then too lol.

  • OMG! I had forgotten all about this show!

  • OMG...even at 47, this looks like genius to me! I LOVED this show!

  • Hey Eddie Munster looks kind of cute as a teenager.

  • @honeegrrl I agree with you, he is really cute.

  • Comment removed

  • @honeegrrl Yes, I agree. He was a such cute boy.

  • Wow, how the fuck do you fall into something that big?

Also, does anyone think that Mark is a bit too old to be going to carnivals?

  • I believe the band Jellyfish tried to make a career out of the imagery and music presented in this show.

BTW- If this show was on today, it would be sponsored out the yin. Imagine one of the hats being a NY Yankees cap. You get the idea.

  • The greatest show ever. Ever.

  • Ahhh man this was my show back in the day...

  • i'm 43 and i still know the songs i can't help to sing them still you got love sid and marty kroft i wish more parent had there children watch these then some of the new ones

  • wow...haven't seen this in 40 years! I remember the 1st half, but not the last...I must've changed channels midway through to watch the Bugs Bunny/Daffy Duck show on CBS.

  • this is literally the scariest thing i've ever seen.

  • @KatieSwofford

Amen to that. It creeps the hell outta me.

  • @sternfan75

    The 70's.....-_-'

  • I watched a bit of this show when it came on TVLand (I think?) a few years ago... I won't lie, most of the reason why I watched this is because I think Mark is hot -- the fact that he was fraternizing with giant foam hats just made it even better.

  • I remember this show vividly. I was 4 yrs. old and loked forward to every episode. I also loved Land of the Lost and all of the other Sid and Marty Krofft Shows. They were pioneers in childrens television.

  • Was it just a coincidence that Sheena Easton's "Morning Train (9 to 5)" sounds so much like this theme song? Should have been a lawsuit.

  • Having to had suffered with these uninspired, poorly written, badly acted Sid and Marty Croft shows, I now understand why I use to try to fly on a broom when I was a child.

  • I was there the first run around with these LSD trip inspired shows. I loved the magic hat but the rest was just a messed up mind trip that lacked good writing and imagination., but I would love to have that Vroom Broom to get around on.

  • The theme scared the heck out of me when I was a kid. (6 to 8 years old)

  • @contessakitty I thought I was the only one! I was four when this came out and it gave me nightmares!

  • Okay who remembers this? lol

  • How did we ever...correction, how did most of YOU grow up undamaged with Saturday morning fare like this? The King Vitamin and Count Chocula was bad enough for us!

  • Ouch!

  • Watching this now at 40, makes me just an anxious as it did when I watched this as a kid.

  • @6of6

Be happy 6of6,,,,do you have any idea how hard it is when you're a kid to bug your parents to check out the Good Will, the Magic Shops, and the Salvation Army's thrift store trying to find THIS HAT? And I'm 49 :P

  • @6of6

You mean anxious as in kind of freaked out and uncomfortable right? I agree, I never really enjoyed the Krofft shows. They kind of freaked me out. I think the kids who liked them also probably liked Wizard of Oz- which also freaks me out. There's just something really disturbing about these Krofft shows.

  • @ar4216 Hey ar4216. It didn't freak me out. The predicament this kid was in; trapped in a bizarre world with no way to get back home. The whole futility & fear of abandonment made me anxious. Must've been a latchkey kid thing.

  • Is your avatar a reference to The Prisoner? Now that's a show I loved. And I see you have a Haysi Fantayzee video favorited. Love that as well. That chick was so hot. Never enjoyed the Krofft shows. So not sure why I waste my time looking them up. LOL! Guess it's just to see if I still find them disturbing. And I do. It's like the Wizard of Oz. People paint that as some lovely kid's movie. For me that flick is second only to The Exorcist- those munchkins, monkeys with wings, the witch. Creepy.

  • @ar4216 It is indeed a Prisoner reference! She is crazy hot. I never realized it back then until I watched the videos again just recently. Yes, campy re-imaginings of originally creepy stories. The newest Oz movie is closer to the creepiness originally intended, I think. YouTube is fast becoming a cornucopia of tidbits from my youth!

  • @6of6 Lool. Me too. Dowwwn, dowwwwwn

  • i dreamed of having a hatamaran when i was young

  • 1) I am amazed that I found this !

    2) That magician scared the shit out of me when I was a kid & still does !

    3) I can't believe I ever fancied that pugh nosed kid !

    4) If you were alive in the 70s you didn't need to take drugs to trip out !

  • they got stoned an forgot to write the rest of the episodes

  • I watched this back in the early 70's when it first came out.. The theme song is great! I have the complete series boxed dvd set. When I watch this it takes me right back to Saturday mornings when I was a kid.

  • wow im only 13 and i used to watch this when i was like 4-6 lol i loved it expecially the song

  • oh man this reminds me of this tape i used to watch as a kid. i didn't even grow up in the 70's yet this is a major part of my past.

  • This is what I used to watch this every Saturday morning?

    No one wonder i'm a friggin freak..lol

This is the longest show intro..

I coulda ate a whole bowl of cereal with that intro alone.

  • I'M SCARED!

  • thats what i see when im high

  • Comment removed

  • This video is probably the most amazing thing to see when you are high, haha

  • The answer to the question of just WHY Sid & Marty never finished these great classic 1970s saturday morning kids shows is a simple one folks...When the budget for the show runs out of money the shows abruptly end and then eventually wind up on VCR's DVDs & YouTube! and I am glad it did because it brings back a lot of great memories.

Oh yeah, Another classic Sid & Marty Croft show without an ending was The Lost Saucer with Ruth Buzi & im Neighbors of Gomer Pyle fame, Well Gaaaaaaawly!

  • The star of this show "Besides Charles Nelson Reily" was Butch Patrick and his earlier claim to fame was of course as li'll Eddy Musnter of The Munsters. The ONLY bad part about thse classic Syd & Marty Croft shows was they had a begining but hardly ever an ending! Lidsville was one that never finished & we never knew if Mark ever got home, Other shows without an ending were Far Out Space Nuts,Land of the Lost & Doctor Shrinker. All GREAT70s shows but sadly no one ever knew if they got home.

  • It reminds me the Magical Mistery Tour of the Beatles... the music, the type of costumes...

  • Coincidentally, he found the golden plates from the book of Mormon when he fell into the hat.

/Just saw the Mormon episode of South Park.

  • Did the boy ever get back to his home. If I were him and that had happened to me, I would have killed myself.

  • I remember when this was on, I thought it was creepy. Now I can't get the theme song out of my head!!

  • Hey..thanks for posting this! It really brings it all back! I'd completely forgotten how the intro was. Very trippy as always.

  • And everybody thinks that Match Game was CHarles Nelson Riley's biggest accomplishment

  • Eddie Munster & Witchiepoo the genie running from CNR & the hatamaran. Great show.

  • Comment removed

  • little Eddie Munster I have lidsville on vhs. Every time i hear Britneys womanizer this theme song comes to mind. Theres one part that is similar. strange

  • I use to watch this as a child. Now, looking back at this intro I think I unstand why I never even went near any drugs much less do any. Just the propect of "tripping out" and seeing anything like this stuff I'm sure scared the hell out of me.

  • Does anyone know who sang the intro song as well as most of the other intros for Kroft Productions?

  • John Bahler sang this intro, as well as Love, American Style and the theme to Wonder Woman

  • I think the intro is longer than the show, lol!!!!. Vaguely remember this show, but once in a while I get disturbing memories of it. Hope to see it again someday!

  • This and Land Of The Lost are two of the best shows of the 70's! Show really holds up today, well not really, but i still love it and watch it all the time, been introducing my little niece to Krofft and she loves it too!

  • I have not seen this intro since it was on the air...1970's

I was about ????? hahahah WOW!!! amazing!!!!!!!

    AWESOME!!!!

  • It has future Match Game Panelist Charles Nelson Reilly as Hoo-Doo the villain of Lidsville. Great classic from the 70's.

  • CNR hated lidsville with a passion

  • Butch Patrick also hated Lidsville

  • yea i can imagine--he was too old for the part and no offense but he was a horrible actor

  • It always trips me out when I hear how many of these stars hated the shows they were doing. WTF?!!! Most of them have become cultural "ICONS" because of these shows, and their names are known all over the world. Sure, I know many of them may have been underpaid, underappreciated, or even exploited. So what the heck else is new?!?!?! That's the story of my life, and I'm neither RICH or FAMOUS.

  • I'm sorry for offending you lxolxo7

  • No worries. You didn't offend me Not sure what made you think that? I was simply was making a comment. You misunderstood what I was getting at. What I meant is It's the celebraties themselves that trip me out when they speak so negatively after the fact about the shows that made them famous. Not to say that their tales aren't true. It just trips me out that's all. Kind of like WOW, here I loved that show, and that's what was really going on behind the scenes??? Peace.

  • OMG man I was 5 when I was watching this in 92 haha, I'm so glad I found this!

  • What station were or where were you whatching this in '92?!?!?!

  • Lol channel 2 or 3 used to play it at some rediculous hour of the morning, being a kid I was up to watch it haha (I'm from New Zealand - we play all sorts of old programmes here lol)

  • they are on DVD

  • Yeah, I know. I bought the box set a few tears back. Thanks for reply.

  • holy crap all these years and i had no idea the kid was butch patrick

  • land of the lost was asid and marty kroft show to before it was a movie

  • my dad showed me lidsville and now i love it.

  • I always enjoyed this show as a kid.

  • Sounds like the early 90s band, Jellyfish.

  • i heart jellyfish:)

  • I never thought I'd ever see a show crazier than Pufnstuf...

  • eddie munster

  • Far out, man!

  • This was my favorite show when I was a little kid. No wonder I'm a mess today.

  • I remember loving this show as a kid. I look at it now thinking, "Okay, exactly how many acid trips were Sid & Marty on when coming up with this one?" :)

  • @taurnguard Exactly. I submit Mark never fell into a magic hat , but merely dropped acid after the show with his friends.

  • I remember this show on NBC in 1998

  • what were Sid and Marty Croft on? :P

  • Creativity

  • This is classic childrens show. I used to watch this when i was 4 years old. In fact, I loved all of the Sid and Marty Krofft Shows From the 1970's. Thanks for posting this great memory.

  • OMG , I used to watch this as a kid.. I just could not remember the name. Tried to tell my hubby that there was a show that a kid fell into a giant hat.. Thank you for posting I knew I wasn't crazy

  • Haha I know the feeling. I felt like I was the only person who remembered this programme!!!

  • I remember this show...I loved it.

Saturday mornings just not the same. :(

  • Watched this as a kid, it was good then, and no one can laugh like Charles Nelson Riiley. Pretty darn good theme song too, they don't make them like that anymore (unfortunately).

  • stop rhyming!

  • I'm fairly certain that the protagonist there is Eddie Munster.

  • Yep -that's him, Butch Patrick

  • Oh My God

Sid and Marty were obviously high when they wrote this

  • Wow these guys Sid and Marty Krofft must've done a lot of acid.

  • Naw, they just had a different type of creativity
