@THEMETAPHY I don't think I have with any word said that this shit nowadays has anything in common with music back then. I hate that shit from today. So ..........
o my when i 1st heard this in 1979 i was in a the army blah blah any way 2011, I lisened to it again 1st time in 3 degades and still the power of this song speaks volumes to me what it was like as a young man in burnley and as a young squaddie being reminded in saddness is joy and peace you just have to find it, it is their god bless you all
I was 12 years old when this song came out and I recall hearing it for the first time when a guy walked by me with his huge boom box radio atop his shoulder. It was a simpler time.
I am not sure but i think this might be the concert i visited in Hollywood, LA, 1980. I was there with my GF in worn out jeans, the only two young white tourists in a crowd of maybe 500 mid-aged black listeners in full fancy dress and shiny 80s hairdo ;-) The Crusaders did two shows together with Tom Browne "Funkin for Jamaika" and the second show was getting a big party where everybody moved heavily. I never will forget this evening, i loved that big family feeling with Randy.
I was born in 1980. As I child I knew something was wrong with synth and hexaganal drums. The rare tracks played by Earth Wind and Fire, Commodores and Chic started my infatuation. By 11 I had amassed a huge collection of funk/groves from Average White Band to Herbie Hancock. I feel I missed the best era of producers, arrangers and talented musicians. I love my psychedelic and progressive trance, but I'm sad to hear the decline in standards such the likes of Lady Gaga is considered talented
@itadaku23 Me too I was born in 1980 and am in love with 80's funk and soul groove. It just makes me want to dance at every moment. If I was an artist right now Nile Rodgers would be producing my album let me tell you! As for Lady GaGa her music can never touch these vibes. People need to know before GAGA there was Grace Jones!!!
ha, i was born in the seventies and it was f-ing awesome, dancing and playing wit doors open, music was great through to the eighties. now theres bullshit n xfactor.

Oh what great memories this brings! First date first dance first kiss! What great music back then. Randy, Barry White .... Where is it all gone now!!?
im soooooooooo glad my parents exposed me to these older songs as a child...they used to play this song back when they had the card parties and only adults were allowed in the front room...and the house smelled funny lol.....
I used to dig this when I was ten. Still love it today. Fantastic. What do you get today? A bunch of chippy, baggy trousered, big-mouthed and dis-respectful dick-wipes.
DAMN GOOD performance of this by RANDY and the band -- considering it's so hard to recreate live what was mixed in the studio. I really missed the trumpets blasting out like car horns, for the musicians numbered probably half of the original crew ... but again, DAMN GOOD ! GO RANDY !
People said/say disco is vapid and shallow but this song is DEEP~ the lyrics make my blood run cold in stark contrast to the heat of the music ~ and YES, if she isn't one of the most beautiful, sexy, Amazingly GORGEOUS... ..Randy Crawford is a goddess! She puts these air-brushed women of today to shame. Just some lipstick and her dark rich glowing skin and natural beauty (and hair) ~ pure effervescence ~ God, she's a beauty ! (agreed)

gosh, am I glad I'm not born today but rather in a time that let me enjoy all of this great music...and dance my butt off to it, too. No comparison nowadays - just a bunch of yeep 'n' yap that nobody understands. What has happened to music? it's about the only thing that hasn't evolved.

I can't believe this cut is 30 years old. In any era, Randy Crawford would be plain drop dead gorgeous. Dang, I love my dark skinned nubian sisters. I married one too!

Randy Crawford is a bad mamma jamma!
An incredible talent that, unfortunately, didn't get near as much praise and recognition as she deserved. That's ok, she gets heavy rotation on my ipod!
