@BOWIEGIRL30 American accents don't sound normal to Brits, Aussies, and basically anyone who wasn't raised in America. Just like Canadian's accents don't sound "normal" to anyone else outside of Canada.

And an accent doesn't mean that we speak another language. Seriously. We all speak English. In many more years, if the languages keep growing apart, MAYBE then we'd have separate languages, but not until then.

@kaincael Yes I know all that. I was making a joke that as an American we don't actually speak English, because our slang words that we use everyday are different. That's why I was saying that we speak American. It wasn't meant to offend anyone. But they were speaking English and I'm quite aware of how different everyone sounds. Kilroy was a daytime talk show hosted by Robert Kilroy-Silk, a former English politician. His show was cancelled in 2004 after making racist remarks against Arabs, claiming that "Arabs have never contributed to civilisation".
