is it 3.3v or 9v im wanting to make a big one but not sure where to look tryed google :-) but anyways i seen if you try to power more then 1 led with arduino it will fry it? thanks
now the 3x3 cubs with colors, I think are pretty BORING.. but for some reason, I really like this white LED one.. it's pwetty.. and it reminds me of xmas.. it's so pwetty!!!!!!
It's called a 3x3x3 cube because you don't count it per number of led's on each side but by columns from top to bottom. People who call it 9x9 are either new to led multiplexing or just playing geniuses
would you have enough pins on the arduino duemelenove to power a 4x4x4 or a 5x5x5, i know with multiplexing (or pov) you can fit all of the 27 pins into 9 pins, but would you be able to fit in all the pins in a 5x5 with arduino?
I suppose you could use shift registers, OR an I2c chip because the arduino does support i2c. I have not really looked at this project since finishing it, I think the cube was crushed at some point.

in order to make a 5x5x5 you would need about 15 pins, unless you used a trick known as charlieplexing.

@ARVash why not shift registers or 4511's

how did you make that, arduino has only 13 digital ports
themustang00067 3 years ago
you will only need 9 pins/digital ports

He's right by using the fact that a diode only goes one way just set certain pins to input and others to output to change the positive negative.
