I like how everyone is saying how this is like every other Asian Horror movie, but I wonder if they'd say the same thing about every other American Horror movie. /:
@Trickery Yes they undoubtedly would. O_O Lol Especially since so many America horror movies are actually explicitly remakes of these Asian horror movies.
@xipetoltec that's because there is this famous (real) ghost story call the white lady, and is a lady with black long hair in her face and blah blah blah... so most asian scary movie ghost's are base of this so call ghost
Actually I heard it's because in traditional japanese kabuki plays the ghosts would look like that. The reason being because it's wearing a white burial kimono.
This is NOT Dark Water. The asian film that the American Dark Water was based on was simply called Dark Water. And it had much better production values than this.
I thought that Best Buy carried movies by Synapse Films. They did not carry "Wandering Ginza Butterfly" or its sequel "Wandering Ginza Butterfly: She-cat Gambler". I also ordered those online. Good luck finding "Gamera The Brave" at these stores too. What a shame! Amazon, cduniverse, yesasia are the ones to go with if you love Asian cinema. They carry them all.
They are also not going to carry the blu-ray of the Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon box set that releases on July 14th. Online retailers like Amazon are getting all of my money now. Local stores have lost several customers in my area because of this. When you go there, you see dozens of blu-rays and dvd's that no one wants to buy. Their decision making on what to carry in their stores is absurd and ridiculous. Too bad. Remember what happened to Circuit City: bankrupt!!!
Just a heads up, the film "Hidden Floor" comes out tomorrow on dvd in the U.S. Unfortunately, Best Buy is not carrying Hidden Floor and neither is Borders or Barnes and Noble. They seem to be abandoning Asian cinema as of late to make shelf room for 100 copies of Meet The Spartans and Epic Movie. They also did not carry the blu-rays of In The Realm of the Senses, Dragon Tiger Gate, Re-cycle and CJ7. They are also not going to carry the dvd of Big Man Japan aka Dai-Nipponjin on July 28th.
I saw it and it was kind of a dissapointment to me, its scary in the beginning. But the movie it self is so slow, and when that girl walks like "samara from the ring" it can be scary in a few second, but afterwards its boring.
omg i nearly had a heart attack when that thing appeared wit black eyes...i like horror movies that have a really deep storyline.. who can recommend this to me?
wait.. y does 1:44-1.46 she walks like samara from the ring??
looks alright.. but its just.. meh.. after youve seen lots of horro movies and all the little girls look alike with the long black hair.. it just isnt that scary.. its actualy sorta kute
yeah, it's just the whole thing with the young women with long black hair dying with a vengeance for the living and having like the after-death stiffness to them where they walk creepily like that.
I've seen lots of movies with this kinda thing but they still creep me out lol. XD I usually pay a lot more attention to the story and characters than the 'evil' they're trying to exorcise of whatever. XD
They are called yurei, and they are not monsters, they are unrestful spirits due to the manner in which they died. Many of the modern movies are about onryo, which return for revenge. Look up the story of Oiwa (I think that is how it's spelled), this is a famous and very old story of an onryo, and I remember hearing it when I was small... and it scared the cr@p out of me even tho it's so sad. When I was little I feared onryo far more than white-sheet western ghosts. LOL
What does yurei mean? I am really interesting in knowing it. Amd know more about what a long-haired girl means for asian people. I thinks it''s part of their culture. I wanna watch this movie!!!!
Nice Movie. Part of four horror tales. Dark Forest, D-Day, February 29 and Forbidden Floor. This one is the best. In spit of that is a Darkwater style movie.
This movie reminds me of THE GRUDGE

Long black hair mixed up in too many movies? What? Korean and Japanese people have black hair. That's why their actresses in scary movies do!
