hry thanks for vid, i was running into trouble putting back my m4 and your vid was a life saver. it's now saved to my fav, so i can refer later if need be.
@jinnwarior It's for releasing the bolt. Basically, you can drop an empty mag and load a new mag without having to yank the charging handle. Makes for faster reloads.
@jinnwarior Um.... To catch the bolt? Basically so you don't have to use the charging handle every time you load it. You can just punch the release and be ready to rock.
@TheSSSMANTAS it doesnt even take 1 munite. i can field strip and re-assemble my ak in less than that. my record is 28 seconds. and thats including re-assembly.
@FatJoe214 it depends on whether you want to use a weapon for more effective CQ combat. An AK can shoot through a cinder block and still kill an infantryman. If you want to fight in open areas, say a courtyard or field, then by all means take the AR. But shes like the rich chick who needs you to do everything. The AK is the dirty whore who makes you happy for very little, minus the crabs.
another way of putting in the firing pin is to wrap your palm around the 2 slots in the bolt carrier group and it will drop nicely into it. I had to learn to field strip this under 20 seconds. xD I did it in 10 secs or so. its alot practice and its fun! :)
I would like to add that while the tools used are handy when sitting at home or at the shop, you can field strip your AR15 using only a .223 round doing no damage to the riffle or the round. Great video though. Thank you.
The only reason I said ~ak47 was so people who have no idea what a VZ58 is would have a basic immage of the gun I do have.
IF they were similar on the inside I wouldnt be permitted to own one in Canada....prohibited by "mechanism"....F-ing retarded too... I cant own a Dragonov because it has an "ak47 mechanism" ...damn i want that gun.
Ive seen Aks on the inside, they strip nice and ez like the VZ58 and have loose fit, all things I like.
@CanadianReich wow man im soo sorry, i just though you were one of those internet gun experts who constantly write all kind of bullshit and about the SVD, well taht rifle is similar to an ak 47 but the internal mechanism is quite diferent (the bolt, the gas sistem and the trigger unit are diferent) even the external look is diferen (th magazine is a couple of inches away from the trigger guard, but in the AK is rigth next to it) so i wonder why is it banned?
Only thing I don't like is the amount of tools and the time it takes to strip this rifle. If I was out in the field I would rather have something that doesn't require any tools.
Guns don't kill, the human does. The gun doesn't just pull the trigger, the human does. Guns don't cause death, humans do. I got almost expelled by my school because I brought a spent old .44magnum I shot when I was 8 on a necklase for good luck, I don't need to say the rest. Point is most people don't understand guns. my guns fuse and motor connections are fine but when i fire, nothing comes out and it makes a high pitched sqealing noise or no sound at all. I've tried adjusting the motor height but can't get it to the right sound. Any help?
its is kinda of a pain in the ass, compared to say an AK (which you never really have to field strip and clean but once a century anyway), but it looks harder than it is.....but those small parts do tend to get lost
@DaytonaRoadster .. Wow dude. You really abuse your guns. You know when you fire the weapon and don't clean it the fouling from the rounds will cause rust to happen much faster. It will also have a lot less resell value. In a couple years you might be lucky to even get a 100$ by the description of how you clean your guns. I'm sorry for my rant, but it sometimes angers me when a nice firearms become garbage. I bet that barrel is Filthy/Fouled to no end and the accuracy must be horrible
what the hell are you talking about? I was talking about the AK and i adviously wasnt serious about once in a 100 years...Where you born yesterday or just retarded?
I knew that you were talking about the Ak??.. Ok you weren't serious about the 100 years things. But your post suggest and brings me to the conclusion that the gun hardly ever has to be cleaned. If not you are the definition of a troll and saying something completely unrelated to the topic of the video. I don't give a sh**t what gun it is, it should be cleaning regularly. Especially if your life depends on it. Disagree with me all you want but to most people this is common sense
I agree dude, my life doesn't depend on my gun but some wild animal's do! Even if I put 25 rounds through my mossberg 500 shooting clay pigeons, I take it apart completely and clean it. It's just common sense, like you said.
@DaytonaRoadster .. 1. What things on my channel led you to believe im a idiot?.. .. Yeah i cant really tell sarcasm when it is written so poorly. A century is 100 years, yeah sarcasim. How about one year? That to me is still unacceptable. I was brought up around firearms and everyone tells me you should clean the gun after each fire session. It seems by your description you do it once in a blue moon. I'm not telling you what to do, im just saying ammo especially Wolf ammo can be really dirty.
You're kidding :-\ There's a video of a 15 year girl doing this faster than most Marines. This is a simple rifle semi-auto rifle. It's not simple like a bolt action.
Do it a few times and it goes smoother and fast. I only take apart the extractor on the bolt every 1000 rounds or so.
@asgard1913 Yeah i do have to admit it is not as easy as my bolt action. But it is just as easy as my SKS rifle that is a semi-automatic... Semi-auto guns tend to have more parts inside.
Clean and lube your bolt and barrel after every firing session. Use a gun Nitro Solvent to clean. Use a lube with Teflon to lube all the bolt parts and coat the barrel. Lube all sliding and moving parts well, because you don't want parts rubbing dry. It will cause excessive wear. After about 2,000 rounds, do a thorough rifle cleaning. Soak the parts in Simple Green, clean the gas tube well and dry the rifle parts off immediately. Lube all parts. Do this, and you'll be good to go.
Rem Oil is good, I've used that on my AR. Recommended.
My only gripe with Rem Oil, is that is burns off after a a few magazines. I do something a little different now. I put Prolong, yes automotive Prolong inside my bolt, bolt cam, fire pin and inside the bolt carrier. After shooting, the field strip shows there is still lube inside the bolt. It doesn't cook off. I've shot over 10,000 rounds using Prolong. No problems whatsoever with my AR rifle.
What makes that Prolong lube unique, in my opinion, is that most oils turn to carbon when exposed to heat, and the AR-15 bolt carrier definitely gets exposed to heat and rapid friction. The Prolong seems to be resistant to turning into things other than lube since I've been using it in my rifle, it still remains slick and slippery after popping off a few magazines.
The forward assist is just there, just in case the bolt doesn't fully lock. In the 10+ years of owning my rifle, I've never had to use it.
Remember, the forward assist was added because Vietnam era soldiers complained their bolts were not fully locking and there was no way to nudge it forward.
Well, different field stripping competitions require different things. For the one I'm going to this weekend you have to do all of this PLUS remove the handguards, recoil springs, and even the sling.
@TuPP3 I think it would depend on the mission, if it is in an indoor setting, I think they would prefer the size of an MP5, but say they are outside a building where someone has taken hostages, I assume they would want the accuracy of an M16 or M4.
@tripmatt1 there is a video somewhere on youtube that has two people with an ar 15 and ak47 and the open the camber to the ar poor loads of sand in it and i shoots up to 4 mags till the get tired of shooting it but the ak failed first shot
Lol gtfo out of here. Go back to Call of Duty 4. I doubt you have even taken apart an AK before. Being an AK owner myself, I think this rifle is old and crude, but still fun to shoot at the same time.
If you had to ask me, I would probably pick an AR-15 over an AK any day, man.
It takes even less time since there are fewer parts to remove, just no one really bothers to train hard enough to field strip the AK in 10 seconds, since the AK requires field stripping as seldom as once every 3-5 days, while the AR-15 requires field stripping as often as 3-5 times a day in harsh conditions.
Both the AK and the AR15 are so easy to take apart and clean even a 5 year old kid could learn. M16s and Ar15s don't have to be clean to work just have to have a wet lubed bolt carrier. I never had any jams with any of mine ever.
Even if you consider the AR-15 as a weapon which is easy to maintain, you can't compare the ease of stripping an AR-15 to the ease of stripping the AK. Field stripping an AK requires the removal of 5 parts: reciever cover, spring with guide, bolt assembly, bolt and gas tube. Stripping the AR-15 bolt assembly ALONE requires you to separate it into 6 parts, including some tiny parts (like the firing pin retaining pin, the extractor spring and the extractor pin).
The lack of any of the three mentioned tiny parts will cause the weapon to stop functioning or even fall apart (if you assemble the bolt assembly without the firing pin retaining pin, the firing pin will be lost on the first shot fired). Meanwhile soldiers using AK derivatives aren't even entitled to go as far as to dissassemble the bolt (which encloses the firing pin along with it's spring).
The AR-15 is a good system, but it requires you to field strip it into AT LEAST 10 parts/subsystems (including some small parts) for the most basic cleaning and maintenance procedure. In contrast, when stripping any AK derivative you're entitled to break down the weapon into 6 MAJOR subsystems, above that you'll need some tools.
With an AR15 you don't have to take out the butt stock spring and all that jazz like taking off the handguards. All I do when I'm at a carbine shoot is take out the bolt and squirt lube on it and put it back in. people are so lazy, it doesn't take much time at all to clean any weapons but people make such a big deal about it. I don't live near any sand or desert so I will never have to worry about jamming.
When speaking of civilian versions of both weapons the reliability of the AK system can't really show off.
Military weapons, when serving on a military operation, shoot hundreds of rounds daily and often suffer from very harsh conditions and handling. A soldier can find it troublesome to find time and space to clean his weapon often.
When hunting or plinking, you shoot less ammo (because you have to pay for it), and you can clean your rifle when you get back home, so IMHO there's no comparison
When you clean the barrel shotgun it"take the rear pin out and take the bolt out" then run the cleaning rod from the bore too the flash hider so it follows the grooves of the rifleing.
always clean: "breach to muzzle" and i suggest that you purchase an OTIS cleaning kit. They are great kits and are being used by virtually every branch of the Armed Forces, and Law Enforcement!!!
oh thank you, that video was most helpful its just too bad I learned about it after wards haha, I bought an ar-15 without a manual also it was my first rifle so I had no idea what I was doing. For the longest time I could not figure out how to replace the charging handle, when eventually I saw the little ridge in there and finally got the baby back together
never said there was anything wrong with guns, im just saying if a 7 year old can field strip ANY kind of firearm perhaps shes been spending alittle too much time around them.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Still..a 7 year old knowing how to strip any gun is...odd to me. I mean I agree with showing kids guns at an early age as to prevent curiosity, but..cmon its one thing to let a kid shoot a gun...but having them around guns so much that they can take apart and put together one is going alittle far.
Yeah let not do something bc something might happen, and someone might get hurt. Sounds like a boring way to live! Its better to teach kids responsibility at a young age, than to shelter them and hope they make the right choice! I see so many friends who didn't grow up around guns buy one and I end up having to do what their Dads should have done when they were 10!
you dont seem to see where im coming from here, im not saying shelter kids from guns, and im not saying live your life worrying about something that might go wrong all im saying is that a KID that knows how to disassemble and put together an AR-15 spends alittle too much time around guns...in no way am i saying guns are bad...im not an anti gunner! but cmon! shes 7 she should be playing with toys or video games or SOMETHING lol, give her sometime, and i agree 10 is a good age to start learning.
She does lots of thing, its just a family tradition to go and shoot Sunday afternoon. So after 3 years of going to that she learns a lot. But most of her time is spent playing barbie with her friends, or riding her bike. Hell I was instructed on how to shoot when I was 6, and killed my first deer that fall. Never to early, as long as it can be done safely.
I agree, my dad owned a couple guns when I was 13 and when I began showing interest in them he decided to teach me proper safety then took me to the shooting rang to show me how they work. I think its better to satisfy a kids curiosity safely rather then have them get in the gun cabinet and hurt them selves.
Thats what I think. But you should never force any hobby on a kid. Me and my youngest sister love to shoot, and showed a lot of interest at a very young age. How ever my younger sister (middle child) never did, so she just got instructed how to safely handle a gun.
@Smith03 I have the same problem. I'm 21 teaching my friends and others, some being old enough to be my parents how to safely handle firearms. It's really sad sometimes thinking of what could have gone wrong the way they were doing things before hand.
Yup, but hey as long as people keep an open mind (thats what the libs always say), they will see that there are many more things to worry about than guns. Cars kill far more people every year....
Many cultures have started their kids education by 7 years old. Samurai started at age 4, Spartans military academies at age 7. A father teaching his sun how to shoot at 7, what is wrong with that? As long as its not your typical red neck family who shoots in the woods and using no safety like 95 percent of youtube videos. Weapons are not dangerous unless you do not respect them or are ignorant of safety.
I always resort back to history TBH. Most people are so ignorant of it and they re-invent the wheel time and time again. Media and movies scare people to death and it guides their actions in real life. Good example. I worked on aircraft for 10 years and yet millions are afraid to fly but they are willing to drive everyday which is as thousand times more dangerous.
No, they are produced domestically by Colt or under license by FN in Belgium--though many parts are bought from subcontractors. They are identical and all parts are interchangeable.
It can be done in under 30 seconds with practice, including removing the buffer and buffer spring (which this video doesn't cover, though it isn't essential for every cleaning), AND reassembly, AND a functions check.
Thompson 1927 Commando,Kel-Tec Sub Rifle;Saiga,SAR-8,SAR-4800,SKS with detachable magazine,SLG 95,SLR 95 or 96,Steyr AU,Tavor,Uzi,Galil and Uzi Sporter,Galil Sporter, or Galil Sniper Rifle ( Galatz ).Pistols (or copies or duplicates):Calico M-110,MAC-10,MAC-11, or MPA3,Olympic Arms OA,TEC-9,TEC-DC9,TEC-22 Scorpion, or AB-10,Uzi.Shotguns (or copies or duplicates):Armscor 30 BG,
depends on the upper receiver you get. YOu can get one with a flatop where there are rails on top. You can get a removeable carry handle for this, or you can put optics on it.
As for the one shown in this video, they have a permanent carry handle, optics have to be mounted on top of it
Every part of the AR 15 rifle can be removed. even the buffer spring. the trigger system and many more. when you go to advanced field stripping, the trigger system is the most difficult. one wrong mistake and the safety catch can be the semi.
Olympic Arms is a great AR-15 manufacturer, their prices are reasonable and they make some of the best AR's on the market. They use match grade barrels so you can expect superb accuracy. I have the K3B M4 A3 TC (if memory serves). Keep in mind that "reasonable" for an AR will still be at least $1000 bucks. The one I have already came with a flat top rail, detachable carry handle/sights and a free float quad rail, tax and background check included it cost me about $1060.
Not at all, it depends on what you want. If you just want a range rifle, then a DPMS sportical will do. However, if you want to go Tactical/SHTF, I would suggest Olympic Arms. They make great rifles for the price, also they use match grade barrels, so accuracy is superb. Also, Rock River Arms is widely regarded to be among the best manufacturers, and with a decent price, too. You can also get a Smith M&P 15 for just under $1000, however I've heard some AR parts don't fit on them so well.
According to the site, their flat tops average about $1200, and I don't think they include a carrying handle ($50-$100). However, a lot of places might charge more for it, given the political situation. The rifle I have is the Olympic Arms K3B tactical, which comes with the flat top rail and included carry handle, and a free float quad rail handguard. I bought it new for about $1080 including tax and fees etc. You can always check gun shows too, they sell both new and used rifles.
I put mine together with a Rock River lower (so I have Rock Rivers better two stage trigger group) and a Bushmaster M4 Patrolman upper with detachable handle/sight for $1010. C Products makes nice stainless mags for about $12, with anti tilt follower.
For $1500 you can get a pretty good rifle if you shop around. Don't forget to factor in the cost of mags and ammo in your purchasing decision. Magpul PMAGS generally cost $20-25, though you can pick up used aluminum USGI mags for $10 at gun shows. Some of them are a bit shitty, so it's a good idea to bring the lower receiver (or even the whole rifle) to test out how they fit.
That's my suggestion for a nice, tactical SHTF rifle. If you just want a range rifle, then there's the DPMS Sportical with a $699 MSRP. It doesn't come with a forward assist or a dust flap. You don't really NEED these things to keep your rifle functioning properly, but they are nice to have. Doesn't come with sights either, but it's chambered for 5.56 (you can still shoot .223), so it will function as a SHTF gun in a pinch. When considering price, keep in mind ammo and mag prices as well.
One more thing, you can always build your own AR, to your exact specs and budget. Keep in mind that parts kits are a bit hard to find now. I'll send you some tutorial sites on building an AR. Good luck!
This is a detailed strip of the bolt, removing the extractor in the the field is stupid, the chance of losing it somewhere is too high. It's okay inside or on a range though, I guess.
educational :]

The Prolong seems to be resistant to turning into things other than lube since I've been using it in my rifle, it still remains slick and slippery after popping off a few magazines.

@RacerXGTO
thanks bra, i was wondering what parts to lube

when field stripping, cleaning, reassembling, and function test, how does the forward assist factor in?
0122358 2 years ago
The forward assist is just there, just in case the bolt doesn't fully lock. In the 10+ years of owning my rifle, I've never had to use it.
Remember, the forward assist was added because Vietnam era soldiers complained their bolts were not fully locking and there was no way to nudge it forward.
RacerXGTO 2 years ago
Well, different field stripping competitions require different things. For the one I'm going to this weekend you have to do all of this PLUS remove the handguards, recoil springs, and even the sling.
PRussell303 2 years ago
If I'm in sand I would want the AK, If I'm on a swat team I take the M16.
tripmatt1 2 years ago 6
Wouldn't regular M16 be to long for SWAT operations? They need short guns like MP5
TuPP3 2 years ago
You can get the M16 with a 10" barrel or what ever you want. SWAT uses full autos so instead of an AR15 they are M16s.
tripmatt1 2 years ago
it all depends on the situation.
Alexn1067 2 years ago
@TuPP3 I think it would depend on the mission, if it is in an indoor setting, I think they would prefer the size of an MP5, but say they are outside a building where someone has taken hostages, I assume they would want the accuracy of an M16 or M4.
xdemonxpandax2 2 years ago
@tripmatt1 there is a video somewhere on youtube that has two people with an ar 15 and ak47 and the open the camber to the ar poor loads of sand in it and i shoots up to 4 mags till the get tired of shooting it but the ak failed first shot
monkeyfunn41 4 days ago
It's really not that hard if you just pay a little attention to the video.

Very complicated but great gun
dareta 2 years ago
it looks extremely complex to dissasemple this rifle... id just stick with an ak and not have to worry about loosing little pins
aaronchungrulez 2 years ago
Lol gtfo out of here. Go back to Call of Duty 4. I doubt you have even taken apart an AK before. Being an AK owner myself, I think this rifle is old and crude, but still fun to shoot at the same time.
If you had to ask me, I would probably pick an AR-15 over an AK any day, man.
swankyfb 2 years ago
An AK takes longer. Youtube has videos of a 10 year old girl breaking down an AR15 in 10 seconds.
tripmatt1 2 years ago
sometimes the hardest part of dissassembly for my ak-47 was reinstalling the gas tube. but other than that ak in a sinch
dOnKeYpUbEs 2 years ago
It takes even less time since there are fewer parts to remove, just no one really bothers to train hard enough to field strip the AK in 10 seconds, since the AK requires field stripping as seldom as once every 3-5 days, while the AR-15 requires field stripping as often as 3-5 times a day in harsh conditions.
stridingshadow 2 years ago 3
Both the AK and the AR15 are so easy to take apart and clean even a 5 year old kid could learn. M16s and Ar15s don't have to be clean to work just have to have a wet lubed bolt carrier. I never had any jams with any of mine ever.
tripmatt1 2 years ago 3
Even if you consider the AR-15 as a weapon which is easy to maintain, you can't compare the ease of stripping an AR-15 to the ease of stripping the AK. Field stripping an AK requires the removal of 5 parts: reciever cover, spring with guide, bolt assembly, bolt and gas tube. Stripping the AR-15 bolt assembly ALONE requires you to separate it into 6 parts, including some tiny parts (like the firing pin retaining pin, the extractor spring and the extractor pin).
stridingshadow 2 years ago 2
The lack of any of the three mentioned tiny parts will cause the weapon to stop functioning or even fall apart (if you assemble the bolt assembly without the firing pin retaining pin, the firing pin will be lost on the first shot fired). Meanwhile soldiers using AK derivatives aren't even entitled to go as far as to dissassemble the bolt (which encloses the firing pin along with it's spring).
stridingshadow 2 years ago
The AR-15 is a good system, but it requires you to field strip it into AT LEAST 10 parts/subsystems (including some small parts) for the most basic cleaning and maintenance procedure. In contrast, when stripping any AK derivative you're entitled to break down the weapon into 6 MAJOR subsystems, above that you'll need some tools.
stridingshadow 2 years ago
With an AR15 you don't have to take out the butt stock spring and all that jazz like taking off the handguards. All I do when I'm at a carbine shoot is take out the bolt and squirt lube on it and put it back in. people are so lazy, it doesn't take much time at all to clean any weapons but people make such a big deal about it. I don't live near any sand or desert so I will never have to worry about jamming.
tripmatt1 2 years ago
When speaking of civilian versions of both weapons the reliability of the AK system can't really show off.
Military weapons, when serving on a military operation, shoot hundreds of rounds daily and often suffer from very harsh conditions and handling. A soldier can find it troublesome to find time and space to clean his weapon often.
When hunting or plinking, you shoot less ammo (because you have to pay for it), and you can clean your rifle when you get back home, so IMHO there's no comparison
stridingshadow 2 years ago 2
Thanks for the vid. Someone showed my that once, but I forgot how to take apart of the bolt.
davesantos1 2 years ago
When you clean the barrel shotgun it"take the rear pin out and take the bolt out" then run the cleaning rod from the bore too the flash hider so it follows the grooves of the rifleing.

oh thank you, that video was most helpful its just too bad I learned about it after wards haha, I bought an ar-15 without a manual also it was my first rifle so I had no idea what I was doing. Well, she also plays soft ball, makes good grades, has tons of friends, she just likes to shoot with the family. Nothing wrong with guns.

never said there was anything wrong with guns, im just saying if a 7 year old can field strip ANY kind of firearm perhaps shes been spending alittle too much time around them.

She can't, I was referring to another users comment on how field striping the AR was complicated. She can only strip about 5 guns.

Still..a 7 year old knowing how to strip any gun is...odd to me. I mean I agree with showing kids guns at an early age as to prevent curiosity, but..cmon its one thing to let a kid shoot a gun...but having them around guns so much that they can take apart and put together one is going alittle far.
DorkFishes 2 years ago
why? She wanted to learn, so why not teach her? Whats the harm?

DorkFishes 2 years ago
Yeah let not do something bc something might happen, and someone might get hurt. Sounds like a boring way to live! Its better to teach kids responsibility at a young age, than to shelter them and hope they make the right choice! I see so many friends who didn't grow up around guns buy one and I end up having to do what their Dads should have done when they were 10!
Smith03 2 years ago 25
you dont seem to see where im coming from here, im not saying shelter kids from guns, and im not saying live your life worrying about something that might go wrong all im saying is that a KID that knows how to disassemble and put together an AR-15 spends alittle too much time around guns...in no way am i saying guns are bad...im not an anti gunner! but cmon! shes 7 she should be playing with toys or video games or SOMETHING lol, give her sometime, and i agree 10 is a good age to start learning.
DorkFishes 2 years ago
She does lots of thing, its just a family tradition to go and shoot Sunday afternoon. So after 3 years of going to that she learns a lot. But most of her time is spent playing barbie with her friends, or riding her bike. Hell I was instructed on how to shoot when I was 6, and killed my first deer that fall. Never to early, as long as it can be done safely.
Smith03 2 years ago 3
I agree, my dad owned a couple guns when I was 13 and when I began showing interest in them he decided to teach me proper safety then took me to the shooting rang to show me how they work. I think its better to satisfy a kids curiosity safely rather then have them get in the gun cabinet and hurt them selves.
snipelessTS5 2 years ago
Thats what I think. But you should never force any hobby on a kid. Me and my youngest sister love to shoot, and showed a lot of interest at a very young age. How ever my younger sister (middle child) never did, so she just got instructed how to safely handle a gun.
Smith03 2 years ago
@Smith03 I have the same problem. I'm 21 teaching my friends and others, some being old enough to be my parents how to safely handle firearms. It's really sad sometimes thinking of what could have gone wrong the way they were doing things before hand.
20eXtreme00 1 year ago
@20eXtreme00
Yup, but hey as long as people keep an open mind (thats what the libs always say), they will see that there are many more things to worry about than guns. Cars kill far more people every year....
Smith03 1 year ago
Many cultures have started their kids education by 7 years old. Samurai started at age 4, Spartans military academies at age 7. A father teaching his sun how to shoot at 7, what is wrong with that? As long as its not your typical red neck family who shoots in the woods and using no safety like 95 percent of youtube videos. Weapons are not dangerous unless you do not respect them or are ignorant of safety.
Warpath2198 2 years ago
Ah, thanks for the history lesson and novel ill be sure to get around to reading it eventually.
DorkFishes 2 years ago
I always resort back to history TBH. Most people are so ignorant of it and they re-invent the wheel time and time again. Media and movies scare people to death and it guides their actions in real life. Good example. I worked on aircraft for 10 years and yet millions are afraid to fly but they are willing to drive everyday which is as thousand times more dangerous.
Warpath2198 2 years ago
Alrighty then.
DorkFishes 2 years ago
haha we gotta respect the historian.

It can be done in under 30 seconds with practice, including removing the buffer and buffer spring (which this video doesn't cover, though it isn't essential for every cleaning), AND reassembly, AND a functions check.

is the handle of the ar15 can be removed?
aLdErTz 2 years ago
depends on the upper receiver you get. YOu can get one with a flatop where there are rails on top. You can get a removeable carry handle for this, or you can put optics on it.
As for the one shown in this video, they have a permanent carry handle, optics have to be mounted on top of it
ForTehNguyen 2 years ago
Every part of the AR 15 rifle can be removed. even the buffer spring. the trigger system and many more. when you go to advanced field stripping, the trigger system is the most difficult. one wrong mistake and the safety catch can be the semi.

Me too, I've got an AK and they're amazing, but the once dirt cheap ammo is getting pricey, so I'm buying an Ar-15 as soon as I have the money.
Goodspittin 2 years ago
I am looking to buy an Ar-15 before another ban comes up, but i dont know what brand to get for a reasonable price, any suggestions?...
BIGZ31 3 years ago
Olympic Arms is a great AR-15 manufacturer, their prices are reasonable and they make some of the best AR's on the market. They use match grade barrels so you can expect superb accuracy. I have the K3B M4 A3 TC (if memory serves). Keep in mind that "reasonable" for an AR will still be at least $1000 bucks. The one I have already came with a flat top rail, detachable carry handle/sights and a free float quad rail, tax and background check included it cost me about $1060.
Otacon237 3 years ago
I'm looking at an Ar-15. Is it just wishful thinking to not want to pay over $1,500 for a new one?
Goodspittin 2 years ago
Not at all, it depends on what you want. If you just want a range rifle, then a DPMS sportical will do. However, if you want to go Tactical/SHTF, I would suggest Olympic Arms. They make great rifles for the price, also they use match grade barrels, so accuracy is superb. Also, Rock River Arms is widely regarded to be among the best manufacturers, and with a decent price, too. You can also get a Smith M&P 15 for just under $1000, however I've heard some AR parts don't fit on them so well.
Otacon237 2 years ago
How much would an optics ready Bushmaster w/ the carrying handle run?
Goodspittin 2 years ago
According to the site, their flat tops average about $1200, and I don't think they include a carrying handle ($50-$100). However, a lot of places might charge more for it, given the political situation. The rifle I have is the Olympic Arms K3B tactical, which comes with the flat top rail and included carry handle, and a free float quad rail handguard. I bought it new for about $1080 including tax and fees etc. You can always check gun shows too, they sell both new and used rifles.
Otacon237 2 years ago
I put mine together with a Rock River lower (so I have Rock Rivers better two stage trigger group) and a Bushmaster M4 Patrolman upper with detachable handle/sight for $1010. C Products makes nice stainless mags for about $12, with anti tilt follower.
PaulyCracker 2 years ago
For $1500 you can get a pretty good rifle if you shop around. Don't forget to factor in the cost of mags and ammo in your purchasing decision. Magpul PMAGS generally cost $20-25, though you can pick up used aluminum USGI mags for $10 at gun shows. Some of them are a bit shitty, so it's a good idea to bring the lower receiver (or even the whole rifle) to test out how they fit.
Otacon237 2 years ago
That's my suggestion for a nice, tactical SHTF rifle. If you just want a range rifle, then there's the DPMS Sportical with a $699 MSRP. It doesn't come with a forward assist or a dust flap. You don't really NEED these things to keep your rifle functioning properly, but they are nice to have. Doesn't come with sights either, but it's chambered for 5.56 (you can still shoot .223), so it will function as a SHTF gun in a pinch. When considering price, keep in mind ammo and mag prices as well.
Otacon237 3 years ago
One more thing, you can always build your own AR, to your exact specs and budget. Keep in mind that parts kits are a bit hard to find now. I'll send you some tutorial sites on building an AR. Good luck!
