If you have something like 1.2, the 1 in it is the WHOLE number, which means you make 1 (the whole number) and 2 over ten (2 tenths). You would then simplify it and make it 1 and 1 over 5 (2 didvided by 2 = 1, 2 divided by 10 = 5).

They don't give a lot of examples because this is only a part of a lesson on YourTeacher(dot)com. As explained in the beginning of the video, there are multiple-choice questions, etc. in an actual lesson on YourTeacher(dot)com
