This was the only season I watched American Idol. Season 3 was the first season that was televised in Australia. When Latoya joined Fantasia Barino in the bottom 2 my mother and I were outraged. I remember my mum then walking from the lounge room to the kitchen in disgust. She then called out to me "it's going to be latoya who is going to be elimanated". When she was elimanated my mum was'nt in tears but she was pretty sad watching latoyas final performance as I was.

@phibeta6ma I agree! I was so sure Jazmine was going home that night and when it turned out to be LaToya, I was not happy. I don't know that LaToya would have won had she stayed(bcuz by that point Fantasia was already America's sweetheart) but Jazmine shouldn't have made it anywhere near the top three(just like Nikki McKibbins of Season 1) because she vocally didn't compare to the other three in the top four.

voice wise, LaToya London has it all (vocals, range) except she really has no fighting spirit of winning or she really has boring personality or maybe she's just down to earth.

Fantasia was soulfully great but quite exaggerated sometimes. Jennifer was really voted out because she sings like Broadway although she has very big voice.

look at this totally robbed contestant ever in AI history. Season's 3 Lisa Leuschner. I believe she would have won that season.

I mean, every season we go through shoking eliminations such as Tamaya Gray over Nikki McGibbin, LaToya London and Jennifer Hudson over Jasmine Trais and John Steven, Chris Daughtry over Taylor Hicks, Melinda Doolittle over Blake Lewis, Michael Johns over Kristy Lee Cook, and in my opinion Andrew Garcia over Tim Urban. @idolboy09 This seemed to be a case of sympathy votes, Jasmine had a bad week, and cried when Simon said she needed everyone in Hawaii to vote to keep her in, and so people probably voted b/c they felt badly for her, at LaToya's expense, which isn't fair since she was the better singer, and should have made at least top3. Diana was good, she improved each week and IMO deserved her place in the top 3. Jennifer should have still been here.

@ChristineTheHippie To Jasmin Trias credit she apolgised to Latoya after the show for causing her elimnation. I think no doubt Jasmin Trias got through because of the sympathy vote, but others have pointed out that Latoya may have also got burned because the diva vote between her and fantasia split. Personally I thought Latoya was the best singer in the competion but I would'nt sneeze at Diana or Fanstasia winning it though.

@dcc1980 I don't think it was Jasmine's fault the votes went the way it did. It's not fair to blame them when they don't control it, the voters do. I think it may well have been a vote split. Jasmine is a good singer, though. Also, I think sometimtes people take for granted someone is getting through so they vote for someone else.

@ChristineTheHippie Not so much blame her for it, but I guess she had the attitude that she wanted to win at any cost. She got upset the night before because she thought she was going to get voted off. But her reaction gave her sympathy and all that happened was a better singer got voted off. Still Simon Cowell I think maybe a month before the final predicted it would be between Fantasia and Diana. So maybe Latoya was always going to fall short of the hurdle even if she got through this week.

there was no other contestant from any other season that had such a voice as Latoya's. i mean the divas came n gone like Melinda Doolittle, Jordin Sparks, Vonzell Solomon, Lakisha Jones, Syesha Mercado... but noone i can think of had the voice and talent of Latoya. she was the definition of a true american idol. a great singer who is versatile, consistent, and just........ amazing. : / America never gets it right.

And I respect your opinion! But I'm going to be clear about K. Clarkson. For me she's a great singer with a wonderfull range and powerfull pipes and her music is good too. And true Tamyra didnt sell, thats because she didnt have a team of song writters and marketing like Kelly. Kelly did have better marketing but here's the thing we have to remember....Kelly's Breakaway was much more successful than the Thankful ablum and Kelly wrote several songs on Breakaway and only one on Thankful. So when you credit Kelly's success to a list of songwriters you have to think about how much control the artist is actually given. Also remember, that Tamyra HAS written a number one single ("I Believe" was written by her and someone else)

I actually feel like Diana DeGarmo was a great talent; my Ideal Top 5 would've been: 1. LaToya London, 2. Diana DeGarmo, 3. Fantasia Barrino, 4. Jennifer Hudson, 5. George Huff.... can't believe Jasmine made it so far.

I have to say though, LaToya I think is tied for first with Melinda Doolittle for having the most classy eliminations & farewell performances... talk about 2 classy ladies!

I agree...the 3 divas were the highlight of that season..matter of fact they have been the highlight of American Idol PERIOD because those girls were in a league of their own...including george huff. The rest were just cute people with cute voices..but Huff and the Divas were on stage SHOWING OUT! Vocally they were far above the others. I dont even watch the show the show now because the judges are not putitng people through like this anymore. Its a popularity contest. Much love to all 4!

First and fore most, Fantasia was the correct winner,however Latoya should have been in the final 2. Fantasia was very upset her self about this as you could tell. Jennifer should have been in the top 3 too. These 3 ladies put the sang on singing. I love Fantasia however I am a huge fan of hers and I still follow her,she still shutting it down!
