You know, people should invest in some kind of totally decentralized form of the internet, hardware and all. If I recall correctly, such a thing exists in some regions of Africa where they do not have adequate infrastructure, but mobile devices and small units can be used together with WiFi. This would be especially easy to do in cities.
Something like that could not be shut down very easily. And threatening the internet would become as useless as threatening word of mouth.

This is a really chilling and scary leak, because it shows that the Government, who was buying info from HBGary, are working with the Big corporations, and trying to bring down freedom of expression and free flow of information. To achieve this, they are breaking the exact same laws (as well as several more severe laws such as fraud and extortion) as they are trying to accuse Wikileaks and Anonymous of breaking.

You know, people should invest in some kind of totally decentralized form of the internet, hardware and all. If I recall correctly, such a thing exists in some regions of Africa where they do not have adequate infrastructure, but mobile devices and small units can be used together with WiFi. This would be especially easy to do in cities.
Something like that could not be shut down very easily. And threatening the internet would become as useless as threatening word of mouth.

What divides people in this country against Assange is that he's portrayed as a foreigner going after the US. Assange made the mistake of not appealing to the US *people* AT ALL during this, leading many to just see him as an anti-American with a vendetta, and made voices on the right that much stronger.
What needs to happen is Assange needs to start doing interviews with major news organizations and start appealing to the American people if he ever wants to be de-villified in the US.
