@jakeatollah If your tort is less than 3 years old and not hibernating because of that, regular warm baths will prompt him to drink. Add a little glucose, 5 g per litre. & feed him water dense cucumber in addition to his normal diet. if no change in 10 days, get him checked by a rep vet. & consider hibernating him next year. J

because its trying to hibernate? Mine are coming out of hibernation just now, 5 minutes ago was their first dinner that they chose to eat since I think Thanksgiving.

Turn off the light and let them sleep, they shouldn't have food in their stomachs when they go into hibernation as it will rot inside of them.

he might be just timid and is nervous around humans.. if you just got him hes still scared probably.. and if he want him to eat from your hand (make sure he doesnt bite you by mistake.. it hurts trust me... ) feed him a food that he really likes. Mine luvs carrots and he'l eat carrots from my hand. experiment with different foods and see what he likes :) after a while he'l get used to you and he might eat from your hand

turn off uvb, they need the heat at all times, true in nature the night temp. is lower but not room temp. also put the heat over to one side of the habitat so the tort can choose it's own body temp at any time, but you can do research to make sure that ur room temp. is or isn't ok for night

1) First secret to get a healthy tortoise? DO NOT BUY FROM REGAL REPTILES. They import. Find a breeder that sells CAPTIVE BRED ONLY.

2) Its Agronemys horsfieldi, not testudo.

3) Cement mixing bin...WAY TOO SMALL!

4) Heat pad is next to useless. Chelonians SUN themselves. A merucy vapor UVB bulb will give LOTS of heat. If you need more heat, get another lamp.

5) Regal Reptiles is terrible. They are only about quanitiy not quality, and just in it for the money. The animals suffer for it.

i put my russian tortoise in a size 40 fish tank. he has a walk up bath, a top screen where 2 lamps just sit, one for day one for night (night is heating lamp), food bowl and a green mat used for walking and shady area (he likes to go under) but i take him outside for like a half hour every single day....is this good enough?
