This song is one that I have played to my class of 14 Year olds - they love it ! It is saying everything that they are too scared to say out loud- long live the 80's and long live Robert Palmer.
Just love this song so much, he did some goodies. the 80's are much-maligned, but they signified the period in music where anything was accepted, all music types came out and did their thing and brought about the big melting pot there is today in the music industry.
Robert Palmer was and remains my all time favorite male performer, just the lyrics to this song are remarkable, teaching tolerance, how novel especially in this country where tolerance is not practiced by a too many of the population who resort to guns and violence instead of patience and understanding.
My Uncle reckons only f**kwits watch Utube, If he is right, well I must be? but thank God I can hear these tunes again. Sure theres some OK stuff out there now but not like this! Young people; swallow your pride and give some of this older stuff a go, try?...you wont regret it. RIP Bob xox
Great song. Reminds me of being back in college. I miss the 80's and the music we had. The music today is awful and all sounds the same. Rest in Peach Robert, you will always be missed.
Time stands still with a song like this, sounds just as fresh as when it was released--can't say that about too many songs no matter how popular they were.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing. Robert was such a great singer and was the king of cool in the late 80's. he had a style all his own. He was originally from Malta
His voice, mannerisms, and whole technique are better after he got older. I don't care for the '78 version. Of course the studio recording hardware was pretty fundamental back then too.
The only singer that I know of that was not afraid to have that big microphone in his face in just about every video he did. Thanks for the music and happiness Robert, R.I.P
Even though this little remember done by Palmer gem was from 1978 & became a then -- I don't believe Palmer made the video for it until 1989 or 91 (if I recall; after his success w/ the videos for both the hits, "Addicted To Love" & "Simply Irristible" -- Polygram requested he make a video archival record of his earlier hits which were part of a Broadway musical of the time. Which was actually very foresighted of Polygram considering Palmer's unfortunate tragic death a few years later).
Saw him at Towson State when general admission was still around. Was first in line but still ended up in third row right in front of him. I told him he was a cool dude and he said thank you. Then saw him in Baltimore same year with Little Feat back up.
He was absolutely the white man of soul and very well mannered and classy as hell. Just too cool!
I heard this song on the radio the other day and couldn't get it out of my head. This song exemplifies what music should be...an expression of the heart, mind and sould. What a phenomenal song! Thanks for posting.
SORRY SOME ONE SENT THIS TO ME AND IT SCARED ME SO I HAD TO DO IT PLZ FORGIVE ME IM NOT TRYING TO ADVERTISE BUT IM SCARED OF WHAT IT SEES in 1908 a lady named sally rusa was in the woods looking for a dog until a ghost came and killed her so if ur reading this u will find a bloody body in your closet hanging there haunting you and will kill you and ur family and if u want to stop this just sends this to 6 videos in 30 mins or this will happen good luck

Maybe it's just me, but this sounds like a remix for a re-release of the song, rather than the original. That would explain the 1980s-esque video we see here, anyway.
It sounds like there's a beat track in the background in addition to the drum beat.
Uh... and then a brief rap in the video... yep, definitely a remix.
Everyone should watch this video, it rocks, and so does Robert Palmer. R.I.P. My friend. This song and video proves that people can get along no matter what differences we may have.
Actually, Cinel...I was talking about making comments about the video, not about politics, not about anything that doesn't/didn't have to do with the music and the video. I just find it rather tiring that people take these venues to go on tirades that are obviously (well usually) misguided, ignorant, etc. instead of staying in the spirit of the venue. This is about music and this particular video had nothing to do with politics & neither, I'm sorry...did my original comment. Thanks! *smile*
what a track, robert might not be here now bless him! rip.but what a fantastic song hes left us . if only it could be like this .its a feel good tune and video definitely....
Not to THIS person of colour is this a better America..and I'm so glad all of you have decided to take these comment areas regarding music and video arts and made it your own personal political soap box of ignorance. Heil! *ahem* and THAT was a snide comment, just in case you didn't get it.
I just have to ask what you mean. I'm not an Obama supporter and he hasn't impressed me yet. I vote for the best candidate no matter what color but I do believe he was elected to prove we had moved past the racial barrier regardless of whether he was the best candidate.
So my question is do you think it'll take alot more work to move past the racial barriers or do you think that Obama is not quite the Messiah that people seem to think he is.
awesome song and very appropriate for the events going on today. to all my brothers and sisters of color I have met througout the years rejoice. This is a new, better America.

Jules thats funny The more thumbs down i get the better my insults are wahahhaha! The most sensative people are the fans of Miley Cirus,Jewll,Streisand,Morrisett and other female singers they get very protective/defensive of their "hero"..why??Who knows? They somehow wanna live vicariously in the shoes of billionire celebs who could care freakin less about these obscessed fans. You tube rocks and I enjoy the banter.
Than you Jules i only call em as i hear/see em.Robert Palmer was the man,his voice was a rock n roll instrument9See The power station).R.I.P.Robert Palmer..It takes every kinda people great song easy on the ears!
not kiddin pal you sound a good guy with one hell ov a sense ov humour .pitty some take it the wrong way probably up the arse. anyway keep the insults going cos its keeping me in laughts and many others. ps hope you dont get too many thumbs down ha ha .
Yah, So - put on your sailing shoes, & sneak sally through the alley, or you'll be in double trouble!! His last 2 albums were like Rod Stewart's "Blondes have more fun" - pure candy corporate pop. What a shame.
The last two were Rhythm and Blues and Drive. I think both were exceedingly well done, and neither deserve to be compared to the post-Faces Stewart. Drive, in particular, isn't even vaguely commercial. You must not have heard it.
just hope the mans happy wereever he may be r.i.p. man ;0)

Yah, So - put on your sailing shoes, & sneak sally through the alley, or you'll be in double trouble!! His last 2 albums were like Rod Stewart's "Blondes have more fun" - pure candy corporate pop. What a shame.

Art is what you like. Big deal.

The last two were Rhythm and Blues and Drive. I think both were exceedingly well done, and neither deserve to be compared to the post-Faces Stewart. Drive, in particular, isn't even vaguely commercial. You must not have heard it.
