First, Scheuer is hardly a neo-con, hes been consistent in his opposition to U.S interventionism. Second, his job was to collect intel on Bin Laden. The "getting" of Bin Laden was up to the previous administrations that had a number of opportunities to do it because of Scheuer's work. And they didn't act. First, Scheuer is hardly a neo-con, hes been consistent in his opposition to U.S interventionism. Second, his job was to collect intel on Bin Laden. The "getting" of Bin Laden was up to the previous administrations that had a number of opportunities to do it because of Scheuer's work. And they didn't act. In the President's case it gives him the leverage of labeling any criticism against him as racism. Don't get me wrong either. @plusmin09 Racism is defined as 'Racial Intolerance', so I don't see how saying only Caucasians can be racist is racist. It's stupid to even say that. After all it is people of minorities that are targets of widespread racism and not the other way around.

@rza1m That's not quite right. The definition of racism is the intentional division between races when ultimately any significant differences are simply social & media semantics. Saying only one race is capable of this, and the others are incapable, is in fact, by definition, racist. Whether or not something is racist, because a great deal can be construed as such, is not the question--the question is if its been stated with hate in your heart or through simple ignorance. @rza1m White people introduced racial intolerance? That's simply not chronologically possible, because for thousands of years the only race of man was black. When white people started coming out of black people due to minor genetic differences & mutations to their pigment making genes, I doubt they turned around and became intolerant to all the black people they came from, I would think all the black people would be intolerant of the sporadic white kids popping out at random.

And what we know is that the majority of white people in slightly older society openly allowed and encouraged racism against other races and people of different color, even to the point of coining derogatory terms for them. Also it was prejudicial assumptions which created racism, because someone is black their less etc. it's all history.

Yes society has been around for a long time and so has racism however those periods bear no relevance to us. But the notability of acceptable outwards racism that was condoned which was largely one sided. I'm not saying that only white people are racist, but it's hard to forget a time when white people saw their superiority over other races as something to brag about.

It used to have positive connotations--preserving something good (white right). That term means more than just bigotry, it also refers to institutional and economic power.
non-whites can be racist, but in the past it has been in the service of white power, like Clarance Thomas today..

@HeronimousPhunk The majority of what I hear about racism from minorities is in the media from republicans and fox news, neither of which i agree with. Resistance should exist when anyone is wrongfully accused of racism, and action should be taken against actual acts of racism.
Racism still exists of course, but the general culture in the US is moving pretty quickly towards establishing equality. You can see and feel a big change in only a few generations, a genuine disregard for race.

Class separates people more than race currently. Religion is another big one. Gender, sexuality, and race have made big progress in the last few generations.

Gender, class, race, and sexuality are linked. Sexism, elitism, racism linked. US elects a mixed race man who avoids race and political conflict and class inequality gets inflamed, abortion rights under attack, religious intolerance is up. I think these are linked phenomena.

We are not that far apart. Robber Barons then & now dominate the rest of us. Race, Gender, Sexuality are still used to construct hierarchies & the people are manipulated based on their investments into those structures. There's a whole lot of similarities based on inequality and intolerance.

This CIA guy is correct in saying there is no threat from Libya against us, but the Obama thing is just his personal opinion and he should have kept that to himself.
