  • A prog-rock space epic! ;-)

  • hey, fellow electric youths of the early 80s,check out how letter n turned out in an episode of WONDER SHOWZEN! 30 years beat her up!

  • man i still get teary-eyed when i hear this song and it's like 30 years later.

  • And the two lowercase "n" 's merged into a lowercase "m"!

  • i could listen to this song all day long

  • i simply love it

  • LOVE iT!!!!

  • My little brother watched Sesame Street ALL THE TIME! This video makes me sad because I think of all those hours of babysitting and watching SS with my brother. He passed away in 2000.

  • @LeslieSteeg thats a tragedy..........

  • I always cry out for the music when the rocket ship comes along! :'-)

  • brilliant!!

  • @JordanMacFace

So am I. In fact, I need another lowercase 'n' myself...LOL!!!

  • FANTABULOUS!!! Thanks for upping this one. Whomever is in charge of the old school clips has impeccable taste.

  • All I can do facepalm for lack of education this possesses.

  • when I watch the lower case 'n' I somehow thought I was part of the 60s revolution (even though I 5 in 1973) heh heh

  • The guys that wrote the lyrics for this one were definitely smoking something.

  • I remember watching this as a kid, and finding it kinda depressing...

  • From 0:47 mins to 0:51 mins, where was the rocket ship that ought to be on the hill LOL!

  • The best line is "Then one day a rocket ship came racing from the sky..." in context it's good, but out of context it represents an endless amount of possibilities....love it

  • Wow, I've looked for this little bit of Sesame Street nostalgia for a while and am so glad to have found it - thanks!

  • I don't remember having seen this one, although I have heard about it. So when the 2 lower-case "n"'s got together, did they form an "m"? Mmmmmm...

  • I would love to hear an expanded version of this song, two minutes long, but still sounding exactly the same with the spanish guitar.

  • It reminds me of Neil Young and Crazy Horse

  • @Bertonator it is crosby stills nash and young doing the song.

  • @deadline27

    really??

That makes sense but it's still crazy!!

  • @eurorocker79 yeah it's really them i swear

  • Who the fuck would give this a thumbs down??? They must be 30 Lady Gaga followers/morons.

Love it, blast from the past.

  • WOW! This song set me up for failure! (Please don't ask because there is no short version of this story.)

  • proper scouse this

  • the two ns together make a m.... :P i loved this song. we used to sing the harmony in class at school

  • Liberal letters...must be bi-nary

  • Here's hoping that everyone finds their own lower case "n"...

  • why?

  • @weirdcitykid WHY? becuase music is the mathematical expression of the inner soul of humans, expressing to the universe at large its most deep inner thoughts and emotions, sorrow or pleasure, that cannot be verbally articulated, like crying or laughing.the animation of this combined with the music stimulates even 'exersizes'a young minds ability to be creative and artisic giving great flexibility of thought in adulthood.it also helps isolate emotional patterns.i this case, lonliness and contentment.

  • @irishbreakfast

EXACTLY!!! They call me a freak, a misfit, and all this other psychobabble garbage...I'm just someone who UNDERSTANDS some stuff that might be "inconvenient" for the corporate masters.....

    That's why I'm self-employed...

    You have good insights, btw...

  • @freakette55 thanks for the recognition!i understand a great deal that noone even has thought of yet.and its pobably just as well.and im self-employed as well!!! i have lots more insights on many topics as well.and yes,I ALSO am called a freak,a lu-lu,a nutjob, and many other adjectives i cant write here.but that just means its time to join MENSA to be around other freaks that understand more than 2 sentences of what we have to say!livin with the normies is like being in kindergarten FOREVER!

  • a timeless classic! we,the young children of the 70s,have this tune and visual imprinted in our subconcious for the rest of our lives.it conveys such deep emotion that to sensitive pepole, the lonelliness can be felt.to the point of tears.the creative genius behind this awakened the emotional development of an entire generation that changed the planet and the way we veiw it,BUT,i dont see our kids having that same stimulation,on that level,in that mindset.that creative awakening is VITAL!!

  • @irishbreakfast Absolutely true

  • It was magical to be a kid in the 70's!

  • Poor uppercase U

  • Comment removed

  • Wow that is brilliant and amazing and very creative!

  • The bunny at 0:29 looks so worried. How genius are those folks at SS to create such an evocative clip??

  • I also saw it as a child and always wanted to see it again! Mean.

  • yeah.very downtone and lonely.but that song has been in my mind clearly for more than 30 years and will be till we die.whats even worse is what happened in the girl Ns life in the years after that .it was far from a happy ending!check out WONDER SHOWZEN to see how life treated her and how she turned out!and dont worry about kermit he says what happens on the set now, elmo has a very long way to go to push kermit into the shadows as far as our generation is concerned.kermit now sits the throne!

  • i wish i had youtuba as a kid (im 34) because after this skit came on,i used to dream the day id see it again!

  • i still get teary eyed watching that one

  • I was only 4 or 5 when I'd see this, & get depressed. still depressing.

  • AHAHAHA!!! What what was the point of that?? LOL, i loved it tho.

  • And then the two n's moved into their very own Capital I, and started an Inn.

  • Man I always knew every word to that song for some reason.

  • Sadly, Kermit's friend Jim Henson died about 20 years ago. No one does it quite the same.

Sesame Street came to me about the same time as my little sister... just over 40 years ago ( :~)

  • @JordanMacFace I still think the lower case 'n' should have hooked up with the capital 'I' from the other Sesame Street segment.

  • @carlafmf

maybe our lower case n and her fellow lower case n boyfriend went to visit the Capital I, they all made an Inn...

that thought is not original with me, but don't recall who posted it.

  • Until the rocket ship showed up I couldn't keep a dry eye.

  • yes, jadell. elmo is annoying as heck. long live kermit!

  • :DDD

  • This song used to make me sooooo sad and mess with my head when I was little, andI LOVED it! I'm still waiting for my lower case 's' to come to earth and find me... :^(

  • Beautiful little song. You don't see tunes of this calibre written for kids' TV any longer.

  • What a shame that the extra n won't affect the word's pronunciation at all. Maybe n's are supposed to be lonely.

  • @Conway79

You know what you get when you put 2 lowercase "n"s right next to each other? A lower case m!

  • so um, how stoned were the writers of Sesame Street at that time??? lol ... brings back so many memories, I LOVE it. My parents still hum these songs to my brother and I, and we're now in our 30's ! LOL

  • @JenJenPoo1

You can get goofy without being stoned.

  • Always loved this one as a kid.....it could make you feel so sad and happy in just 60 seconds.....what an amazing show SS was, the talent of the writers never ceases to amaze. Glad I had this when I was young. Wonderful memories of the 70s.

  • I am delighted to see this again. I was delighted way back when was a seven year old on the south side of Chicago. How truly groundbreaking was Sesame Street!

  • The weeping flowers make me want to cry! If this video were made today, lowercase N would just hook up with someone through matchdotcom.

  • i would buy the mp3 if they put this on itunes! i love it....go lower case n

  • Such a deus ex machina ending. ;-)

  • am 31 but still love this song ..last heard it over 20 years ago ..its still ace !!

  • I always liked this clip when I was a kid.

  • I have to say...watching this clip takes me WAY back...there I was, a little kid planted in front of our huge Curtis Mathis console TV...

Something about this song has always grabbed me...from then right until now.

  • Great classic clip. I 'n'ever get tired of it.

  • very... they might be giants "here come the 123s"... check it out xD

  • is this the same people that sang the Song about the capital I?

  • @heroftime2008 Yes.

  • one of my favourite songs from this show..hippy-ish. sounding..still like it!!!

  • 10/10 Amazing. Brilliant music, artwork, everything!

Although while I'm here, am I the only kid from the 70's who's annoyed that 'Elmo' has hijacked Kermit's position as the frontman for Sesame Street?

  • I knew it!! I thought that red muppet was a little unfamiliar!

  • You can thank the Jim Henson Company for selling the frog to the Walt Disney Company. Peace.

  • @Jadell I concur. Whilst not a child of the 70's (I drank Sesame street in the 80's but I am from Northern Ireland which was usually 10 years behind the states TV wise anyway) I fully agree. I think Elmo is ok but it's just not what it used to be. Kermit had a bit more understanding about him and I miss that in Children's television.

  • @Jadell Actually, I thought Big Bird was frontman of Sesame Street; Kermit was just a supporting character on Sesame Street.

  • @Jadell You're certainly not the only one. I can't stand "Elmo's World" taking up the last 20 minutes or so of EACH EPISODE. When the main part of the episode also involves Elmo, it's like he's taken over the whole show! They should be calling it "Elmo's Show With Some Other Of Your Favorite Sesame Street Characters, If There's Time"

  • @Jadell i agree i started watching Sesame street in the 80's and the was no elmo what happened?

  • @Jadell Yeah, but Elmo used to be GOOD, until the 90's.

  • @Jadell You totally said it. Great comment

  • @Jadell No, your not. But really, he's hijacked Grover's position...Kermit left to do The Muppet Show.

  • @Jadell I'm a kid from the 80's and I'm extremely annoyed by the Elmo usurpation.

  • @Jadell get with the times you filthy hippy.

  • did the same people who made "we all live in a capital I" make this one too?

  • Indeed yes

  • i figured, they're both very similar :)

  • Yes, the music was by Steve Zuckerman, who went on to compose incidental music for many animated shows, such as "DuckTales," and commercial jingles

  • Yes, and "Imagination Rain." They're all by a composer named Steve Zuckerman. Peace.

  • Not exactly the same, the first Lower Case n is pink, the second one blue. So at least the colors fall along traditional lines, so now you can rest easy.

Altho...... come on, where do you think the lower case M comes from ;0

  • Still love this song

  • such a beautiful song , very melancholy...

  • They did re-air this in the 80s because that's when I used to watch and I remember this.

  • Why is this embedded on the darkspire Channel?

  • Dont cry! the N found Love and joy. its two instead of one! :)

  • I AM CRYING SAD SAD SONG

  • They are for the same show around the same time frame. So probably yes.

  • i still remember this

  • i will never forget sesame street..

  • why isnt all kids tv like this

  • WHAT YR DID THIS AIR?

  • I think it's from the early 1970s.

  • it's probably from the early 70s but it aired all through the 80s.

  • Beautiful. I wish they had made more of these and covered the entire alphabet.

  • who thiNks of this shit i use to watch this wheN i was like 4 and actually enjoyed it

  • 2 lowercase "n's", make a lowercase "m"

  • what is this song a parody of?

  • I'm not aware that it's a parody of any song. I first heard it on "Sesame Street" during my childhood in the '70s.

  • Wow! I remember this song! Amazing how you never forget Sesame Street!

  • Kinda funny that this skit is about the letter n, yet it doesn't mention any words that begin with n...

  • Exactly; a "recognition-only" clip for a letter/number isn't usually this long and elaborate. Still, there's an exception to every rule--and sometimes we remember those best. :-)

  • Effectively creepy but pleasant too!!! Thank you for posting...

  • I remember this! Thanks for posting this!

  • I'm sure your parents must be very proud of you.

  • THIS is what Sesame Street used to be and should still be. Excellent

  • the music is so great

  • wow. how entirely random :)

  • nnice:)

  • Aw, poor n!

  • But she's not lonely anymore.
