  • Can someone PLEASE tell me what orchestra is performing this?

  • "Two major works are wholly dominated by Orientalism: Korsakov's Antar and Balakirev's Tamara" A History of Russian Music from Kamarinskaya to Baby Yar by Francis Maes. Great book! Thanks for sharing this lovely music!

  • I bought a copy of this under the "Naxos" lable, about ten years ago, and found this to be a brilliant piece. Still plays like new too.

Rimsky-Korsakov, as far as I can tell from the recordings I have, and have heard, he never wrote a piece that was not above excellent. I own a lot of copies of his music, as he is one of my favorite composers. His works are always so visual and flow with such life that is above most. Even many other whose works I love, do not contain as much life.

  • It's pure magic!!!

    Thanks Sinfoniette

    Alberto

  • Now we know where Howard Shore got his inspiration from for the Lord of the Rings - the oboe, string and cor anglais are so similar. This is wonderful; thank you for sharing it.

  • his name was Antarah Ibn Shaddād....magic , charming , a masterpiece ! Thank you.

  • What's the orchestra in this recording?

  • one of Anatrs Poems is one of the most celebrated seven poems in the pre-islamic Arabic literature. in the pre -islamic period his poem was along with other seven poems were hanged inside the Kabba as a way of admiration.

thank you very much for uploading this brilliant peace.

  • Best reflection of Korsakov's youth, initiation and Orientalist aspirations!

    Brilliantly played, masterfully conducted!

    Bravo! Bis!

  • one of the best themes EVER written... it makes so obvious from where people writing soundtracks took inspiration from

  • yes! It sounds like the Lord of the Rings Soundtrack by Howard Shore, oder better said: The Lord of the Rings Soundtrack sounds like Rimsky-Korsakovs 2. Symohonie ;-)

  • Man, Thank you Thank you Thank you.

I love this symphony, I played it one time with a student orchestra, but couldn't find any movie here
