  • does it make a differences with 550 paracord ?

  • Great videos!! I've made two awesome red white and blue halters so far and I'm looking forward to making many more. =] Thank you for sharing!

  • you know that we can stop and watch over parts when we want to? :P thats the greath thing about a video.. so please.. dont do things over of twice in one video ;)

  • @klijntjuh Well then you can also fast forward in a video right?

  • Well great instuction, but you should make more of thefact that one length has to be longer than the other because after I got to doing the noseband knots and the other cheek piece I didnt have enough rope to go over the poll so I had to start over.

  • @boredbutbeautiful Yeah I should have had some exact lengths for you. You didn't need to start over though you just send the extra rope through the knots and things even out.

  • I tied it three times, so carefully and every time the fiador knot came out deformed!!!! So frustrated, not sure where I went wrong.

  • I thought this was for breyer horses lol but still helpful thanks!

  • how thick does the rope type have to be and what is it made out of?

  • how long is the long end and how short is the short end... i couldnt figure it out... sry maybe i jus missed it...

  • absolutly wonderful videos for those who need the visiual aide. Ive tried sooo many times to make one using written instructions and failed miserably, though i found it better to use 18ft of rope, because with 20 i end up with alot of waste (though the waste isnt so bad when i have a cat helping me by shreading the ends as im making the halter lol) Saves me alot of money to make my own plus they make great presents. thank you so very much for taking the time to make and post these videos

  • do u know where to get colored rope like purple or purpleish??? I've tried almost every online store and a couple hardware stores and I cant find it

  • Grrr! I tried this 8 times - and it didn't work! What am I doing wrong?? I have analyzed and carefully watched your video over and over, and I do exactly what you do! Errrrrr, frustrating!

  • why? why so complicated???

  • i think it's explained pretty well. thx :)

  • how much rope do you need??????

  • @elchihuas7 about 21-22 feet

  • try Rope Online for Tuff Tack equestrian ropes.

  • Ok i tried a few times and it never worked! >:O

  • @56animallover

All you have to do is learn to tie the fiador and the other knot and if you get those down, tying the rest is a piece of cake.

  • what are the measures of the rope to the halter????

    by

  • thank you!!!!!!!

  • you stink at giving directions. I REALLY like the part where a knot magically appears between #2 and #3. everything looks correct until the third video

  • @ramclain00

Wow I'm sorry for assuming that you could figure out how tie a simple knot that is shown like 6 other places in the video. If you can't tie go buy your own.

  • @NeveseveN777 I started a halter, and it came out too short on one end to finish. what is the measurements for each side when you start?? And from the 2nd part to the 3rd part, connecting the cheek part, I am confused. it is probably very simple but I can't seem to figure it out. Can you help me? I am a terrible person when it comes to just listening so it has to be visual. This video is great by the way(well all 3 of them!)

  • where do you buy the rope at??

  • @lovehorses4ever97

Almost any hardware store will have it.

  • why make a N why not make a T. JK

  • @breyergirl1243

    Good one.

  • I find this video very helpful and informational, but on your break at the end of your 2nd vid and start of your 3rd vid you left out how to connect the cheek strap from the tie loop to the nose knot you come back with it already tied. im a very visual person and learn best from seeing. i cant figure it out with out seeing it lol and its very frusterating for me.. Can you help me? i know they are the same knots as every where else, it seems this is step by step and you left out one step. Thanks!

  • @Red8711

Yeah I can help you out. If you'd like go to my website and my contact info is on there. You can give me a call. Thanks.

  • I have a rope halter but somehow my horse managed to untie the fiador knot. I was wondering if there is a way to re-tie that without untying the whole halter?

  • @RideJumpShow There probably is, however, it's just easier to retie the knot. A little extra practice never hurt.

  • Hey, I want to learn how to do a rope halter, and thanks for posting.

But, isn't 21 feet like a lot of rope?

I live in Europe and that is like 6m of rope. seems like a lot?!

  • @muryana2000 It's not too much, in fact sometimes i give myself a few extra feet.

  • You guys rock. Thanks for these great instructions!

  • You guys rock. Thanks for these great instructions!

  • @chispas2004 You rock

  • thanks so much man ,im 13 and i got this halter deal figured out!!! I am makin em for my dad and hes givin em to all his friends! thanks

  • @shiningsuncowboys I figured out to how to do these when I was like 10. There was an article in the western horseman magazine, but they didn't have the fiador knot, that I put together from a bruce grant book, the encylopedia of rawhide and leather braiding

  • Great video. I'm going to try to make my own for my mare! I was just curious what type of rope to use and where to purchase it at?

  • @SavannahB112 We use anything that will stay soft. Stay away from cotton, anything not too thick max 1/4 inch.

  • I like to use something that's pretty soft. I guess if you keep them clean it doesn't matter. If they get in the mud and sweat they will get really stiff and hard to work with. I think it's probably nylon that I use. Cotton and hemp with degrade after a lot of use.

  • where could you get a good rope for a halter

  • I think that almost any hardware store will sell something that will work. I would use 1/4 inch stuff.

  • where could you get a good rope for a halter

  • much better than the last one, very informative, and I now don't find the fiador knot intimidating.. THANK YOU.

  • @Bullydogairsoft Yeah the last one kinda sucked

  • good explained! thank you

  • this is so useful!

  • @CuteKitties30 thanks

  • Thats why I pay for one :]
