I called previous maintenance and he said those were grinder pumps. There is a huge difference between the two. I come home covered shit, it was a shitty deal really. Work needs one of these ASAP!!!

It is absolutely incredible what can end up in a sewer pipe, and clogged pumps are an expensive, daily nuisance for me. one of our stations has a 125hp Fairbanks centrifugal that ended up with half of a skateboard stuck through the impeller, truck, wheels and all. In smaller parts of the system an errant plastic bottle could cause a backup that floods streets, businesses and homes.

Many places have what is known as a combined sewer system, in which the sewer system also serves as the storm drains, and that means all the garbage that ends up on the side of the road finds its way into the system, clogging pumps, pipes, causing backups. modern synthetics and plastics are stronger than ever, and older pumps and sewer systems are having a harder and harder time keeping up.
@cumminsfan But lots of people flush inappropriate things, the worst being tampon applicators which clog up in EVERYTHING. I once pulled a hardhat and half a skateboard out of a 125hp lift station pump.
If you need to pump 2x4 and 2'' coupling there is something wrong my friend, and even thoTsurumi will be able to find a solution if you need to pump that.

Pumping the water out of the artificial pond for spring cleanup has always been a major PITA, even the 5HP gasoline "trash pumps" had trouble handling the large amount of leaves and plastic bags in the water.
People often confuse grinder pumps and cutter pumps. E-One does make a very good product for low flow / high head applications. However, this cutter pump is designed to handle higher flow rates while still dealing with the solids that can work their way into the waste stream.
For example, the maximum flow rate of the E-One SPD is 14 gal / min. This is fine for a single household, but is not capable of normal municipal flows.
Nice controlled demonstration. However, Environment One makes the best sewage grinder pumps out there. SPD is the only way to go for flexibility and reliability.

Tsurumi is a Japanese pump brand that has been around as long as Flygt and ABS. Better known doesn't mean better pump.
