this was not sanctioned by the band as a release and came out behind there backs yet its one there greatest songs they said it was not mixed right surely some one some where must have the masters and can do it justice
What is the classical riff that this song ends with (and seems to be composed from, though you don't realise it until the end)???? Is it the Alleluiah Chorus????
A true Genius at work. and all in a 2 minute er "pop" song!
The Small Faces themselves did not like this song and weren't happy it was released. It is a little more bubblegum than their usual, but it has a nice sound to it.
@XOXOSuga Nah. Don't wish you were older. Be glad you are young and can spread Small Faces music to yet another generation. I can tell you, there's nothing as cool as hearing one of your teenaged kids turning their friends on to the great SFs.
come on people, be nice to each other...why so mean?
this was a fave band of mine back in the late 60's...too bad about Steve...didn't know that he had died in a house fire in 1991...and I loved his band Humble Pie.
One of my favourite Small Faces songs (but difficult to choose as so many of their songs are good - especially Tin Soldier). I listen to them still, now on my iPod shuffle and blast the sound out of my 1972 Mini - heaven!! I have the single myself, very scratched now. Thanks for the posting. Alison
I was still alive when this single was about..and I remember it well, as I do their subsequent releases. Now that I am 'dead' so to speak, I must search the ether for their sounds and the sounds of others I can remember during my residence on 'planet earth'. One thing in my favour; I have an infinatessimal amount of time on my hands....living as a human is difficult, and full of problems. Once rid of the 'human' or 'earthly' containment..........the universe is your oyster.
in our "mind's eye" our earthly realm can be trancended by closeing thy terrestial opticals, to fade into the dreamscape , thus ridding of the weight and inflating the potentiality. This single is amazing!!! I have a canadian comp called "london a go go" with a studio grouppo blazing a cover of this song, almost as good as a this original version. thanks for posting this!!
I joined the Small Faces fan Club when I was 13, the lady who ran it was called, not too sure of her first name, but I think it was Pauline Corcoran. The fan club was a waste of time(and money) as I never had any communication from it, neither did my mates who also joined, but we still enjoyed their music. As it turned out, a friend of a friend was a fireman who attended the scene where Steve Marriot died, so sad!
As a kid about 6 around 1993 I remember playing this song on repeat and going to the corner shop to get cobbers then coming home and still hearing it. I just loved it! Strange child! Short and sweet, could hear it about 10 times on repeat in 20 mins :D
