Why'd they have the scrolling text for episode 10? That looks the the webcast version.And yes Madoka was awesome. The script and scenario was written by Gen Urobochi, the guy who did Saya no Uta. And if everyone knows the story of Saya no Uta you'll realize how dark his stories are.

I just finished watching this series, and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I knew I probably had to expect this series to have a rather serious undertone. But I ended up forgetting about that and letting myself be tricked into that heart stopping moment.

A beautiful story with perhaps an even deeper meaning than the creators imagined.

Well, There were coloration differences, the credits scrolling in ep 10, All five girls in Ep 10, At the end of 1, where they zoomed out, it was slightly slower. Oh and if you really looked, when the dots were floating, Ep1 was missing a pink one and had an extra yellow onr (I think) I may have made a mistake there.

Aside from the somewhat cheerful voices (if you don't understand the lyrics by hearing) I find the visuals and lyrics rather foreboding. The thing that caught me by the tail were the first couple of episodes that portrait a rather nice atmosphere. But that's probably because I saw the anime's page on animenewsnetwork and noticed the cute picture but ominous genre and theme tags >.>;

First episode was how they wanted to troll people. Bright colours give more of a warm feeling while the others just show the reality by being darker or fading away.

The opening is however more dramatic than what it seems. Madoka cries for practically 80% of it plus appears demoralised and thoughtful as well as worried throughout all of the play.

what i observe so far specially on 0:13 is that if you see from 1 , 3, 6 , 10 the background start to fog out which for me indicating the state of darkness of the plot devices char (S*****) and the slowly deconstruction this show gets every episode which is for me by far the best deconstructor (not to mention the most troll mahou shoujo)i ever watch...

Well, the creators did this to trick everyone on purpose. When they first released Madoka they said it was going to be an heartwarming anime for the whole family. And after the third episode was aired they more or less said "TROLOLOLOLOL JUST KIDDING"

The only MAJOR differences really are that ep 1 has a slightly different color scheme n the colours are more bright n in ep 10 they hav the credits rolling through during the op and all 5 girls at the end. I guess they did the first change (Color scheme) because they wanted the backround to be softer. All 5 girls appearing is cause they all played big parts in the end so they all have to be included to be fair lol!
