  • Beautiful car man!

    390?

  • if youre ever in milwaukee stop at the solid gold mcdonalds on highway 100. id love to see this car. take care.

  • Very nice. I hope to be finishing work on my 69 2 door this year. It'll be a few years before I can afford to have the body done nice but I've done a few things to stop what little rust there is from spreading in the meantime

  • Thats cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Green Day!

  • did you order some food at McDonalds?

  • Whats the name of the 2 songs in the film. cheers mate

  • Had the chance to buy a nice one of these last year for $2000 but passed it up. I'm kicking myself right now!

  • Muscle cars of 1960, s and 1970's are the greatest generation of cars.

  • How much do the Monterey's go for, I am interested in buying One of them and a 67 Park Lane!!!

  • @syd1v1 The Mercurys are kind of rare, but I've seen decent 2 door big block cars go for $2500. The FE (390,428,etc.) engines are expensive to rebuild though.

  • @DomainDuSac Really, thats really really cheap if you tell me :O

I live in Australia But Im soon to move overseas in Italy and import Mercuries, I am aware that the price of fuel is 10 times as much in the states, but its worth every cent for luxury and the looks :)

  • @DomainDuSac Sounds good to me matey, We should stay in contact just incase a buying opportunity for me comes along (:

  • @syd1v1 Never get a 68 Ford anything. So many parts are discontinued for that year more than any other for some reason. I had a hell of a time restoring a 68 T bird.

  • My favorite part is that it isn't down in the weeds. I like the proper higher ride height. It makes the car look lighter too. It's a full size car for sure, but it makes it look like it's more nimble. Classy all the way!

  • Exactly. I have an '85 Camaro which I lowered. Maybe it would have helped to have some big wheels, but I'm running 16" IROC wheels and the car just looked bloated or something. After awhile I raised it back up with stock IROC springs and it just seems better balanced. More proportional I guess.

  • @DomainDuSac Y'know the higher height takes at least 1000 lbs off the car. Good job! any of the big older cars look better up in the air a bit. Not Roller Skate height, but decent height. "Scrape" is for people that don't actually like their car. IMHO. Good Job!

  • i agree, wheels for the time period are best,Im thinking of 15s torque thrust d rims for my 68 marquis,im on cardomain too its lime green.tell me what you think. RARE MERCURY RULE>

  • i agree too, wheels for the time period are the best,im thinking of old school torque thrust d rims for my 68 marquis, its on cardomain if you would like to check it out,its the lime green marquis from canada. RARE MERCURY CARS RULE.

  • Beautiful ride!!!

  • I used to own this car.

  • yup , a true hauwi 50 car

  • Beautiful fastback body style

  • Nice car, always been a big fan of the big Mercs from the 1960s/1970s, wish they were as popular as the Ford Galaxie/Chevy Impala, I think it's awesome how you could get the standard 390 motor on the Monterey's, was the tranny an automatic or a standard shift on the column?

  • B-H

Looks like the similar '68 Ford XL SportsRoof...great looking cars...428 motor was optional...

  • good 4 u..no stupid 22's or anything like that ..thats shits for kids...i had a few mercs .i had 67..and a friend of mine has 2 1967 S-55'S..ever hear of them?

    well good luck with it

  • Wow, My first car. I have had I think 4 of them. I still have one 2-door. I had a 2-door with "Yacht Paneling" on the side (Fake Wood Sides). That one was rare. Some jerk hit it and killed it while parked. Seen an S-55 here in Lynnwood, Washington about 6 years ago. Dude that posted this, you got a nice ride. Need to Re-Aim the headlights though.

  • you had one with the paneling?..they are rare ..i think only 1112 were made that way ...i just seen one at the all ford carlisle car show ....kool

  • Hey, guy..I'm putting together a '68 Monterey 2 dr fastback Q code (428 CJ) S55 that was never made by Mercury. I am using a '65 S55 bucket seat set up but could use 2 '67 S55 bucket seats to make it look more original. Got any you want to sell? My first Merc. was a '62 S55. Check out "55 Years of Mercury" by J.Gunnell from Krause publications for more of my restored and sold '68 Mercs.

  • i know this is an old vid.. hope you still have the car..very nice merc..i hope you dont put stupid ass huge wheels on it like the fad of today ....looks good the way it is..rock on brudder

  • I hear you - wide 15s are best when it comes to cars from the 60's. Less bling and more muscle I guess. I've got some plain chrome steelies on it now. Wide and simple. Thanks for the comment!

  • Outstanding.

  • Cool car and very cool video.

  • this takes me back...i like old cars but....I never want to set ignition points or deal with carburators EVER again....LOL

  • See how awesome it looks!! This is how a car should be long and with a hood and a trunck, not like the round bulky future cars with no soul we see today.

The merc on the last shot driving thru town was just like a movie from the 70's amazing shot!

  • wow what a beautiful car. i wish they still made them like that.

  • This is amazing! I have the same car! Except mine isn't a Monterey it's a Parklane. You should check out my videos. I have 2 of my car. It's in primer right now but should be painted once I put the new quarter panels on.

  • The 68 Monterey ROCKS!!!!!! I have two of them. A Coupe like yours and a convertible. Are you going to the All Ford show in Carlisle, PA this June 1-3?

  • Not too many of those '68 Montereys out there! In fact I've never actually seen another one in person. Do you have any pictures of yours? Maybe you should set up a CarDomain page for them. You can find my brother's car there if you search on 68 Mercury. Not planning on the Carlisle show, but definitely doing some cruising in Wisconsin this summer. Cheers!

  • Hey, what songs are these on your video?

  • Well the first one is by the Four Horsemen. They had some good tunes back in the hair band era. 'Nobody Said It Was Easy' and 'Rockin Is My Business' were my favorites. The second song is by the Hellacopters, and that song is pretty laid back by their standards. Those guys know how to rock, and their music is better than anything on the radio around here!

  • @DomainDuSac the Four Horsemen tune is called "Hot Rod." Great tune, and the intro to the song was the lead singer starting his '67 Camaro and speeding down the road.

  • Montereys, Park Lanes and Marquis are all the same cars, just different trim levels. The only major difference really was in the Marquis. It had different side windows on them that were shaped differently. Yeah, these cars are rare. My first was a 68 4-Door. Had it 26 years. Had to scrap it as there was no place for me to fix her up and park her at. I was sad for a long time. I have one 2-Door Park Lane though. Need cleaned and tuned. Burgundy paint.

  • i also have a 68 monterey but mine's the convertible. yours is in a little better condition than mine for sure..

  • yea i had a 68 galaxie with a 390 out in los angeles so it killed me but yea im in dallas now.thanks man

  • say man im wondering what gas is like, theres a 4 door for sale and im wondering if its worth it.

  • Well its a 390 big block and a 3 spd auto trans without overdrive so gas mileage isn't that great ;-)

  • Nice car, good shots, would like to hear the motor a bit more though. Thanks for sharing.

  • Was this the model with the flying V belt?
