The money these cats spent on paint jobs and rims could have been pooled together to start a company or factory that produces something which would in turn hire folks from the community thus making the community better because everybody is now employed legit. 1968- Les Dunham in Boonton,NJ(New Jersey) starts making custom Cadillacs from his shop called Les Dunham Coach. His other shop based in New York City start doing the same thing
Later on in the late 60's and into the 1970's his cars(Super Fly or Pimpmobiles) were on the streets of New York City.
Then in 1972 the Blaxploitation Film "Super Fly" comes out and it features the car that was made by Les Dunham that was used in the film, which the car(1972 Fleetwood Eldorado) belonged to a New York Pimp called "K.C", which he let the producers of the movie Super Fly borrow his car for the film.

It's not about what rims you're riding on and as I recall back in the days in the 1970's in NYC you would see that they had "poking rims" and these rims where called "Tarantulas" which they where made by Les Dunham Coach. They were other types of wired rims in them days and most of them where from custom shops.
This was long before the Cragar StarWire(which ya'll call "swangas") rims were made in 1983 and 1984 which where options for FWD Eldorados from 83-84.

It's not about what rims you're riding on and as I recall back in the days in the 1970's in NYC you would see that they had "poking rims" and these rims where called "Tarantulas" which they where made by Les Dunham Coach. They were other types of wired rims in them days and most of them where from custom shops.
This was long before the Cragar StarWire(which ya'll call "swangas") rims were made in 1983 and 1984 which where options for FWD Eldorados from 83-84.

The East coast(Such as New Jersey and New York) did start this customiztion trend back in late 1960's and 70's they were(and still 2day)and the person who came up with this idea was Les dunham who owned(still owns)a shop in Boonton, NJ called Les Dunham Coach.
Maybe you should look him up on youtube by typing "Les Dunham Superfly"

Both of those films were set in New York City and those films featured customized Caddys n Lincolns and most of those cars were borrowed from locals(residents)of New York for film purposes.
