Maybe they don't seem like they overlap, because sometimes education is conclusions, theories, etc. However, education compliments Islam and vise-versa . The prophet, Peace Be Upon Him, said; seek knowledge, even if you must travel to China. which translates to acquiring knowledge indefinitely. Allah blessed us with a life lasting capacity of the mind and heart. Therefore, as long as we can absorb it, we can learn it for the sake of the Ummah or our personal satisfaction.

religion is the opposite of ever changing ever discovering conclusions.... because the conclusion has already been written and is their "truth" story.
